Per my fiancee's experience, she arrived about 90 minutes before her scheduled interview at 9 am and the wait ended up being about 3 hours long. She was called to interview, and was asked how she met me, how I proposed to her, and whether I'd met her family. She was then told that the K-1 visa was approved and to expect it in the mail in about 2 weeks. Overall was a peaceful and painless experience.

The day of the interview was pretty straight forward and well organized. We had a 7:40 interview but arrived just before 7. The consulate opens at 7 and there was a line with about 10 people already when we arrived. Everybody goes through security and then upstairs to the area for immigrant visas.

Then there are 3 steps once you arrive upstairs. First, there is a basic form to fill out and a checklist of documents to separate. You then take the documents and the form to somebody who performs a brief check and directs you to a line. Second, you will be called to a window where somebody will perform a more thorough check to make sure you have all the documents. Finally, you will be called to the interview. By this point, the officer has already reviewed your case and asks a few questions either in English or Portuguese. She asked us 5 or 6 simple questions like how did you meet, when did you start dating, where will you live, when are you planning to get married. The inte... read complete review

the Rio de Janeiro consulate is very organized and people are polite and helpful. We arrive at 8:15 and were interviewed at 10:15 approximately. The documents were reviewed twice before the actual interview, first by a person on the "floor" and then by someone behind the glass window. In this second revision you will already know if you have everything. I saw quite a few people be told they had something missing. The final interview with an American officer was quick and they had obviously reviewed all the documentation form the original K-1 petition. They asked 4 or 5 questions about our relationship and that was it. Approved. I recommend everyone looking for information really take a look at the Rio consulate website and follow the document list posted there, that is exactly what they ask for, so make sure you have everything. Instructions are clear.

Fui a primeira a ser chamada, fiz o juramento virifiquei a digital e me fez as seguintes perguntas:
Como se conheceram, quantas vezes já se viram e pronto seu visto foi aprovado !
