  1. My husband is actually moving here to the states! I live in Rochester, NY. We are sooooo excited for everything to happen....and I agree, they don't give you a lot of time to prepare! Have you thought about where you are staying yet? We are going to drive up since it is 5 hours from my house and we will be up there for Valentines evening.

    Congratulations!!! we are almost there!

That is awesome!!! I will be moving to Chicago!!!

Do you know if every single document we sent the NVC (tax forms) need to be brought in to the interview? like do they REALLY expect my father in law to provide his tax forms??? kinda crazy !

  2. Hi Montreal Girl,

We're still waiting for case complete and I'm getting nervous because we mailed the AOS and IV packets the week before Christmas and followed it with the DS-260 online form a couple days later. My husband called NVC last week and the agent confirmed receipt of paperwork and DS-260 and told him the paperwork was still being processed. It's been a month since they received the paperwork--why is it taking so long? We're praying for a March interview--February would be too much to ask for in our case. Sigh.

    Hey!

I think you will be getting your case complete real soon. DOnt forget - they closed the NVC twice and havent gotten around to finishing everything up - so it could just be that they are tryng to catch up. From the time we sent in our AOS and IV -it took about 20-25 days...and then we got an RFE...bummer....but from the time we fixed out RFE mistake, it took a week. And now, we got our interview scheduled for February. February has not yet been completed. So assume you get your case complete this week or next...it will probably take a week from there (if you got no RFE) to get your interview sceduled.....of course im saying all this based on my experience. I will pray along with you for a speedy schedule. Thats what i am convinced helped us - God's favor and hand worked it all out! and he will for you too!

  3. I have one Feb 24th in MTL.

yay!!! congrats! must feel so good

I'm waiting with you--case complete on January 10, 2011--still hoping for an interview.

I talked to an operator at NVC on Friday evening. She said that since they had missed a day for snow last week, they hadn't finished scheduling February interviews yet, and they would keep working on them this week until they were done. I don't know if she was just trying to appease me, but it did make me feel better! :)

    Good luck!!!

ohh kikapoo!!! that makes me feel better too. They were closed last week for a snow day and was closed yesterday for MLK holiday...so I am praying they are on top of it today! We were completed the same day! Maybe we will have our interviews the same day! I will be praying for both of us today - that we hear about an interview today!

  4. I called the NVC yesterday and told them that a couple people had case completes in January and got interviews in March and asked them if I had an interview scheduled yet. All the girl could tell me was that I was not getting an interview this month and that when an interview is scheduled they will send me a letter. BAsically they didnt know WHY exactly some people were getting March interviews. So im really confused. I got my case complete January 10.

She then went on to tell me to call as of the 17th of January to find out if I got scheduled for February! CONFUSEDDD!!!!!!!

  5. hey matt and shannon - how did you get a march interview (I assume in montreal) if they are only still scheduling february? Were you able to schedule an interview yourself? I hear montreal is back up to speed with schedulings...not really backlogged anymore.

Its looks like we both got our case completes around the same time this month....

oh and whewn you writr "sign in failed" what does that mean??

  6. thats because it is fairly a recent change. Electronic processing is now REQUIRED for all montrealers. You CANNOT mail any physical papers in - they will not accept it.

The only thing is that since you are required anyways to file documents electronically - you do not need to "opt in" and wait 10 days before they accept your request. You can do it immediately.

Also....it is no longer the DS-230 form...it is the DS-260 FORM which is found and submitted online!

  7. Hey can anyone give me advice....

We forgot to fill out ONE LINE on our affadavit of support form - line 10 which is the income of my father in law who is co-sponsoring me to live in the US.

I called the NVC and asked them if i could just give them that amount on the phone instead of having to redo everything for ONE LINE MISSING!

They said no, we need to resend everything - which means there is always that 10 to 20 business days before they process it all....

is there a way to bypass this or a way to speed this up. I think its crazy to have to wait 20 days for the NVC to process everything for one missing informtation.....

any suggestions? everything else with our documents was fine they said....

  8. Hey Everyone!

Just wanted to let you all know those who have "heard" that it is forbidden to visit the United States while you have a visa processing....

its not necessarily true. I took a chance and booked a flight to the united states and made it through!

I had read on VJ that it is good to bring all kinds of documents that prove you are tied to your country - which i did....i had a huge binder full of proof.

When I got to the immigration officer, he asked me one question and let me through! So - take a chance and try it....of course its always a 50/50 ....but mostly i think, they will let you through.

    :)

  9. Hey Yall,

Just wanted to share a bit of info for those who do NOT yet know and are new at starting the whole immigration process.

If you are in Montreal - you are REQUIRED to submit all documents by electronic processing. That means you technically dont HAVE to send an email to NVC to "opt in" for electronic filing. Our lawyer and I wasted over 3 weeks waiting to hear back from the NVC on this matter when all along, we could have just started the process of submitting in the supporting documents to the visa immigration form.

Secondly, the visa immigration form (once your file has been moved to the NVC) for Montreal is now to be submitted ONLINE. And it is NOT the DS-230 form, but the DS-260 form for Montreal. Its is on the website and to be submitted online. You can send all your supporting documents and affadavit of support papers by email in PDF form to nvcelectronic email.

I encourage everyone to call CALL CALL the NVC customer support to get all your questions answered. It might save you from missing a step and getting refused or your case prolonged.....

    just some advice :)

  10. dude, right now...everything has been filed and paid. Were just waiting for the NVC to close our case and wait for our interview. I dont HAVE the CR-1 visa but its been filed. I just wanted to know if when they scan my passport and see that there is a visa being proccessed if it would cause a problem for visiting the States for 2 weeks. I wouldnt change my status and throw away all the money I spent thus far while im at litterally my last stages.

  11. Ok i am totally ignorant...its my husband and lawyer who have been doing everything on the legal side...but what is NOA1??? hahah...my lawyer sent me by email the approved I-130 thingy saying that my case was now being transferred over to the NVC. is that what we are talking about?

I really hope i dont get refused at the airport...its the only time i get time off work for the holidays to visit...i havent seen my husband for 2 months :( and i am depressed.

But at the end of the day it is a ####### shoot--did the CBP person have a bad fight with their spouse, do they have an axe to grind with Canadians, are they fighting the flu--you get the idea.

  12. I booked a ticket by plane to Chicago to go see my husband on the 26th of December till the 12th of january.

I read that usually some people dont have a problem being let through. Does anyone have a story about their experience or what questions they were asked at by the border patrol officer?

I have a letter from my employer stating that I am currently still a full time employee at my job, last years taxes, my cell phone statments, my car insurance statements and bank statements. I still live with my parents so dont have much to my name...will this be enough proof of my ties to Canada in the case they ask? I also heard its good to bring your approved I-130 form?

HELP!!! I LEAVE IN 8 DAYS!
