We arrived in SYDNEY the day before our interview. We landed at the airport and took the train into the City. Trains are located one level down from the baggage claim. It costs about $12.20 and because we stayed at the infamous Travelodge on Phillip St we got off at St James station, about 15mins ride from the domestic terminal.
We took the Elizabeth St exit, turned right onto Elizabeth St and then right on King St and then left on Phillip St. It is about a 7min walk from St James station to the Travelodge. There is an entry on Elizabeth St, but it really is for the pokies. You can take this exit but will be walking through the bar and pokies with suitcases!
The Travelodge is a 3 star hotel. We were there for 2 nights and got a centre room. These rooms overlook a fake painted Italian Villa courtyard and the other rooms on the opposite side and there is no access for guests. This hotel is good for 1 or 2 nights but not really anthing longer than tha... read complete review

The Interview all went great with no hiccup. The US consulate personnel and consul officers are friendly, professional and respectful. All instructions I received were very clear. I was only asked minor questions even though my USC husband and I brought a big suitcase full of evidence of our marriage and ongoing relationship. It did take us up to 4 hours. It was a very happy experience overall.

This is the story of my K-1 visa interview.
I woke up early to head out at around 6:00 AM to make my way to the consulate. My appointment was for 8:00 AM on Friday. I drove to the train station and then took the train the rest of the way in, arriving at Wynyard station at around 7:30 AM. I walked down to Martin Place and headed into the MLC building. I went up to level 10 and to my dismay there was already around 20 people lined up at 7:45. There were a couple of families with kids and babies, a few couples and several people alone, myself included.
Security had started checking people not long before I arrived. I took out my interview letter and passport and waited my turn. I had to take my shoes off to go through the metal detector as they x-rayed my shoes and my bag. They kept my phone and my bag at security and I ended up carrying the vast majority of its contents since I only brought what I needed.
The security guys were all very nice... read complete review

Well, I am finally back from my 5 day trip to Sydney and my interview!! My Interview took place on Thursday, 12th April.Everything went well..except a minor hiccup...the $130 processing fee to the consulate was a money order cheque (the lady at the post office here in Perth told me that's what I needed- I wasn't so sure..so I trusted that she knew better!) I got to the lady who checks the paperwork (Dragon lady?)..she wasn't very nice/patient and she asked where my receipt was...and I responded that she was looking right at it (stuck to the outside of my passport) she responded that this is not the receipt..it's a receipt showing that I paid $130 to the US consulate general..but in the form of a money order..and that I cannot have my interview right now!! My stomach sank....and I felt a huge lump in my chest and throat...she then proceeded to say that if I went downstairs and paid another $130 at the post office get the correct receipt..I can then go back through security checks and up... read complete review

Let’s start from the beginning shall we...
Well flew into Sydney Thursday Morning arriving at 8.40am...
Got a train from the Airport to Central Station,
then a Tram to Haymarket, cost $15.20
where my Hotel was........ ,
can pre-pay tram and bus and train tickets at the station,
through a ticket vending machine.
Then got to my Hotel... Aarons on Ultimo Rd.around 10.00am
Dropped of my Luggage there,
as my room wouldn't be ready till 12.00pm Midday.
So I walked all around Chinatown where Haymarket is.
Across the road was "Paddy's Market"
where you could buy anything, for a price.
They even sold wigs there and I thought...
should I buy one for the interview nooooooo I didn't lol.
They also do sorta like Henna Tattooing there as well...
I though hmmm......
(remembering the day before I shaved my Head )
Wouldn't it be funn... read complete review
