I was a nervous wreck before the interview!
Flew in from Melbourne the previous night, stayed on York St, just a 5-6 minute walk from the MLC Centre.

Went up to level 10, went through security, and after leaving my bags with the lovely lady by the metal detector, I got into line to have my documents checked by one of two young women*

Went upstairs, took a number, and waited. I was called up to a window and had my documents checked by a really friendly lady. Back to waiting, and then called up to another window by a pretty stern looking dude.

Questions were:

How did you and your fiance meet? (and when and where)
When did you start dating?
When did you get engaged?
Where in the US does he live?
Have you been to visit him since he moved back?
Have you met his family, and has he met yours?
What does he do for a living?
What do you do for a living?

Then he said ... read complete review

It was very simple and easy however I was a nervous wreck!

I provided all the docs that was requested on the checklist. Took a ticket and when my number was called I went upto the window. A lady went through my paperwork, and just asked if I have lived in any other countries, ever been arrested etc. she then said to take a seat and I'll be called up for my interview. Again my number was called and I went upto the window (yes you will be interviewed in front of everyone) took my oath fingerprints etc and was asked the following questions:

- when did you meet
- how many times has he been to Australia
- why did we wait a year to file paperwork
- what does he do for work
And then he said your file is complete. I asked him if I had been approved haha and he said yes you have been approved must marry writhing 90 days etcetc and then came the tears! All in all it was very straightforward!

I went to my interview full of the normal nerves and jitters. The consulate staff were fantastic, putting me at ease right away. The interview was a lot easier then I thought, a total of 45 min from entry to exit time. It took about a week to receive the package and I am now in the US getting used to my new life.
Just a note; I had heard that airport immigration would need to see my chest x-ray on arrival in the US. This was not so. You would be best to double check before lugging it in your hand luggage

Much easier and nicer than I expected. They are professional but helpful - they are there to help you, not work against you. Will post more soon.

My fiancee and I were super nervous for his interview but he said the guy was nice and it was very quick and everything went smoothly and he was approved on the spot. He said it was incredibly quick and that the interviewer only asked about 4 questions, just simple questions about me (his US fiancee) what I do for work, and who our co sponsor is. All in all, it was a good experience : )
