  1. Thank you so much for your responses. I cannot tell you how much they mean to me. I don't have any family or friends that understand this - and I feel pretty alone in this process. I'm glad I decided to write. In fact = I was so excited when I read these this morning that I called my fiancee immediately. :)

I am using airline miles to pay for our travel and they don't have any tickets through JFK. But I will keep calling to see if they do. I'm even wondering if it would be worth it to purchase the ticksts - but this whole thing is pretty expensive so I'm not sure if I will.

I am off to church now but will write again later today. I still have questions and it just feels good to talk to others about this.

    Thanks so much again.

    Tali

It is up to you about rerouting through JFK, I know some of the guys loved being able to work right away. Michael really wanted to, but in the end I'm glad he wasn't able to - and so is he. There is really a lot to learn and adjust to once they get here and I felt that was job enough for him.

Like some others mentioned, getting your fiance enrolled in some classes does wonders. If you are close to anything - a bike gives him a little mobility so he is not completely stuck in the house. And depending on your state, he could possibly get his license within a few months after he gets here - then you get the fun task of teaching him to drive in the States :lol: That was VERY challenging!

  2. Hey Tali - congrats on making it to the interview -- good luck, I'm sure you guys will be just fine. I'll try to answer some of your questions. Our interview was in October last year so if anyone has more updated information feel free to correct me:

    1. For the Affidavit Of Support - you just need your information as long as you meet the financial requirements. If you don't, that's when you would want to get a sponsor.

    2. The DS156 and the DS157 get turned in at the Embassy. As long as you have your receipt, don't worry about what Paymaster told you.

    3. You don't need the I-864 yet, just the I-134... you have it right. You'll fill out the I-864 after he is here and you adjust status.

    4. I would hope you have his visa within 8 days, a lot of people do, but it is hard to say. I know our visa got delayed, but others have no problems. Just in case, bring what you need so that you are prepared to change your tickets, that way it won't catch you off guard.

    5. As far as I know, work visas are only being handed out in NY.

    6. This is hard and everyone adjusts differently, but you guys will get through it. Come join us in the Yardie thread and you'll hear about our day to day happenings as our husbands adjust and you'll get lots of great ideas. You just have to take it one day at a time. Its hard work but well worth it! As far as him getting his work authorization and what to do next... you'll have to go through the AOS and EAD process. You'll do this after you get married. The first things you want to check out are getting his SSN and a marriage license.

Good luck at your interview :luv: Let us know if you have anymore questions.

  3. Evening family,

I just found out that someone else was selected for the job I interviewed for. I guess it was not what the Lord has in store for me.

I will be going out of town for a family affair this weekend and then leaving Tuesday for Atlanta for a convention. When would I have time to work anyhow :P

I'm sorry the job didn't work out, but you're right - that just means there is a better one out there. Have a good time over the weekend and in ATL.

  4. Hey all... just trying to catch up again:

Jax - I'm hoping my bundle of joy comes soon too! I would not mind if he came any time now... --Just 5 more days until you leave and 10 days to your wedding! You must be so excited. I'm sure him and your family will get along beautifully. Hope the days count down fast for you.

Kelly - Congrats to Craig for his new job!! I hope he likes it :dance:

Tenika - Loved your wedding pics, thanks for sharing them

SJB- Welcome home (L)(L) Hope you had a great trip.

Squitto - Double congrats to you!:dancing: --for your AOS approval and Squitto's job offer, you have good news all around! And your wedding pics were beautiful :luv:

To everyone else... I hope all is well - have a great weekend (F)

  5. Jax -- I agree with Rhonda 100%. The best proof of the relationship is you standing right there next to him. I would highly suggest you attend the interview. If my memory serves me......so far, at least in the past year, every time the woman WAS NOT there a problem arose and the approval was not given at that time.

    :yes::yes::yes: So so true

Just checkin in.....alls well over here. Craig is going to start a job tomorrow, working at a college. A good friend of mine is the President of the college and he'll be doing odds and ends stuff all over the college. He also had an interview today with a temp agency (for warehouse folks, etc). He had a 2nd interview for a laborer's job this past Sat and then I ran him all over applying for jobs at the 15 million grocery stores, Walmart, Kmart and Target that are near to us.

That's great news Kelly - I'm glad Craig is adjusting so well. I hope he had a great first day

Hi ladies, just stopping by to say hi,

I am gonna go and catch up, I am a little too excited to sleep, (then again I just might go and sleep).

I just came on to check my email and I must say thank you all so much for your kind words of advice all this time. If it was not for this thread I would have given up. A very special freindship came from this experience .I know I am going on as if I am all finish withthis process but that is not the reason I am saying thank you. It is because my I130 was APPROVED.Ican't believe it htey approved my petition in a little over 3 months.

    Great news :dance::dance: congrats!!

    Afternoon family,

Well I had a telephone interview for a job this morning. I think it went well.

 Good, keep us posted - I hope it is good news!

Well, I have more bad news again :( Tony's uncle was killed last night in JA! :o The only details I know is that someone broke into his house and shot him twice while he was sleeping!! It is just devastating. He was only 41 or 42 years old. This is the 3rd uncle of his who has died in the past year - 2 on mom's side, 1 on dad's side. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

:(:( OMG - that is crazy. I'm so sorry, this must be so hard on Tony - I'll be thinking of you guys (F)

Oh yes... and Welcome to the board Mindy2 :luv:

  6. Julie how are you and the baby doing? Kimone?

Sorry, I've only been lurking lately - I don't have as much time to post at work anymore. But we are doing just fine - I'm definitely ready for him to be born :yes::yes:

    Hi to everyone (L)

For all those waiting for approvals - I hope they come soon.

