My fiancé was told to arrive at the embassy at 1:30pm. He said that he gave his Birth Certificate, letter of non-marriage, police certificate, and I-134 to a gentleman at window 2. He then was asked to proceed to window 8 to pay the $100 visa fee and his fingerprints were taken. Finally, he was asked to go to window 5 where he was given a very brief interview by an American woman. He said that the interview process took roughly 10 minutes. He was asked what he plans to do in America and the interviewer also asked to see some photographs of us together. The interview was in french and he said that the woman was very friendly. It has been a pleasure working witht the Algiers embassy. The people who work there have been very friendly and helpful to us.

The Interview was very long in full detail. We had to file a 601 waiver and will wait the response from Rome. Consulate has always been very responsive in returning emails giving full details regarding our case.

Regarding filing the I-130 form for Spousal Visa...per a phone call to the American Consulate in Algiers yesterday, January 27th, 2007...there is a hold on all filings of this form for spousal visas at this embassy. I was told that all forms for Spousal Visa filings must originate at the USCIS in the United States and can be filed by mail or online. The employee of the embassy that I spoke with was very friendly and helpful in instructing me what to do in regard to this and also told me that more than likely the spousal visa paperwork would be more time consuming than the K-1 fiance visa.
