  1. I met my fiancee through her aunt, whom I work with. We began chatting and seeing each other on-line in May of 2010. I then went to visit her in November for two weeks. We filed for the K1 in February and we received our NOA2 in July. Since returning from Thailand, I've kept any receipts of presents I've sent (her Birthday, Valentine's Day) chat logs, e-mails, pictures taken of her on-line, and my cell phone statements showing the calling card number. I'll even include receipts from the Thai books I've purchased. I would imagine this would be enough for the interview. Of course, I still would love to visit her again. She's very supporting in knowing this is a big expense for me, so she's said to wait (I wanted to see her when her father passed away a couple months ago). I still check the airfares so I can't rule out going, even if she should be here around November'ish. At this point, I might and wait to meet her in Bangkok for the interview. Then we can visit her family before coming here. However, in a nutshell, I think we'll be fine even if I don't go, but one more visit would surely help.

  2. Two of the forms, the 129F and the letter of intent, require my fiance's signature. So I emailed him the forms and he printed them out, scanned them and emailed them back. Due to the length of time to send something by mail from India to the US this is the most efficient way to do it, but are the scanned copies of the forms acceptable? I called the USCIS to ask and they said, they didn't know, and suggested I submit the K-1 application with the scanned forms, and if it gets denied, resubmit in. (I told them this defied logic altogether and was an sheer waste of my time and theirs)

When I was gathering everything for my I 129F packet, etc., I ran into this same question with our letter(s) of intent. Unfortunately to eliminate any RFE's, a fresh signature for the both of you is the way to go (as well as Form I 129F). We were delayed ourselves because I had to wait for my fiancee to send hers, but the wait and piece of mind were worth it. Hope that helps.

  3. hello, I think you just have to communicate with the consulate office and inform them of your concerns. The approved petition can automatically extended for another 4 months. My Fiance also called the NVC and USCIS, as earlier we were also quiet worried of our petition expiration date, very approaching. He was informed that we should be alright as we are now on process. The 4 months duration is just an estimate to do all the paperwork, but it can be extended. Hope this helps you. Probably other more experienced members could come in and give you more concrete answer.

God bless us all in this journey. :)

I could be extending our petition as well, and I asked this question a little while back. Several people were kind enough to say the same. As long as we're in contact with the embassy and tell them of our concerns, we'll get an extension. Hope this helps too.

  4. Hi, I found a package that left on 7/21, tracking # Waybill: 8872319223

Wow! How did you do that? I tried so many variations... It was signed on 7/25 in Bangkok. I would imagine it's mine. I e-mailed the embassy a few days ago (have to check the actual date when I get home) and they said they hadn't received it yet. I know it takes a few days to get into the right hands though.

    Thank you!

  5. I can't understand how people live with the uncertainty of being caught and looking over their shoulder every day of their lives. It must be one helluva stressful lifestyle.

Yes, I couldn't do that either. Always looking over your shoulder, not for me. Hopefully they will understand at some point and go about things properly. I'll get an update on them when I see my friend next month.

Ning you had a good example. They're surely more illegals than I know of. We've had issues where I work actually. Hopefully everything works out for the couple you mentioned.

  6. I was talking with a friend who visits our facility about once a month this morning. The last time he was here was before our NOA2. He asked how things were going and I gave him an update. I told him we received our NOA2 on 7/6 and we were on to the next step. He was happy for us. He then said my name came up in a conversation recently. He was talking with someone who has a daughter whose dating someone with an expired student visa. They have no plans on him returning to wherever he came from. My friend told them about me and what I (and all of us here) are going through to do it the right way. Guess he just heard excuses in response. Maybe they'll be caught, who knows. It's just frustrating to hear, and it probably happens more than we want to know. It does however feel good knowing that we're doing this the right way and will have no problems once we're together. I'm sure it will be a rough road at times, but not as rough if we were doing this the wrong way, and were caught.

  7. Yes, the transcripts will be good. No, I never sent in an original of my birth certificate or my passport. I think the embassy is more about the beneficiary at the interview except for the I-134 and its supporting documents, the proof of on going relationship, and a new signed and dated intent to marry of entering the US in 90 days. If you plan on being in Thailand for the interview then I would say yes give your passport for the beneficiary to take to the interview. I am curious to hear what other people think/or have done in the past about the originals of the petitioner for the interview.

Ok, I see now. I know I've read posts before somewhere where the petitioners are nervous about sending their original BC. I would be curious to know other peoples thoughts too. I won't send mine though. You're right, they're more concerned with the beneficiary now. They have a good color copy in my I 129F, plus I'm sending a copy of the entire package to May as well. I won't be going to the interview, but I might make a color copy of my passport and send it. I already included a copy of the ingoing and outgoing page in the 129F, though I might include the page with my picture this time. It can't hurt.

    Thank you again.

  8. Without the SSN on the tax transcript how could a person verify that it was yours? All of your personal info is already in the files. Send it to your fiancee through FedEx/DHL/UPS.

Yes, a very good point. Guess I'm just thinking of sending more items through the mail system. But I've had very good luck with USPS. When I've sent packages, they've been received by my fiancee in as little as 6 days.

