Review Topic: K1 Visa

Everything is smooth there. Alex is very helpful and of course pay attention to what he says.
I arrived there around 6:55 a.m and stood on the line waiting for Alex. There wasn't many people for K1 visa. I was the first one. My interview was scheduled to 7:20. Alex showed up around 7:10 and asked my name, where I was and what time my interview was. He's going to check on his list. After that he asked us to follow him untill the room where the interview is. You guys know the procedures. Sit on last line and wait for him to give the form and list with all the documents you need. Shortly he'll explain how to fill in the form with CAPITAL LETTER. Yes you can take a look on your fiancé information to fill in. So pay attention to that. He goes through everything on the list and will tell you that DS 230 is NOT needed anymore. DON'T forget to bring the SWORN declaration. After filling the form and having your documents ready, talk to Alex. Don't stand up. Just look at him and say y... read complete review

Rio consulate is very organized with great staff. There's nothing to be afraid of, I had a great experience even with the red flags in our case.

My interview was schedule at 8:20 AM but I arrived at 7:30 AM. I was the first to arrive there, the staff Alex gave me a list of documents to put in order, he checked the documents and asked me to wait. Another employee of the consulate called and checked all the documents, and informations there! After she asked me to wait for the official cosular call me by my name.
After waiting around an hour, the consular official called me. At first she was very serious, she asked me to take the oath to only say the truth and after it she joked that computer didn't like her because it was very slow!

She asked me:

How and when me and my boyfriend met?
In which company my fiance works?
What does he do at work? (She wanted to know about his routine at work and job tittle)

Visa approved!

The interview took about 3 minutes.
All staff are very attentive and do everything to make you calm, there is no reason to worry... read complete review

The interview itself was very quick and straightforward--the easiest part of the process. We arrived early and the interview was over before our scheduled time. They give you a short form to fill out and a list with the order of documents when you arrive, and we wished we had had that ahead of time--that list needs to be available online in an easy place to find. But everything was fine in the end and our K-1 visa was approved! The interview happens at a window, standing up. The consular officer, a woman in her thirties, asked two questions of my fiancee: how did you meet your fiancee, and have you ever been married (and asked also if the petitioner had been married). She said "I'm going to cancel your tourist visa now", and took out a big stamp and cancelled it. We knew at that point that the visa was approved. She then said "your visa is approved and will arrive in (I can't remember how many) business days".
