Review Topic: IR-5 Visa

My visa interview prep works benefited tremendously from fellow reviewers here. So I want to pool my recent experience as a give back.

Another motivation to retell the experience here is because my case is IR5 visa (applied as parents of a US citizen), which is not a common case reviewed here. So, I hope it might benefit people in the same category.

TIME & DATE
- It was a Friday in Sep 2023.
- My appointment time was at 11:15 am. I was actually the last one in the whole morning.
- When I was there, it was not busy and not crowded at all. Felt like a slow, lazy morning.
- Only one officer at one window doing the doc collection, only one interviewer at one window conducting all interviews.

THE PLACE
1. Every worker, security staff included, were so well-mannered, welcoming and polite. Typical Canadian business/customer service treatments.
2. The entrance hall on the ground floor is small but has a he... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Appointment was Sept 18th 2023.
A few weeks ago I got an email with a different appointment time, so this morning I went at the first appointment time and asked which one I should attend since I didn't want to miss it! The guard at the door said come back at 1045 which was the time in the most recent interview update. I grabbed breakfast and went back to the hotel to chill.

At 1045 I was back at the consulate and checked in. The guy at the door checks you off a list, you go through the door and a person immediately to the right checks your passport, gives you a ticket with your appointment number on it and then you go through security and put your phone in a tiny locker and then go up the elevator.

Once there I was immediately called into a room and asked for:

My birth certificate
Marriage certificate
My husband's 2022 taxes
My RCMP check
Passport Photo
Passport
(I had a folder of 20 other t... read complete review

The interview was smooth, efficient, and on-time.

There was no line-up upon arrival. Security was quick, and the process from arrival to exit was probably an hour twenty minutes.

Staff were overall courteous and professional.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My interview was scheduled for 8:30 but I got there at just before 8:10 because my Uber was far faster than I thought it would be. There were about 9 people ahead of me which was weird because they were all waiting for interviews at 9:15! There were two people behind me for 8:30 as well. At 8:15 the security guard asked me what my interview time was and he let me up right away. I walked in, handed the lady my passport, put my things in the X-Ray machine and then put my phone and smartwatch in the locker and headed upstairs.

It took about 10 mins for my number to be called to go to the first window (Window 5) and she confirmed phone numbers and addresses and then asked me for the following documents:

1 Passport photo
Police Certificate
Birth Certificate
Marriage Certificate
My husband's divorce decree
My husbands 2022 tax return and 2022 W2
She took my finger prints and then she sent me back on my way to the waiti... read complete review
