We had our interview today and were approved. We felt confident but were still a bit anxious as my finacé had been denied thrice before for a travel visa.

We chose to try to do the whole process here in Rio during one trip with our plan to fly to the US from here. We have to admit we are a bit nervous for the visa issuance due to the software issue that happened in Jun but we have recently seen that more 300,000+ visas were issued this past week to bring the backlog of 350,000 down. They are back on schedule we hope as our flight to the US is next week.

We came to Rio with the intent to do the medical one week prior to the interview so that all the documents would be at the consulate for the interview. It worked.

We completed the X-ray and blood work on Friday 26 Jun so that all the results would be in Dr. Garrido's office by our appointment on 30 Jun which would be one week before the interview. Both of the offices for the exams were very... read complete review

Most terrifying day of my entire life! Lets start off like that.
I was denied 2 tourist visas before, so my experience in the consulate was traumatic to say the least. This time, I was even more nervous, due to the situation. I had my wedding reception scheduled in Brazil for the 1st of may, and my tickets to come to America were already bought for may 4th. So, that interview was everything at that moment, and it was on april 14th.
Got at the consulate very early in the morning and went to the second floor, where the immigrant visas are proceeded. There were about 15 fiances/spouses already waiting on their interview. I was the LAST one to be called. Waited on those chairs for about two hours (can you imagine it?). When it was finally my time, it didn't even take 5 minutes talking to the consul. It was a mid-age Chinese looking consul, very charismatic. He said good morning, which was a surprise (on my interviews for the tourist visas the consul barely looked at my face..... read complete review

Hello guys!
I went for my interview on June 12 2015, was set for 9:20 am I arrived at 8:45 and wait... wait... and wait...
Everyone was very nice and polite;
I was interviewed around 11:30 took about 30 minutes, the interviewer was very polite and explained my whole situation.
He ask me about 3 or 4 questions regarding my husband and I, and the remaining conversation was regarding my life before my husband.
Over all I had a good experience!

It took 10 min. Had many pics, cards, letters, emails, etc. Consul seemed not care about them.

Hi guys!

I'll review medical and then interview.

Medical: April 28th

My spouse did his medical in São Paulo. Make sure you call with ample time to ensure everything is ready. We thought we were prepared BUT then she asked if he was on any medication and he needed to get a medical report about the condition and prescriptions and then have it translated into English...that set us back about a week. He was given an xray of his chest and tested for syphilis that's it...no urine. The secretary is not very helpful since she wouldn't even tell us if it had been sent to the consulate and that there was no way of knowing if it had been or not...I was told to email the consulate, which I did, and got no response. Thankfully it was there in time of the interview.

Interview: May 21st

The interview was the easiest part! Alex gave us our documents to fill out and then we were called to check if everything was in order... read complete review
