I had my appointment for 9am so I rocked up at 8:45am and was greeted outside by 2 Australian federal coppers who asked what time my interview was for. I told him 9am and he checked his watch and said I could go through to a completely empty room, I was expecting it to be full of other people. I was then greeted by 4 security staff members. One checked my passport and ticked my name from a very short list. The next security officer gave me the whole 'take off your belt, shoes etc..do you have a mobile phone' talk before scanning them. The third security officer was standing around enjoying the air-conditioner and making jokes. The fourth one was a woman at the counter where you drop off bags etc, she asked if I had any bags to drop off and I said that on the form it states not to bring anything and they all cheered...clearly most people bring stuff with them that needs to be checked She also asked me to take a drink from the bottle of water that I had and watched me... read complete review

WOW, it was a breeze!!
I had an 8am appointment, got there at 7:50 & waited at Level 10 for the office to open. Once i went in, I showed my re-scheduled appointment letter (was scheduled for Tuesday 24th but changed to Friday 20th) & passport, went through the security screening and left my belongings at Level 10. A guard showed me to the lift and I whizzed up to Level 59, with my wallet and a few papers they asked me to bring. Out of the lift and I presented my passport again, where the lady checked me off the list and unlocked the door into the interview area. I took a ticket and sat down. 2 minutes and I was called to a window to present my passport, my interview payment receipt, passport photo, Express Post envelope and my confirmation page. I was given my original documents back that I submitted with Packet 3, then I took a seat... the room was filling with nervous persons. I waited only 10 minutes and was called up again where a stern gentleman asked me a few questions. In... read complete review

K-1 visa interview review

After about an hours wait I had my interview. The woman interviewing me was pretty business-like (i.e. not friendly but not rude either.) She gave me my originals back and then started asking me questions.

Questions included:
- how many times have you been to the US
- when was your last trip and what was the duration
- what was the purpose of your last trip
- tell me about how you met your fiancee and the history of your relationship
- have you or your fiancee been married before
- do you or your fiancee have kids
- what does your fiancee do
- will she be able to support you
- what type of employment will you seek
- have you ever lived overseas (if so, where and for how long)
- have you met her family and what do they think of you
- has she met your family
- what are your plans for the wedding
- will your parents attend the wedding... read complete review

My interview was 24 Sept & scheduled for 10:30am - I arrived at the Sydney consulate at 10am, went through security (who were absolutely lovely, by the way - I was expecting a lot of intimidation, but was pleasantly surprised) which took less than 5 minutes.

I was then taken up to the correct level where I was asked for ID & checked off a list of names before being buzzed into the room. I then had to take a ticket for my visa type and take a seat. It was pretty busy (that's my only complaint about the whole interview process - my interviewer actually apologised to me and admitted they were very behind that day).

After an hour of sitting, my number was finally called and I went to a window where my prints were electronically taken (again! How many times do they need it for this whole process!?!). The lady behind the window wasn't very friendly but she wasn't unfriendly either - so pretty neutral, I suppose! She went through all my docs, asked me for anyth... read complete review
