I went with my husband on the day of his interview, but did not go inside. We first went at 9:00, he gave them the medical exam papers, paid $131, and then was told to come back at 1:00 for the actual interview. He didn't come out until 3:00, he was the last one interviewed.
He said the American guy he talked to was very nice and they spoke in English during the interview.
He asked basic questions like when did your wife first come, how long she stayed, where do you live together, asked about the wedding, looked at our photos and asked questions about those, etc.
My husband was then told he was qualified for the visa (YAY!)
He was then told to come back in 2 days to get the visa at 11:30. We went back at 11:30, the visa was not ready. They told him to come back at 3:00 which we did and it was ready at that time.
I think overall, the embassy is difficult to contact. I've emailed them several times and did not get any response or other times got a r... read complete review

We arrived at the Tirana Consulate at about 8:30 am on the day of our interview (March 12th), roughly half an hour early for the 9 am appointment. The entrance to the consulate is quite strange, and is located in an alleyway. You will most likely have to ask one of the guards where to go for your interview, because it is a very obscure location. They had everyone (about 10 people or so) wait outside until 9 am, when they started calling people's names. They called the names one by one and the people proceeded through security (no cell phones, belts, cameras, etc). They would not let any US Citizens in at that time, they are only permitted between 2-4 pm Monday-Thursday. Adriano went inside while I waited (quite nervously!!), with his brother outside. There is a little caffe right outside the entrance to the consulate, where you can sit and wait for those who are interviewing inside.

Meanwhile, this is what Adriano told me was happening inside....

I don't h... read complete review

Review Topic: General Review

i found calling the embassy to be fairly easy...even though there is only a short period within which you may call, i did always manage to get through and speak to someone...the people on the phone are, in my opinion, apathetic, but my fiance said that when he called they were sooooo nice to him...yea, i think its because hes albanian

my case was mistakenly sent to naples instead of tirana, so i had to have the embassy in tirana request that the naples consulate transfer the case over...the embassy in tirana told me that i have to submit the transfer request in writing and to fax it over to them

they gave me two different numbers which i tried at least two dozen times, at various times of day, over the period of a week...both numbers would consistenly show me that the line was busy or there was no answer...finally, i faxed the letter to my fiance in italy and had him try...he tried ALL DAY and finally got through somehow...oy vey

Well, my fiance was denied on Thursday. My fiance was scheduled for 9 a.m. on 4/12/07. We had lots of proof, photos from my visit in 12/06, proof of our first meeting 05/06, e-mails, cards, phone records, chat logs, etc. He was interviewed by an American Man and an interpreter. I believe this man was the Assistant Consul.
He was asked the following:
1-how do you know her?
2-where does she live in U.S.?
3-what is her phone number?
4-how do you communicate?
5-how many brothers and sisters does she have?
There may be more and I'll add them to this review later when I speak to my fiance.....and the shock has worn off.
He was asked to return at 4 p.m. and was given a letter with 221g section checked off and "Revocation Recommmended" and his passport was returned.
They told him that he's only attempting to marry for immigration purposes. There is a section of this letter where they COULD HAVE checked off: medical reasons, cr... read complete review

My husband said that they asked him how we met, where did we meet? how long we have been knowing each other and when was the last time I had seen him. My husband had copies of tickets to show the times I had gone to Albania, pictures of us, however they did not ask to see any of it.
