Now that I got the issued status on CEAC, I think it's about time I actually sat down and write a proper review of the consulate where I had my interview. Little background: I am Filipino that's been working in Cambodia for a year and a half now. I've also lived in Brunei (until the age of 17), Philippines (6 years), and Korea (4 years).

My packet 3 arrived in February but I didn't send the DS-160 until I got most of my police certificates from the different countries I've lived in for more than 6 months. As soon as I got all of my paperwork (with the exception of the police certificate from Cambodia), I finished the DS-160 form and sent it on April 10, 2017. After a couple of hours, on the same day, I received an email from the US Embassy in Phnom Penh with my interview date being May 18, 2017.

The police certificate took a lot longer than I would like but I managed to get it just in time before my interview (May 17, 2017). I also finished my medical and ... read complete review

The interview was scheduled at 8:30 AM on May 11, 2017. I flew in the day before to attend the interview with my fiancée. We practiced all the questions we could find and memorized all the important dates. We chose to wear business casual clothes to look professional, but not be too formal. I believe the way we looked played a big part in the interview. We arrived at 6 AM to be first in line. The window opened at 7 AM. They informed us that we would have to wait until 15 minutes before our scheduled time to be allowed in. There were a few other people waiting in line behind us with earlier appointments that were let in. Finally, at 8:15 AM, we were asked to present our passports at the window and went through security. Security asked for our driver's licenses, but I did not bring mine. They informed me that I should have, but let me pass through. They gave us badges and we went through metal detectors and they collected our personal belongings. We walked to the next building where w... read complete review

I accompanied my fiance to his interview in Phnom Penh and I’m thrilled to say that we were approved! A huge thank you to everyone on these message boards who helped me along the way.

Having read all of the prior reviews I was expecting a bad experience, but I have to say that I found the whole process to be efficient and well organized. I also found all of the people we encountered at the consulate to be so polite and helpful, even the guards.

We arrived at 6 am and were first in line, which forms outside the door to the left of the window. We wore matching white shirts and ties because we are both boys. The window opened at 7:10 and the man let us in after checking our passports (he never asked for my interview letter). The guards inside checked our passports again and took our bags and phones. No food or water is allowed inside, but there is a drinking fountain and very clean bathrooms. We went through the double doors and lined up outside... read complete review

I, the petitioner, attended the interview with my fiance at the U.S. Embassy of Cambodia. After reading lots of different experiences and mostly negative ones at this embassy, we feared only the worst, a rejection of our petition.

Once we entered the embassy, went through security, we entered the waiting area, which appeared like a DMV. Next, an announcement was made for us to wait in line at window 7 to get a number. We were the very first one to enter the embassy and the very first one to be called to hand over our paperwork at window 9. The consulate officer collecting the paperwork asked some questions as well to verify our identifications. I was allowed to join my fiance to hand over the paperwork while she answered questions. Questions included her home address and my phone number.

After waiting for another 15 minutes, my fiance was called to window 2 for her fingerprint. She went to wash her hands in the restroom before getting fingerprinted. It w... read complete review
