The process is really simple. When you arrive, ask the officials outside and they will point out the correct entrance. Don't wait in the regular line. I arrived an hour before my scheduled time and was allowed in. Everything is divided in 3 steps:
1st: The famous Alex will give you a list of documents and the right order to put them. do that, then he will call your name and tell you to go to another line. he will check your documents and give them back to you.
2nd: someone else will call you in order of arrival to actually give all documents for processing. the consul (maybe its just a general worker, im not sure) will check spelling on name, ask if you've ever been to the US, about your previous visas and such. really simple answers. After that, he will tell you to wait in another line. that will be the actual interview line.
3rd: american consul will call you by name. There were two locations assigned for interviews when i went (oct 25th). your n... read complete review

The experience at Consulate was pretty positive. When we arrived at place, we had to find the specific line for K1-visa and someone there will take you into the interview room. There was Alex who gave us a page for us to fill out with personal information (info's about applicant and petitioner - address, e-mail, phone number) and the other page, is a checklist with the documents that you have selected for the first part of interview - Yes, the 1st part, they will check your documents and if is all ok, you can do the interview. If not, they will give you some time to provide what they requested. The 2nd part, they'll call for your name and you'll talk with the consulate employee who will inquire about the relationship. If your documents are ok and the consul feels satisfied about your answers, you will be approved. They said that the passport will arrive at our addresses around 2 weeks.

Arrived (walking from Santos Dumont Airport, quite nice to be so close) at about 7:30 for an 8:20 interview. After paying R$10 to some guys on the street to keep each cell phone (didn't want to be in another city without them) we were ushered right in. They allowed us to take a stroller and it was pretty painless to bring in my son's diaper bag as well. When we got upstairs we were instructed to sit in a specific row and waited until the famous Alex called my wife's name. I brought a ton of documents, but they only wanted the basic ones from the interview letter and my financial support documents (only wanted last years tax form). From there, moved to the first row of seating and waited to be called to the window. Each step only took 10 minutes max, person at the window looked at all the documents, gave us back our originals and told us to wait for the interview. Ten minutes later, we were called for our "interview", guy asked us what date we married and how we met and then said he... read complete review
