Review Topic: K1 Visa

Since I don't live in Nassau, I flew in the night before my interview. Luckily, my sister lives there so I didn't have to worry about booking a hotel, car etc. In fact, she literally lives right around the corner from the Embassy so I knew the horrible Nassau traffic wouldn't be a problem. Anyway, the week before, my fiancé had FED-Exed my sister (since there's no Fed-Ex locations on the island where I live) a packet filled with the sponsor form, a copy of our K-1 packet, our approval notices, our whats-app chat logs and copies of everything else we thought we might need to further prove our relationship. So when I got to my sister's apartment I was anxious to open the packet and organize it. Upon looking through it, I realized it was perfect EXCEPT she didn't include any new photos from our past year together since filing the K-1. I was so confused because she had PLENTY to choose from since she came to visit me twice in that time. The only pics in there were in the original K-1 petit... read complete review

Review Topic: General Review

The 1st Interview was awful. The officers were cruel and treated me as if I have done something wrong. This process was one of the worst in my life however it was worth it because I wanted my fiance (at that time) in the US with me. Since I am white and he was black they believed we weren't in a real relationship and I was just helping him. They requested more information/evidence to review. They questioned my background and my integrity trying to get me to slip up and make a mistake. They would re-word questions so you wouldn't really understand what they were saying in hopes that you would answer incorrectly to prove what they are saying. You have to be on top of your game and focus. Be confident and don't let them beat you down. Fight for what you are doing no matter how they judge you.
We left without answers and need to send in more information.

Great experience. Easy questions (about how we met, we we do for a living, etc). Interview was scheduled for the afternoon (to miss the rush). I felt much more comfortable about the whole process after arriving at the embassy than I did at any other point.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Ms. Darling of the US Consulate in Nassau was our contact person for my K1 interview. It was easy to communicate with her through email as I lived on another island. She was very accommodating to all my questions. My fiance planned to go with me during the interview, and when the Consulate advised that it would be better if he did, we were encouraged to go ahead with our plan.

From Freeport we went to Nassau a day before the interview. Our hotel was walking distance so getting caught up in traffic wasn't a problem. Nassau has very bad traffic. That night we reviewed possible questions that might be asked during the interview.

Our interview was scheduled on June 11, 2013 at 11am and we headed to the Consulate at 10am and stopped by nearby McDonald's for breakfast. After eating, we went to the Consulate and informed the guard that we were there for an appointment for a K1 visa interview. There were two security checks after the main gate. They informed Ms. D... read complete review