Just a quick "HI" to everyone.

I miss you guys and I have been crazy busy!! Dont think I dont love you....just dont have the net at home and have been way to busy at work to write.

Our AOS case got forwarded to Cali so I am waiting on an interview date....hopefully soon. I will holla again soon.

    Rita

Hey Rita! Good to see you again... glad everything is going well for you guys - congrats on getting sent to CA - that's great news

Hello ladies...I feel like I've been MIA for ages. I see that the Yardie thread still a gwaan good and is in it's 3rd installment. Welcome to all the new members, congrats to all the latest approvals and positive developments and my prayers go out to all those having issues. Squito and I just got back from oiur St. Lucia honeymoon last night. Our big wedding was just wonderful, we enjoyed every minute of it. I will try to get some pictures uploaded to share later. I hope everyone is doing well...

Glad your day and honeymoon were just what you were looking for - can't wait to see the pics (L)

  7. A little bit of good news - Damien's passed the written part of the drivers licence test :dancing: . It took forever

:dance: Congrats to Damien on passing his test - I know that drivers license is going to give you both a lot more freedom. Tell him good luck on the road test next month.

--Hope you have a great time on your trip (L) It's coming up so fast! Safe travels to you.

  8. Thanks for the info about shaving.....but....still neeeeeeeed more!!!! Please send more info, just trying to give him ALL kinds of ideas!!!

Jamie, I'm so happy that your babies have arrived back. There was a coyote sighting here in my area last week and it almost killed a little dog, but the owner was able to scare it off !

I always see Michael slap some alcohol on after he shaves. He doesn't have so much of a bump problem on his face on on the back of his neck - and the alcohol seems to keep those away.

JAMIE - So glad the dogs are back and will be ok. (L)

  9. We just got approved -- NO INTERVIEW!! Can you all see me dancing?!?!?!?!?!?

Application Type: I485 , Application to Register Permanent Residence or

    to Adjust Status

    Current Status:

On July 11, 2006, after approving your application, we ordered you a

new card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready.

    :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

  10. this question goes out to those who have already done their AOS interview..............

What where the questions you were asked? and what was some of the other proof of relationship you brought with you/(outisde of what was on the list).

I didn't bring much outside the list - just tried to hit everything on it if I could. And did multiples of some of the items. I put the stack on her desk when I got there and she never asked to see a thing. I even asked her at the end of she wanted to see some of it and she said no.

She went through one of the papers we had submitted... can't remember which one... and basically verified the questions on it - she was asking Michael if he worked, his address, DOB, SS#, just the stuff on the forms. The only thing she asked not from the forms was about our pregnancy.

It really was VERY easy - nothing to worry about.

  11. Michele - Get some rest  You can organize and put away later. I'm so glad Tristan is feeling better and you can find some good coming from the situation.

Dee - That's hard, did you ask her what it was for? Does Dave know? I agree, it is weird she needs it all of a sudden - as if you haven't been sending something consistently - sound fishy to me too.

  12. Hi Everyone,

Hey Jamie (L) Good to see you again, I was wondering where you ran off to. We missed you - glad to hear everything is going well with you guys

    I've been touched twice :dance::dance::dance:

    Yay! Congrats! :dance::dance:

FINALLY.....USCIS sent the IMBRA RFE to me TODAY..i hope to get it next week

if you can't tell i am just a likkle bit excited about this...:lol::lol:

That great news!! ...I guess. Hmmm - that's the first time an RFE has been great news, but congrats just the same

:dance::dance::dance::dance: Im going to party!!!! like its my birthday

:lol: Have a great time Popcorn!

Happy Friday to everyone! Have a great weekend. (F)

  13. Eat something greasy for me and something healthy for Elias ;):P

I really wish greasy and healthly could go in the same sentence :hehe:

Julie-how are you coping with the weather? Are you uncomfortable? It's been very hot here and I can't stand it.

Tristan goes back to the hospital today for a follow up appointment. I hope every thing goes ok. When they released him they didn't give him anything for pain or even antibotics

    Everyone have a great day.

    Michele

What?!! How can you not give him something for the pain when he's been shot??? Seriously, that makes no sense. We're still praying for him, I hope he has good news at his checkup.

I'm doing fairly well with the heat - we keep the air pumped in the house and work is usually pretty cool too, I can't say I've been venturing outside a lot though - its just too uncomfortable.

    __________

Who got stuck working today???

  14. Just checking in... It's been a trying week for us. Tristan's health is slowly improving but we still don't know what the future holds...

I have the 5 days off; most of the time will be spent moving.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

    (L)(L)

We're thinking of and praying for you and Tristan. Hope your move goes well, I know you have other things to think about right now.

My heart goes out to you. We are praying for Tristan's complete recovery. We went on the interview yesterday. We were told they have a backlog and may be 3-5 months before we hear anything.

Hopefully it will come much faster than that - I'm glad you're through the interview, at least you don't have to worry about that anymore.

We are going to Taste of Chicago today and on Monday we are going to the Caribbean Festival of Life. Beenie Man is performing on Monday and I really want to see him. Neither Roy nor I are fond of crowds....it remains to be seen if we can make it to two "festivals" in two days [/color]

Eat something greasy for me and something healthy for Elias ;):P Hope you guys have a great time!

  15. Hi all,

    Shar

:dance::dance: Congrats!! The time will fly by. Packet 4 is about the only thing we received in the mail. I hope they get it to you so you don't have to make another trip to the Embassy. Good luck at your interview :D
