It is important to arrive early, because it is first come first serve. So if you get there to line up, the sooner you are there the sooner you will be seen inside. However! They don't open the doors till (8 I think), so dress appropriately for the weather if you plan to get there early.
There are several checkpoints to go through, just be patient and do exactly what each officer says. Eventually you'll go down into the basement and wait outside an elevator. Someone will come down and tell everyone they can take the elevator up to the office. Sit or stand in the appropriate section (it depends if you are there for an immigrant or non-immigrant visa).
They call people up by number (which I believe you get as you first enter the building from outside). The first person you speak with will ask for a variety of documents - birth certificate, passport, tax documents, support papers etc. They also take your finger prints and may ask you questions (the person I s... read complete review

My interview was on June 6. I won't get into details about my number or the floor number but it's pretty simple if you can follow general instructions. Got there and entered the building right away. The wait inside the building was the longest part. The interview itself was short and simple (4-5 basic questions) and took no longer than 5 minutes. The CO was young, cool and talkative. The visa was issued, mailed and expected to be received on June 8. Pleasant experience and happy to be done with this part!

My interview was at 9 am on May 10th. I arrived just after 8:15 and was asked to wait. I don't have a cell phone (and they're not allowed anyway), but I was chatting with some other people waiting outside who told me at 9 am. Don't expect the security officers to let you know what time it is, bring a watch.
At 9, I was let through to the first security check outside, where they went through my whole bag and asked if I had any sealed envelopes besides my medical exam. I did (a police check), so I opened it in front of him. I had a granola bar I had to eat too. I thought you'd be able to bring sealed food in, but you can't.
Inside I was sent through a metal detector and my bag was checked again. I was told to use the bathroom if I needed to, since there isn't one upstairs. I had just used the bathroom before arriving at the consulate, so I didn't. I wish I'd tried though, the wait upstairs can be really long and I had to go badly when I got out.

We had our interview at 8am on Tuesday May 10th. We arrived at the consulate at 7.20am, there was just one other person waiting. We stayed at the Travelodge, just a 10 minute walk from. The consulate. The security guard came out around 7.40, by that time there were about 12 people waiting. He called us in one by one, we showed our appointment letter to the lady and she gave us a ticket, we were number 2. We were directed down some stairs to a small waiting area by the elevator. After around 10 mins another security guard guided us into the lavatory and we went to the 19th floor (brilliant view from up there!). We were directed by a nice lady to sit in the middle section. Within 5 mins we were called to window 2 and we were asked for our documents. That took around 10 mins then we sat back down, and again within 5 mins we were called to window 8, a nice young gentleman with the glasses asked us how some questions, mostly about my wife's job, have we ever been arrested, any borde... read complete review

Had a great experience in Montreal. I was very nervous but they really did'nt ask for much other then the originals of specific docs. The wait almost killed me because of the stress but i survived and have approval in hand. They did'nt want copies of anything proof of anything just asked a few simple questions that i answered and i got my welcome letter on the spot. We already have an email confirmation that passport is already back on its way and well be able to track that within 24 hours. YAAY US!
