Got there, was admitted, went upstairs to fill some papers, then was called to have my documents checked, received a paper for the payment. Went downstairs to pay for it (I paid it in R$ but it could be in $), came back, handed the receipt to the very nice guy who was helping everybody there, then some minutes later I was called by my name to a little room.
The interview was really nice, even though I was very nervous. The interviewer was polite and didn`t make a lot of questions (just basic stuff like "where did you meet your fiance?", "how long have you been together?") and didn`t request any documents or pictures. Just in case, I put my folder full of things in front of him and made sure he saw my engagement ring (like I said "just in case").
We spoke in Portuguese the entire time, even though he asked me if I spoke English and I said yes.

The consulate was uncrowded and everyone we dealt with was professional, helpful, and friendly. The agent who conducted the interview put us at ease. The whole process was easy.

Hey everybody,
I would like to give you a brief explanation of my experience in the consulate on the day of my interview. First, I would like to state that my husband flew from the United States to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil just to accompany me in the interview, we wanted to make sure everything would be correct. Our interview was scheduled at 07:30 am and we got there at 07:00 am. For those of you who don't know, we can't get into the building with any type of electronic equipment but calm down, literally right next to the building, specifically in the corner there is a guy who saves your phone for R$10 ($2) while you are inside. You get scared in the beginning but don't worry because he is there doing that for years and everyone goes to him. Also, if someone forgot to bring a document and needs to print, there are also places that you can pay to access computers.
