  1. I'll be picking it up at DHL, hopefully soon. POE will be the Bluewater Bridge at Sarnia/Port Huron. :)

Will we get an email or letter indicating it is ready for pick up? I re-read the 2 pages the Consulate gave us, but it doesn't specify how we will be notified.

  2. The hug was fantastic!! :D I'll be more relieved when the visa is in my hand, there's still that small bit of worry left... but having the interview over with is a huge weight off my shoulders :D

Congrats to the recent approvals and good luck to everyone who is about to go and interview!

Do you have to pick it up at the DHL office or they going to mail it to? Will the sealed envelope be sent aswell? Waiting and more waiting...have you decided on your POE yet? sorry for all the questions

  4. my husband went thru Pearson's in Feb and all you need is your passport and sealed envelope. I would arrive about an hour atleast ahead of time. Thats what he did and no problems. They did a full search on him and asked a few questions, nothing to stress over.

Does the sealed envelope get mailed with the stamped Visa and passport?

  5. Is it crazy that I cry every time I get to the approval part of peoples reviews... OMG I'm such a nerd!!

Nah that just means you'll be approved- your love is genuine :) :)

  6. Approved! :D Wrote my review already and everything :D

Left Brampton at 8am the day before, with only a few stops at rest stations for gas/food we made it to Montreal by just after 2pm. Stayed at Hotel la Tour Centre-Ville, which is by no means fancy (really outdated, not the most comfortable bed, weird room layout) but was relatively inexpensive and we were on the 15th floor and had a really nice view out the huge windows! There's also free wifi if you ask for an access code, but it is slower than dial up. The best part though, it's literally across the street and around a corner from the consulate. Unless you have to wait for the light to change, less than a minute walk! The parking lot for the hotel is much further away than the consulate is, even! We checked in, I went over all my documents and then we headed out with a friend of ours that lives in Montreal (friend from the site where Ramon and I met even, it felt fitting.) We had some dinner and saw some of the downtown area since it was a beautiful evening for walking and then headed back to the hotel. I checked documents again, took a shower and tried to relax and get some sleep.

I have a chronic punctuality problem, so we left the hotel at 6am. We weren't in line more than 5 minutes before there were two more people behind us, so I'm glad we were that early. The line grew and grew, I heard some others talking about VJ behind us which was nice! (Hi!)

They opened the doors at 7:30, asked for my appointment confirmation and both of our passports (as my fiance was with me). They then sent us up the stairs and asked for our belts and everything from our pockets. We went through the scanner and then were sent down the stairs to the basement where we sat right by the elevator. We talked to a couple other VJers and then we were all herded to the elevator, where any order we had arrived in got completely torn apart, which sucked. We were crammed in there pretty tight (all the smart VJ people at the back of the elevator, facing the doors) and when we arrived on the 19th floor is was a bit of a stampede to get out and get put in line for numbers.

I ended up with number C2. Very wuickly they started calling us by putting the ticket number and a booth number on a screen. I went up and was asked for my passport, my medical, my passport photos and they took fingerprints. He also wanted my appointment confirmation since it showed I had paid. I'd accidentally left that in the shopping bag I'd been carrying so I had to hop back to the waiting room to get it from my fiance, but the officer didn't seem to mind. He then told me they'd call me again when they were processing my file.

I sat back down and they kept calling numbers on the screen. Then a very fuzzy announcement said what SOUNDED like "C2 to window 11" but I wasn't entirely sure. Huge thanks to the fellow VJer who confirmed to me that's what they had said! So I went up and spoke with a nice lasy who asked for my birth certificate and a copy, my police check, my fiance's letter of intent, a photocopy of my passport's biographic page, and the affidavits of support + supporting info. I confirmed that all she wanted for my fiance was the form and a letter of enrollment for school and from his mother the form, her 2010 tax transcript and statements from her retirement (since that's the bulk of her income).

She looked over everything and told me to take a seat, they'd call me shortly, but as I was turning away said "Oh, I forgot! Are you registered for DHL?" I told her I was.

I wasn't sitting very long before my number was called again, I went to a both where a nice woman with long dreadlocks did my interview. She swore me in and confirmed my fingerprints and asked a few questions:

    -How did we meet?

-What book series the website we met on is about?

-Confirmed what year we met. (She said 2006, I confirmed it was 2004 online and 2008 in person)

-Asked where Ramon goes to school and what his major is

    -Asked how he proposed.

She was very soft spoken, so I had to ask her to repeat herself a few times which made me feel awful (I'm half deaf in one ear, so it may have just been me). Then she flipped through the file and frowned at her computer in silence for a couple of minutes. I was starting to worry, but she confirmed that she'd taken my fingerprint. I said she had then she laughed and said the computer was just being silly. She then congratulated me and said she could approve my fiance visa and gave me the welcome to the US letter and the K1 FAQ sheet and said she hoped my wedding went well.

All told, we were back at the hotel by 9am :D

It really is the easiest part of this entire process.

    HAPPY DAY INDEED....CONGRATS

  7. We got approved thank God. :) I am so happy I could jump up and down all day but I am at work so I think my boss would not appreciate that. :D

I hope we get that passport soon so I can go get my baby!

    Good luck to all!

    WAY TO GO!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS

  8. I'm leaving on Wednesday morning and getting back Friday evening (interview is on Thursday). I won't have internet while I'm gone so no review until Friday or Saturday. I know the interview is supposed to be easy but boy am I nervous! Butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it. I'm compensating by bringing every piece of paperwork and evidence I can think of. >_>; I have it divided into two sections, one section is what the consulate will definitely want and the other section is everything else.

