Hi all

I want to file for citizenship for my wife based on marriage , my question is we only have a translated copy of our marriage contract from egypt we never went to city hall to get legaly married here in the US so we do not have a US marriage certificate , so can we fill the N400 for citizenship with our translated copy of the marriage contract from egypt or we have to go get married in cityhall ?

the best way for waleed to get his credit started is to get a secure credit card u use your own money for a year and then they return it to u and give u a credit line , we live in california so u guys are wellcome to visit when u come to CA . good to hear from u tell waleed hi , im mina by the way

Isn't the one to the Nvc the only one that needs that? I thought an updated one doesn't need any of that.

my wife kept a copy of the translated one that i sent to the NVC they didnt ask for it when she went to the interview but just to be in the safe side

do we need to notarize it with the ministry of external affairs,

yes bondoaaa it needs to be translated and you will need the stamp of " wezaret el garegia "

my wife just got her passport they delivered it to her an hour ago it took 11 days from the interview date , guys keep checking the DHL site because it change during he day yesterday morning it said scheduled as agreed and by 8pm LA time it said that package left the embassy at 1030 pm egypt time so i guess DHL in egypt works 24 hours in picking up mail , i really wish good luck to everybody heer may god give u peace and patient and reunite all of u with ur loved one . mery xmas to everybody and happy new year .

I just tracked my husband's case a few minutes ago and it still says scheduled for delivery as agreed. It hasn't updated today which I don't know what that means. I hope eventually it says differently tomorrow.

well GOOD NEWS DHL web site said sched as agreed in the morning but i checked now and my wife's passport is on the way it left the embassy at 1030 pm didnt know they pick up that late so its just matters of few hours and she will have the passport in her hands. it was 1 year and 5 days journey but thank god its over now good luck to everybody and wish u the best merry xmas thats my xmas gift

I called the DOS today to check for the AP. My husband was placed on the AP. The lady told me not to purchase a ticket for him yet. Not until visa is visiable in their system. I pray that the AP will be for a short amount of time.

U CALLED DOS ? u mean department of state ? if he had the interview just yesterday how would they know that he is in AP remmber the embassy is closed on friday unless the embassy is realy that quick to inform DOS to put him in AP right after they interviewd him ( same day ) !!????? i would call the embassy themselfs on sunday to ask . the other thing maybe they already decided to put him on AP before the interview ? but if thats the case why would the CO tell him 7-10 days max ?

Yeah, I don't understand this either. It is very frustrating. I had my interview 3 weeks ago and still nothing! I am happy that we are not in AP, but I don't care what we are in, It doesn't matter if they call it AP or Consular officer's review....I just want the visa in hand! At least we are all in the same boat and it is nothing unusual with our cases. I imagine it is in a few more days, but it is an annoying process.

Anyone else whose visa has been approved and is waiting for it to arrive in the mail - do you keep getting regular notifications that the "delivery is scheduled as agreed." If the visa is ready to be mailed and it's just sitting there, does anyone know why it isn't sent right then. Why do they keep it for a week or however long? Are they finalizing it during that time, or trying to accumulate a larger batch of visas to send out all at once?

i just wonder if they say in the interview u r approved and they keep ur passport and tell u u will get ur visa in 1-2 weeks and then people do not get it in 1-2 weeks sometimes not even in 1 month why dont they say this in the interview like we will put u in AP do not have ur hopes up high ????????? is it all the sudden after the interview is over they decide the person need to be in AP ? didnt they review the whole file before the interview >? just never understood that but i guess its like a lot of twists in the whole processthat cant be explained

It is 545am where I live so it is 145pm in Egypt and I hope you are done and APPROVEDDDDD!!!!!

THX dear for the warm wishes . my wife said the interview was very easy the lady was nice same regular question how do u know him , when was last time u met , if im still working in the same job , where do i live , my wife said it took less than 10 minutes and then lady asked her if all the info in the application is correct and asked her to sign and told her u r approved and u will recieve ur passport in 1 week .

UPDATE!!!! Good news everyone my wife has been approved for her Visa! The interview went fast! She said the lady was nice, and asked her only a few questions..When did you get married? What I do for a living? Do we have any kids? Then asked for pictures. Then said that she was approved, and took her passport and said that this should ship via DHL in about one week or two. I'm happy she got approved. I will keep you all updated once her visa arrives! Good luck everyone!

Yes, I did all the paper work while I was there. My son now has an American passport and can travel when ever now... the process was so quick compared to my wife who's paper work was submitted on Jan 2011 almost one year ago!

ok i did the same thing but they told me at the embassy since my son was born in egypt if the father is not traveling with the mom you will need to get him an egyption passport other wise u might have a problem in the airport i didnt even believe that so on my way back to the states i asked an immgration officer in cairo airport and he said yes he needs an egyption passport with his birth cirtifcate to be shown to leave egypt

No I'm not in Egypt right now. I was there for three months as we just had a baby (two months now). So i told her to bring pictures of us and the baby.

I am hoping soon there will be no reason to need this thread because cairo will have caught up and people will get their interviews within 2 months.

But anyone and everyone can keep this thread going. It has been a weath of information for us all.

I will check on it but I will step down soon from updating it. I just took over updating it when amber got her interview. So maybe soon somone else will step up and take over. But so far everyone on this current list has an interview date. Thanks God

I have a question guys

there is a friend of mine who got married in Egypt on June 28 2009 from an american woman and his wife left Egypt on July 14 2009 and his wife did not visit him since she left but they kept contacting each other and he got his interview on Nov 22 2011 at the american embassy in Cairo Egypt and at the interview the consular officer told him that she is not convinced that their marriage will be permenant maybe as his wife did not visit him since she left for about 29 months and his wife was married before and got divorced and the consular officer asked him to send proof of relationship like phone bills,pictures, letters and e mails and he sent them pictures , letters and e mails.

my questions are these things ( letters, e mails and pictures ) enough to prove their relationship?? and does the consular officer have right to deny the visa despite the fact that it was approved from NVC??

if the visa is denied what things must be done after that??

plz guys answer my questions as my friend is in a very bad mood and I do not have any idea about this matter .

by the way all the documents needed were submitted and his wife changed her name and got his family name and sumbitted the affidavit of support.

well from what i saw here your firend has a red flag if you are married they expect you to have some kind of real realtionship but for them to be away for 2 and half years without seeing each other its a big red flag unless she can prove that she has a very good reason not to come and visit him , and yes the CO has the right to deny your case even if it is approved by immgration and NVC they will return the case back to USA for further evaluation if they feel there is fraud.
