Yes, you can adopt the child once he/she is here in the US. However, if you want the child's birth records in the Philippines to be corrected to show you as his/her father and have his/her family name changed to yours, the US adoption will have to be 'certified' by a Philippine court. So, you can take the adoption one step at a time. Do the US adoption first and, when you are ready to schedule a trip to the Philippines, do the amendment of the birth records.

Don't have any advice whether it would be best for you and your husband to live in the Philippines or come over to the US. It all depends on what your plans are for the family that the two of you are building together.

If you do opt to come to the US, I suggest that you pursue the IR1/CR1. When you enter the US with that visa you will get a 10 year green card and will be free to work and to travel overseas. No USCIS worries for 10 years!!

If you go the K3 route you will have to file AOS (and pay $1010) to get a green card.

Yes, it tells you if you have normal weight or if you're underweight, overweight or obese. It even shows your Mii (your Wii character) as fat/chubby/slim. It's actually very cute.

It says my husband is obese. Hubby grumbles but he sees it as a challenge to get his weight down. He is looking forward to the day when Wii will stop calling him obese

The USCIS 800 number is just a call center. Those people are not Immigration Officers. They have a "huge book" that they look up answers to questions that people ask when they call in. If you really want firm answers, you will have to make an INFOPASS and talk to a reall immigration officer in the USCIS district office.

Or, as suggested, you can call your senator and ask his staff to check your case status for you.

Hubby got it for me as a "mother's day" gift. But guess who's using it more?

I do enjoy it a lot. I especially like the boxing and stepping exercises. I also throw in some yoga and strength exercises just to round things up. But the feature I like best is the BMI and weight graph. It keeps a clear picture of where you are. The past few nights I've been too busy to do exercises on the Wii but I've made sure to do the body test just to make sure I'm not gaining back whatever weight I've lost.

The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends.

Aha! Now I know why it's so hard for me to lose weight. I should tell my fat that my body has been spreading ugly rumors about it.

We are having an interview for AOS (started as K-1 fiance visa) in a couple weeks and the interview NOA stated we need an I-693 "unless already submitted." Wasn't this already done before coming to the States (i.e. the embassy interview process)? Do we really need to see another doctor for a medical and blood tests? I don't recall being given anything more than a signed vaccination worksheet before coming to the USA.

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

A few years back there were several VJers who had to deal with this type of RFE even though the AOS was submitted within 1 year (or less) from the K1 medical. If I remember correctly, the general advise was to go ahead and just do the medical. You can show up at the interview without the new medical and hope that they will have the K1 medical on file or that they will not insist on a new medical. The worse that could happen is that they will require it and they will hold off issuing the green card until you have submitted a new medical.

Suggest you do a search on here for AOS medical and read about the actual experiences of other VJers.

I used to have lots of shoes back in the Philippines. Since we got here, I just buy what is apt for the season. My husband on the other hand, he loves shoes. He probably has more shoes than I do.

I'm not much into purses either. I have lots because I tend to keep the old ones that I've "outgrown". Should seriously go through them and give them to Goodwill. Two of my sisters, on the other hand, are purse crazy. They rattle off names that I don't even know You won't see me buying expensive purses though as I'd rather "have money to put inside a purse" rather than "have a purse without any money to put inside it".

I wear mine all the time. The only time I take it off is when we work on our vehicles, do home improvement or go swimming. Hubby wears his when he goes to work or he/we goes/go out.

If he forgets to wear his when we go out, I tease him and ask if he was married and pretend to ask him out on a date.