Thank you for all your help VJ <3 I wouldn't be nearly as prepared without everyone's input here.

    ALL THE BEST POCHEROS!!!!!!

  11. Photocopy of biographical page of passport for Fiance????

I didn't see this on the checklist page? I don't have this, and I have only copies of my portion of the 1-129F application, not the entire copy of it, my fiance never sent me back his whole application...am I doomed? :help:

  12. Interview checklist time! Those of us on the 3rd are up first from VJers for K1s I think, so let me know if I've forgotten anything! :) I know I'm bringing more than I need, but I'd rather be over prepared.

-Interview Confirmation email (showing proof of payment)

-Entire copy of the I-129F packet including NOA2

    -Copy of all P3 documents

    -2 passport photos

    -Police check + copy

-Long form birth certificate + copy

-I-134 for fiance + supporting documentation

    -I-134 for co-sponsor + supporting documentation

    -Medical + XRay

-Proof of relationship (Photos, Phone bills, Wedding Planning Stuff)

-Signed letter of intent from fiance

-Photocopy of biographical page of passport for fiance and co-sponsor

    -Passport

    -Self :)

I sat here staring at this for about ten minutes convinced I've left something off... Hopefully not! :\

  13. Waiting so long to be with the one you love tests the relationship in a way some people will never know. It makes it stronger. And it also proves to you day after day that you would do ANYTHING for that person.

Good luck with your interview, you are so close now!

So close indeed, getting quite nervous now. I hope and pray that the Consulate front person wont frighten me and tell me I am not on the interview list or something like that, even though I have my print-put t confirming the date and time..I have read a few interview reviews where they have told a few beneficeries that their name is not on the list....this scares me, even though I have I have all the print-outs saying I am confirmed. Thanks for the good luck wishes..so close indeed.....

  14. 1. Arrive closer to your interview time as opposed to arriving when the Embassy opens. (Unless, of course, that is when your interview time is.) That way you won't have to wait en masse at the elevator room..... you can be processed through on your own.

    2. Have your interview appointment letter and passport in hand at the 1st Security checkpoint (entry door). Ignore the notice on the interior door telling you to have your $100 cash out. You won't need this until you are upstairs.

    3. Once you exit onto the 19th Floor from the elevator, follow the arrows on the floor leading to the left. Go to Window 14 and present your letter. Receive your ticket stub and sit down in the waiting area. Your number will come up on a monitor hanging from the ceiling and tell you which window to proceed to.

    4. There are four categories of visitors being processed. These are identified by the letter on your ticket stub. K Visas were identified by the letter "C" during my visit. Each time a new number is called, you will hear a beep. This will draw your attention to the screen, where a number will be flashing.

    5. There are washrooms and vending machines in the waiting area.

    6. The room containing Windows 9-12 are where K Visa applicants are processed. This is the same room you will return to when picking up your passport containing the approved visa.

    7. You will be called up twice:

    - The first time you will be asked for the originals and photocopies of the documents identified in your interview letter and checklist. You will then be sent to Window 14 to pay the fee..... U.S. cash only. Pay the fee and return the receipt to the Window you just left, then go back to the waiting area and have a seat.

    - When your number comes up on the screen again, it will tell you a room number to go to. This is a closed-door interview room close to the room containing Windows 9-12. You may walk right in.

    7. When your interview is over, and you have been approved, you will be given a slip with the date and time to return for your visa. Bring this with you, along with your photo ID, to re-enter the Embassy. Anyone accompanying you to the Embassy will not be allowed in with you.

    8. Return to the room containing Windows 9-12. Window 12 is where you will pick up your visa. Have a seat and wait your turn.

    9. Do not loiter directly outside the door of the Embassy. You will be asked to move for security reasons.

All the staff at the Montreal Consulate are very professional and customer-service oriented. All in all, a very pleasant experience.

  15. still nothing damn stores lol Im going to start a rait or write the president over it lol...

however I did break down yesterday and bought the damn chocolate covered macaroons.....so good but tricky ...I just eat the chocolate off them first lol

    You go GIRL...

I bring back Shreddies every time too! But now my husband has taken a liking to them..... even to the extent of buying every type of cereal in the US which even resembles Shreddies (I almost wrote Smarties.. lol) when we don't have any in stock. So now I have to double my supply or he'll eat them all on me. :bonk:

OMG no S hreddies in the USA?????

  16. My fiance and I are about a month short of your timeline...so we can relate a bit to your waiting game...I hope this time goes by fast for you and you will be with your fiance real soon!! Good Luck at the interview...Are you as nervous and scared as much as me??? I know JeannieL says it's a peice of cake and to relax but I can't help but be nervous. I am going alone are you??

Hi S&C1, Yes I am going alone to the interview, but my sister will be coming with me to Montreal...9 days away..yes I am getting nervous, but more nervous about the move and the POE and the AOS, and the...and the...and the.........

P.S. did you know it was JeannieL's wedding yesterday..started a thread on that wishing her all the best...she has been so invaluable on here...

  17. It depends on the country. I imagine Canada is straight forward, but some of the high fraud countries can put up significant hurdles, and the cultural/language differences make it worse. You will be an expert on the process by the time it is over.

gosh maybe I can apply for a job with USCIS with all this new found knowledge, other than knowing what LPR stoof for...
