OMG congratulationsssss!! Did she ask you about your overstay or intent to stay or whatever? Because I'm kind of in the same boat and i have a 3 year overstay....

The overstay did not even come out. She was mostly interested in evidence of our life together and our relationship (such as lease and joint insurance/bank accounts). However, keep in mind that my overstay was only a few weeks, and when they sent me the wrong forms back (at which point I was already out of status), they included a yellow page saying "PUT THIS PAGE ON TOP OF YOUR APPLICATION TO RECEIVE SPECIAL ATTENTION" to include in my next application. So they might not have considered mine a voluntary overstay. I honestly don't know.

Just to let everybody know that we got our approval today. We are so relieved... especially after having submitted our application after my VWP expired.

The officer was nice, but she did not decide immediately. She said she needed some extra time and she prepared us to wait up to a week; but in the afternoon we checked the status of our application online and it changed in "card production ordered". My husband woke me up screaming!

Hi, I have a question! I put my mailing address as my boyfriend's address in the US (cuz I'm currently in Brazil and I thought it would be easier to receive mail there). He just sent me an email saying that a letter arrived for me from USCIS. All he said in the email is that he opened the letter and it says it's an approval notice waiver of the two year requirement and also that it says it's not a visa. Then he sent me another email saying I-612, application to waive foreign residence requirements, approval notice. Is that the actual waiver??? Or should I expect to receive something else? He's traveling right now and I'm anxious to find out if that's really the waiver or just an approval notice!! Thanks!

Yeah, and in more ways than most people realize has this impact been negative and in many cases fatal. If you live in an area than has not seen the impact of PC 'do nothing' illegal immigration policy.Just ask the families that had the misfortune to lose a loved one to a drunk driver with no license or that should not even be here in the first place.

These are just prejudices. Should we send kids 'home' just because some Mexicans get drunk? This, does not make any sense, sorry. In psychology it is called availability bias.

I agree with many things you wrote about labor. However, I do not support the statement that

being here illegally is bad behavior no matter how you cut it.

I think that this is a grey area. I don't think that children should pay for their parents mistakes, even if those mistakes affect me directly. Do you think murderers' children should go to prison because their parent killed another human being? I think they should not. But that's where differences in morality come into play. We simply disagree on this simple moral point, and that's fine to me.

I am not sure how your fruit arrives safe (ly) to your home, but I am the one that gets my fruit from the market to my house. I personally am not to concerned about the safe arrive of fruit to my house, I do not anticipate the fruit being involved in an accident or a mishap. The role "all those people making sure that apples and oranges arrive safe in our homes" play is to get the fruit out of the field so it can be transported to the packing house.

Exactly what rights are those? Wage and labor laws, OSHA regulations, etc...apply to all, even those in the fields picking fruit.

This is simply not true. How can you enforce labor laws on people without a contract? If you want to talk about the reasons behind illegal working force, that's another issue.

Make sure you save all the documents related to your flight cancellations, tickets, emails from the companies and make an effort to re-schedule your flight ASAP. My brother in law just received a message from the company saying that he could reschedule his flight from NY if he wishes to, so I assume they are sending those to everybody leaving the area on Saturday/Sunday.

if your flight is not canceled or delayed though, you should leave. There is no reason to worry about the flying in bad weather as no company would take a chance and fly in risky weather conditions.

Nope, not too useful here, everybody here is entering thru the front door. That is the Obama payoff to a special interest group that slipped in thru the back door.

What is this supposed to mean? Deportation affects many people from different backgrounds, including young adults who were brought to the U.S. by their parents before even being able to talk.

Now it's called Obama amnesty.

So this article is about "new deportation guidelines the Obama administration detailed a week ago" and appeared this morning on the CNN website. It contains information about how the policies are being implemented, as well as first hand experiences on the issues.

Thanks for your opinion, but I still think somebody could benefit from it.

I am anxious about it, because my first application was rejected due to a mistake in the i-485 and it took them almost a month to send me the rejection letter.

Anyway, today I called them and they said they do not have my case yet in the system (neither acceptance, nor rejection) so they might be experiencing some delay. Just wanted to share this with you guys. Waiting is the worse, I hope to receive something soon.

Congrats Postnatvk1979! You can start adjusting with the DOS recommendation, but I would wait if you are not in a hurry, so you can send a complete application.

No! My mailing adress (that I put on the form) is my boyfriend's address, in Pennsylvanya! He's been checking the mail everyday and nothing arrived so far!! Don't worry so much, these things can take a while. Our timelines may not apply to your case because every case is the same. Once the DoS takes its decision, it is DONE, almost. USCIS will follow their decision 99% of the cases. There is no reason to be afraid. For some people it takes months and I know that waiting is frustrating, but CHILL. Do yoga, meditate, dance, sleep or drink. Do whatever works for you to relax. Worrying is not going to solve anything. You face the problems rationally as soon as they arise. And they will, because this is just the beginning of your immigration "journey" and K1+ green card (trust me) is going to be much more stressful than this.

A couple of things you can do:

1)Try to call DoS and make sure they know that he is your boyfriend and he can receive your notifications.

2)Next thing, ask your boyfriend to go to the post office (I think you could even do it through the website) and associate your name to his address. My first notification that I received the waiver did not go through because my name was not on the mailbox. They had to send me a duplicate and in the meanwhile they changed my status in "initial review" (which was a little scary after 4 months waiting... ahah). Just to tell you that the do illogical things sometimes and you can't assume that you know exactly what's going on, because you don't. So don't assume that something is wrong, and if it is you'll fix it.

Hope it helps. It mostly helps me to be reminded that worrying is never an effective solution.

It takes a while. If you d not have a case number yet, they cannot check either. So you just have to be patient... Sorry, I know waiting sucks! ;-)

What took 10 days for u? Recommendationd letter or USCIS case number? and what do u mean they waited 20 days to send u the letter? u mean after they said on the website that they sent it it took them 20 days toactually send it?

You should just wait because there is a gap between the uscis decision and the uscis website update. However, if you really have want to try to talk to somebody, call USCIS and see whether they have more information, in case they just did not update the website. You are done with DOS for good so they wont have anything to tell you. See my timeline in the first post for more info.
