I'll write two separate reviews for medical exam and interview itself:
Medical:
I had my appointment with Dr Garrido in Rio de Janeiro, exactly one week before the interview. I scheduled my appointment with him 2-3 weeks before, all made by email with his effective secretary, Mrs Tania. I live far from Rio, so I flew the same morning, collected blood samples in the recommended lab close to his office (no appointment needed) and made my X-ray in the recommended clinic (2-3 blocks from the doctor's office, you must scheduled before). I chose to stay in Rio between my medical and the interview. I had all vaccines taken care before. The doctor is very gentle and professional, all went well. Tania told me the exams would be in the office within 24 hours, I chose to pick up the sealed envelope in the doctor/s office and take it with me to the interview (yes, it is possible - don't open it!!!) because I wasn't sure the mail (correios) would deliver it on time.

Let me start by saying that my process ran super smoothly and that I had checked every information and document several times. I was pretty certain I had everything I needed (and I did), but I was a little nervous. So, it's normal to be anxious and nervous. Also, for reference, I don't have any children, I have never been married, I have never had visa denied, or anything like that. So bare that in mind when I talk about documents.
My interview was scheduled for 8:20, and I got to the Consulate at 7:20. I found the line outside of the building for the K1 Visa with no problem and I put my cellphone to be stored in the private service provided there. It costs R$7 and you pay when you retrieve your phone. The people there are super nice and they show you the exit you'll use to come out of the building, and where you will retrieve your phone. Remember: no electronics or big purses allowed inside the Consulate!
Soon after I was in line, the famous Alex appeared... read complete review

Well, my interview was yesterday, and it was better and easier than I have ever thought it could be, I was so so so nervous at first, that later I became numb, I just couldnt feel anything anymore, I was prepared for everything, I prayed and I just trusted in God and let it be! If I could give some advice for you who is reading this right now is: Don't be afraid, stay calm, if you are being truthful and honest, you have no reasons to be afraid at all, everything is gonna be alright. So, my interview was scheduled at 9:20 am, I arrived very early like 8 am, there was a huge line, but its not ours, it's for the nonimigrant people, and you keep going you are going to see our line, if you don't find it its super easy, you just have to ask some of the guys with a orange t-shirt, there will be a lot of them, believe me! When you get in into the consulate, alex is going to give you 2 papers for you put like you address, your fiancee's address, both of you guys e-mails, the address where you s... read complete review

I just had my interview today, so I can finally write my review/statement/opinions here
Medical Exam:
I had my medical with Dr. Garrido, in Rio de Janeiro. To be honest, my first choice was the one in São Paulo, since it is easier for me to go there, but after contacting both of them, I decided to go to RDJ.
It is true: they only like to be contacted through email, so they’ll give you no information through the phone. The positive side is that Tania will send you everything you need to know, and if you forget it you just need to read it over and over again. She sent me the exams I would have to take (X-Ray and Syphilis), and a list of all the vaccines I should take.
If you are thinking on going to RDJ prior to the interview just for the exams I can assure you that a one day trip is time enough - there is no need to sleep there.
Tania is very professional - almost dry - and I say that so people will be ready for it, be... read complete review

Medical in Rio
As of September, 2015, there is only one place to do it, Dr. Aurelio Garrido in Leblon. Scheduling was easy, all done via e-mail - they prefer that over calling them. You will have to schedule the x-ray by phone, it's done two blocks away from the doctors office and the bloodwork doesn't need to be scheduled, it's done on the same building. The doctor will send you a file with instructions, read the whole thing and there won't be any issues.
I landed in Rio at 10:30am (Santos Dummont Airport), took a bus to Leblon and was done with all medical part (consultation, bloodwork and x-ray) and eating lunch by 1:30pm.
Also, take the shots you need to take before going to the doctor, you can get them for free at a public hospital instead of having to pay for them on a private clinic on the spot. Print the shot list and take that with y... read complete review
