  1. Me and my wife got married last september after entering the country on a K1 visa.We filled for an adjustment of status late in october and has recieved her EAD in december.Since then , we have not recieved any communications till today. In other words, she has not even been scheduled for interview nor has recieved her green card yet.We did the service request thing and the system does not even allow us to do so.

Does anyone has an idea of what is really going on now or has anyone experienced such problem ?:angry::rolleyes:

I filled mine Jan, got my EAD march and since then, I haven't heard anything yet. I called the USCIS Customer care line 3days ago and they sent a service request to Chicago where my AOS is being processed. I was then told that I should receive something in the mail within the next 2weeks. Maybe you should also try that.

  2. Hi there, I am curious about the history of AOS approvals. We gratefully sailed through the K1 process relatively quickly, thanks I think, to some meticulous preparation and submission of all our paperwork....there was a lot as we were applying for myself and 3 children.

We have been here since December 30, 2012 and have really settled in to our new life here in the US over the last 3 months or so. My now husband has adjusted amazingly to his role as a new Father for my children, we have invested money into settling in and creating a home with the purchase of a car for myself and the kids, furniture, new bikes for the kids and they are all settled into their new school since the end of Christmas break....I guess what I am saying/asking here is, I can't imagine having to tear ourselves away from this new life here if our AOS was denied. I am hoping that I was as thorough with our AOS paperwork as we were with the K1 paperwork and that we will be approved.....we would be devastated beyond words or comprehension if, after all this and the coming months of waiting for word from USCIS, we received a denial.

Does anyone have any stats on the approvals/denials of AOS?

    Thank you!!

When did he file your AOS? Did he also file for EAD? ..I file for both late Jan, got my EAD card couple of weeks ago and haven't heard anything about my AOS interview. The good thing is I can work now.

  3. Thank God I got my approval and Visa in hand in 4dayz... I say a big thank you to everyone who helped me through this first part of the Journey.. May God bless you all and to those who are on AP.. I pray you hear a good news pretty soon!!! Sry I meant to say... after almost 3months of waiting!

  4. Thanks for everyone helping on this forum! This is my first post and would love some answers! I am going to be starting the I-129F form within a few days. I am an American citizen and she is Italian, no job, no money, and lives at home with her parents. I just mentioned that because it does affect the VWP which I also have questions about.

First off, my girlfriend does not have a passport yet, she won't be getting one for over a month and I want to file the I-129F form ASAP. For the I-129F does she need to have a passport? I ask because there is a section where it asks for her passport number and expiration dates.

Also I have read somewhere that she needs police records from everywhere she has lived from age 16? Is that true?

She also wants to visit using her VWP during the processing time, possibly for 3 months. Is that going to be ok or will they be suspicious if its 3 months? What part of the processing time has the most downtime and is best for her to visit, for example like after the interview?

Last question, her consulate is very far from her hometown, will she only need to make one visit for the interview?

Thank you so much for everyone's help! We will keep you updated with everything!

Concerning the passport... that's not a problem.. I got my passport 3months before the interview.. It was approved without a passport.

  5. That is what Julius has but I read Lagos won't accept the age declaration from the court as a substitute for the birth certificate. maybe someone who has this experience at the interview can clarify.

Declaration of age and Attestation of age are two different documents... You get a declaration of age from any high court in Nigeria but a Declaration of age is issiued but the National Population commission in Nigeria.. And for you to get an Attestation of Age , you will need a declaration of age which you already have..So what your fiance needs to do now is just go to the nearest National Population Commission in Lagos to apply for the Attestation of age.. He should go there with his travel passport and also 2 passport pictures .. it cos only #2500 and it will be ready in 2weeks

  6. My husband is upset because a friend told him that it is going to cost him $800 or more to make corrections to his passport he was going to go to Abuja this week but now he is not sure if he should just go we didnt think it would be more than around $300 top,. they told him due to high fraud they are charging more to make corrections to discourge scammers that have been turned down for a visa from trying to apply again with a new passport and that it is $800 or higher. has anybody heard this or no where on line we can find the info on how much it will cost. Thanks for your help.

..Very simple.. He should go get a new one which cost less than $130 and have them cancel the one that had the mistake..

  7. We should not be quick to make replies on some of the things we dont know and dont believe everything you see on the internet. This lady said 'for corrections' and most people are talking about renewal. This is no joke,i know someone who spent over N250,000k on a mistake she made on her date of birth. The E-passport thing is new and they tell you to be sure you not making any mistake before it is finally made cos if at all you will be able to get a new one,it will only be at Abuja and that is if you are able to get it at all.The conditions of getting a new one is hard as much as i know,i can find out though but the man is not lieing and stop judging what you dont know.

I guess you forgot. It's 2.5m... not 250k. Who will believe this bullcrap ?

  8. Who is scamming who? Whatever amount let your husband bear the cost since he's working. I don't believe the first money you sent him was lost to someone else but he himself... Wise up young lady or you're being used... That being said, $800 dollars for anything passport must be "fraudlent concept" to drain you. For example, your husband is not a foreigner and he understand the nigerian system, therefore, he should always protect you from such misgiving assuming the great love he has for you. I hope and pray I am wrong in my opinion... Wishing you all the best

I agree with you.... She needs to check her husband out... Cos even for him to tell her that it cost $800... to me that sounds more like he's trying to get money off her... He's a Nigerian and am sure he knows better

  9.

You have a denial against you for at least age difference ( but they probably wrote down something else ) If you are 20 years younger than him , how old are both of you ? Do either of you have prior marriages / children ? How did you meet and how much time have you been with him face to face ? The issues with jumping to the CR1 is that it is harder to fight if you get a second denial. You want to look at all your issues and see if you can address them with a K1 or a Cr1 better.

  10. The hubby went to the police station to inquire about getting a police cert. (He lives/works in Accra with a permit.)

At the station they told him it would be $250! :o I about lost my cool. I mean the dash in Ghana is a way of life but REALLY!

So I followed a link posted by ZeeBee My link and sure enough it

said non-residents pay $200! . This is for non-residence Ghanian/or lived in Ghana before but presently living outside Ghana/Abroad.

I guess my questions is what fee did you non-residents in Ghana pay for your certificate?

My bank account is leaking like a sieve.

  11. I don't believe anyone would tell him that Police report cost $250 and if someone tells him that then he might have talked to the wrong person. Since your husband lives and work in Ghana, then am sure he already has Ghana residence permit, if he has that then for him to get the police report would only cost him 25cedis.. I did mine couple of weeks ago, I am also A Nigerian and I live and work here in Accra.

  12. You don't need the Xray for your interview, you will only need to take it with you when travelling.. What you need for your interview is the medical result in the white envelope.. I also did mine Medicals couple of weeks ago and that was the instruction given to me by the Doctor @ Holy Trinity..