  9. If you ordered your tax transcripts I would only send those and not your w-2's and 1040's. The tax transcripts show you actually paid your taxes, the embassy does take the w-2's with your 1040. I sent in the filled out I-134 with last 6 months pay stubs, the last 3 years tax transcripts along with a letter from my employer. I do not think you need the last 6 months pay stubs but I sent them. I never crossed out my SS# on the tax transcripts. When I sent in the I-129f I sent in a color copy of my birth certificate, I never sent in the original. Good luck. Hope that helps you.

Thank you. So the transcripts will be sufficient as that's actual proof, sounds right then. That's enough paper right there. I will send my pay stubs, maybe a few months worth as opposed to the 3 I stated. I'll keep the SS# then, as they could think something is going on. You never know. You never sent the original of your birth certificate after your NOA2? I'm going by the step by step guide in VJ and they say to send all originals that were submitted in the I-129F. I sent a color copy of my BC then too, so it's really ok that we don't send the original now?

  10. Hello everyone,

I'm gathering my financial info now. Along with my I-134, I'm submitting a letter from my employer, at least 3 pay stubs, and 3 years of federal tax returns and W2's. Upon researching about transcripts, it sounds like they're preferred, so I decided to order all of them for the last 3 years as well. They were faxed within 30 minutes or so. Is it now necessary to also include copies of my 1040's and W2's or would that be overkill? Probably wouldn't hurt.

Also, since the petitioner's are required to send these to our fiance(e), can I cross out my SS# on this paperwork? They already have it from my I-129F package. And in regards to sending all original documents from the I-129F, have people sent their birth certificates? I'm sure others are concerned about this, but it has to be done.

    Thanks again!

  11. ok thank you

I have another question... the question about how long do you intend to stay in usa and purpose of trip...

I think I should write 'permanent' and 'marry fiance and set up home with' - of course that is my intention, but should I write it like that?

    thank you

Yes, we're putting no as well for Q36.

On Q26 and 27 we have Permanently like you said, and Marriage and relocation to the USA. Check out the example forms. They're a good reference. I've used them for sure! Good luck.

  12. it'll be our 3rd week now and you're not the only one who stuck at nvc. for sure they got it but they haven't put on their system yet. hopefully we'll get our case number soon:)

We received our NOA2 on 7/6, and I started calling the automated number after 2 weeks (actually before). There was no record, so I decided to wait for an operator last night. They gave me our case number and our file was forwarded to the embassy on 7/22. I've read that the automated response system isn't updated at times, so it pays to speak with a live person. Hope everyone receives theirs soon!

  13. Yes, you should put your name and address. I did, and was fine.

Sounds good. Thank you. I already had my name written on the rough draft(s) while I wait for the info from my fiancee. But this was just another question that comes up while I wait. It's taking a little while to gather the information.

  14. Hello,

I asked questions regarding this a little while back, but I didn't think to ask this then. I'm filing these out for my fiancee, and will send them to her to sign when finished. Where is says "Application prepared by" on the DS 156 and "Were you assisted in completing this application" on the DS 230 P2, I was going to put my name. Would this be the right thing to do and would the CO have a question about if I prepared all the forms for her? Which I am of course... Or should I just put "No" and make it easier. The CO could determine at the interview that she might have had some help doing this. Just wondering what people have done in similar cases.

    Thank you.

  15. If it were me I would get the police report first since you need that for packet 3 and it takes a few weeks to receive. When she gets the police report have her ask to mail it to her. The police report is free, the mailing part most likely you will have to pay for. Get the medical done where ever it is easier for the both of you. Hopefully you get your BNK# soon and good luck.

Thank you again. Sometimes questions just come up during the day, and some still aren't the ones I want to ask... This one dawned on me a little while ago when I was looking over the list of documents again. I will let her know this, and tell her about them mailing the certificate back. That will make things easier for sure. Then she'll decide on the physical location. Yes, hope we receive the number soon.

  16. Hello,

Seems like I have a question a day... We received our NOA2 on 7/6. We're working on the paperwork in the mean time, but my fiancee is working 7 days a week third shift until 8/6. She's planning on going to Chiang Mai for the physical around 8/8 or 8/9. I'm encouraging her to go to Bangkok for both the physical and police certification instead. Especially now since it just dawned on me that we don't need to send in the Medical exam results with the packet 3 info, but we need the police cert for this, and it takes a couple weeks to get. If she still wants to go to Chiang Mai for the physical, I'll tell her to go to Bangkok first for the Police cert. Just to get that in process. Then go to Chiang Mai for the physical afterwards. I would think that would be the better route? Or did I answer my own question? Btw, I called again today and no case number yet.

    Thank you.

  17. Hello everyone,

We received our NOA2 on July 6th, (still waiting on the case number) and the exp. date is November 6th. I've read that as long as your interview is before that, you're ok. (of course) But does the same apply if the interview is scheduled after that? I think I've read that the CO will give an extension if that's the case? My reason is that if we have a difficult time gathering info, that may delay my fiancee sending in our information. It might not be the case, but I'm curious. We're going as quickly as we can now, but my fiancee is working third shift at a job until the end of the month.

    Thank you.

  18. For Thailand you do not need the police report to get the medical. Yes bring a copy of your NOA2, you should be able to scan it in and then email that and she can print it. That is a lot cheaper then mailing it. I think that is for the London medical you need that. Good luck.

Thank you Andy and Pui. Sounds right. I just read that at lunch today and hadn't come across it before. Just wanted to check.. I have my NOA2 scanned and I'll e-mail it to her before she goes.
