We arrived before 7a.m. and came upon a long line. This line is for non-immigrant visa's. Go towards the front of this line and there is a small line for K1 Visa's. We were second in line. There is a little coffee shop across the street for cafe and pao de queso . Right at 7:30 we were marched upstairs to a small room with about 50 chairs. There was a woman at the desk who handed out two forms. One for the fiance to fill out, short and general. The other, was the order which the forms should be in, written in Portuguese. It is the same list as on this site. She calls each fiance up and goes over each form of the application, all pretty much to see if it is in order. Then in another 20 minutes we were called to a room, where a woman, who appears more official, goes over every form to make sure all is in order. Make sure it is!! The biggest mistakes we saw, were passport photo's not showing both ears. Ladies, pull your hair back for your photo. We had 2 se... read complete review

We arrived at the Consulate in Rio at approximately 07:00 and we had several people ahead of us waiting for their interview. We FINALLY had our interview at 15:15. They were a little slow... The Officer asked us both questions about our relationship and reasons for marriage, etc. He was direct, but kind. We received the Visa Package in the mail within a few days.
BTW do NOT stay at Formule 1 Hotel, someone on this website recommended it and it was disgusting. And the city is the filthiest city I have visited. We arrived at the dirty hotel late, then received visa, and finally jumped in the car to drive as FAST as we could out of that God forsaken city. I pray God will clean up the city. GBU

Everyone was extremely polite. Both of us were allowed to be in the room during the interview. They even had two chairs already inside.

As I am one of those annoying people who like all the details ahead of time, I am going to write my review for other people like me - who like details, details, details!! However, the quick and dirty of it all is that we were approved. The process is very smooth, and extremely relaxed. We didn't feel like we were on trial for murder, and everyone was nice and helpful. No need to worry or stress if you have everything in order. And if you don't, they will help you as best they can.
For the detail oriented: My husband's interview was on the 15th and we were approved. This is how it all went down.
We filed DCF, and while we were notified by email that the I-130 was approved, we were not notified by email that the interview had been scheduled. I actually sent an email towards the end of April (We sent in the packed saying that we were ready for the interview on April 4th) asking what was going on. They replied back saying that the interview was on the... read complete review
