The Sydney consulate is excellent. They are very efficient and responded to each of my emails. It took only 2 weeks for them to schedule the interview after sending in Packet 3. My interview took around 2 hours from entry to exit and they approved my K-1 on the spot.

The consulate staff were incredibly helpful. We were running out of time before the wedding (everything was already booked and paid for, including travel by family and friends on both sides), and emailed them to explain the situation. We did not yet have the police clearance, but they told us to send everything we had with a cover note explaining what wasn't there and why. Once received, they booked the interview, even without the documents required. Documents still hadn't arrived by the interview date, so they went ahead with everything and told me to send the clearance via mail once we received it. Did this, and they had the visa to me four days later. Absolutely incredible people. Very quick, very understanding and VERY helpful. Could not have hoped for a better experience.

I arrived at the MLC centre at 7.15am for my 8.00am appointment, jumping out of my skin and hanging to get in there and get through this D-Day! We all went through security and took a seat. There were 5 or 6 rows of seats, and after 10 mins or so the front row of people were called through to the interview area and grabbed a ticket and waited to be called up. I was waiting around seven minutes before i was called up to hand in my Visa fee receipt, passport and pre-paid satchel. I was asked to sit down again and a few more mins later was called up to sign a few things, she said that everything seems to be fine and to sit down again and a consular officer will call me up for the interview.
Only took a few more minutes and the lady asked me a few really basic questions, such us what does my partner do? Where does she live? Did she go to college? When are you getting married? Before she even asked me anything i could see my file sitting in front of her with a big 'APPROVED' stamped... read complete review

The interview was not even really an interview. We waited for a while until we were called to the desk where we submitted all the required paperwork. The man asked us some questions in a casual conversation way (things like - do you like living in Australia? Have you ever been to the US? How long have you been married... etc) and then sent us to another window to pay. Then we were told congratulations, you have been approved, you can go now and your package containing your visa will arrive in a couple of days.

Note: We changed addresses between submitting our application to apply and then the actual application, and although we gave them a new pre-paid self addressed envelope at the interview they ended up using the previous one meaning my visa went to the wrong address. Luckily we tracked it down but just thought it was worth mentioning.
