After 3 years of paper work and submissions, and many videos of how an interview might go, I expected a formal interview. It was my wife's second green card. We have been married for 33 years and had to surrender the first green card when she remained in Brazil to care for her ailing mother. We traveled to Rio from Fortaleza, during the Covid pandemic.

We did her bio-metrics at 7:15 at the ASC, maybe a 20-minute drive away from the consulate. Arrived at the Consulate at 7:40, and discovered that only the beneficiary could enter the building. I had done all the paperwork, so knew it better than my wife, but only she was allowed to enter. So husbands/family members, be prepared for a 3-hour or 4-hour wait on the sidewalk or a coffee shop across the street.
