Wow, nice trick!
Never knew you could do that. Granted, I was using Google Voice on my computer to call (free calls!) so that wouldn't have helped as I wasn't using my phone!
Just wanted to make sure you knew it was a separate process and not needed with the I-130 package. Some people get confused...
It may work with Google Voice too. You'd just save it as a contact the same as with a 'real' phone.

foobaz, can you use GZO case number for the NVC AVR? I tried it which only seems to take GUZ case #.
It takes me about 1 week (5 working days) to get the IV bill invoice. I sent out EP with DS-3032 on 2/22 and got the IV invoice yesterday. NVCInquiry sends me duplicate emails for that (don't know why). And I received a "False" Checklist Cover Letter from NVCInquiry. I assume it is "False" since it only asks me to make the IV bill payment which I only got about a few hours before.
Probably not. I actually use the USCIS number as I programed the phone to autodial the entire sequence from "Hello" to the case number.
Putting it in by hand takes too long
If you wanted to do it yourself, the sequence is:
6033340700;1,1,1,4,1,CASENUM#
Where the first bit is the phone number, the ones in the middle get to the point of entering the case number, the "4" is for WAC (you'll have to adjust it if you came through VSC instead of CSC) and CASENUM is your USCIS case number followed by pound.
On most phones the semi-colon after the number will make it wait for confirmation before sending the rest.

They really ought to just stick with the initial case number assigned for China EP cases. All other EP-eligible countries do. It's just China. Who knows why they thought it was a good idea to assign a second case number in the first place.
Because GUZ is dumb?

My packages finally arrived at my parents house!! They'll be sent to NVC tomorrow or Saturday
Yay!

Well, unlike other counties, for China EP cases, they get assigned a new, SECOND case number. There might lie the problem.
Wait until they respond to that email to see what they say. Have you contacted a supervisor yet?
That seems likely. There is probably a break down in the rehome process moving things, which at that point don't exist, from one case number to the other. When they don't exist, they probably move on and ignore the case until they do (if a manual move process) or the system sits and waits until it exists and someone comes along and kicks in the rear (if automated).
Either way, it's a bug they ought to fix.

My I-864 package was sent express via USPS yesterday and suppose to be delivered today. The tracking system status on USPS site says "Notice Left (Business Closed)"
Called NVC today and the recording says that the NVC is closed today!
can anyone confirm that!
Thanks
Yes, they are closed. Hopefully they'll open up again tomorrow.
Also, update your timeline and such.
-
Damn I hope they do open tomorrow... the AVR is reporting that my DS-3032 has been entered so if they hadn't closed today, might have gotten the IV fee bill today.
Specifically, the AVR is giving the message indicating that they've processed the AOS fee and DS-3032 (vice just the DS-3032)

I'm just confused as to why it would hurt GUZ cases and not other consulates, since they should be receiving all the same treatment by NVC until interview assignment, right? Weird.
Failure of the PFM engine?

Nostradamus
.
Although you might be correct, I really talked to someone at 8 am ET and she told me that she can answer only general questions but she can't access her terminal. I think it was Foobaz123 fault, cuz he sent like a giant PDF file yesterday and that might weigh and jammed all circuits.... too many bytes traffic.
It was not! It was not!
-
Gotta be careful with that, though, because opting in prior to billing didn't affect our case negatively at all.
True, it could be limited to just GUZ cases. Though, the worse thing is that a person might lose a day or three that they might not otherwise lose.

Here we go again... Here we go again.. Same old song again...
Saylin... I updated my signature.. you haven't updated your spreadsheet

Speaking of the FAQ.... might I suggest a GIANT note about not opting in to EP prior to AOS billing?
-
I'm thinking just 2 pages
And thanks! I'm kinda proud of it *hugs FAQ*
Yay FAQ!
I'd bet people repeat FAQs on the first very page....
-
Figures... I finally get to send in my AOS package and they close the next day.
I'll be surprised if they open up again before Monday.....
-
AOS Master package sent off....

I took the scans of every single document (as well as the cover sheet) and created one PDF out of it all. I then emailed that one PDF to NVC, like they want.
And there has to be a way to remove just one page in a PDF instead of having to re-scan it all.
I figured out how to do it. I'm building the master PDF now

If you're sending in transcripts of 2008-2010, those are the last 3 years, so no need to send in 2007 as well.
And I included the bar-coded cover sheet for my EP packages. No way did I want to skip that and get a checklist for that!
Yeah, I think I will as well. Did you scan send it as it's own PDF or did you put all these documents into a master PDF with it as the cover sheet?
The only way to pull the 2007 transcript would be to rescan the transcripts. I may do that.
-
I'm performing final assembly and check off on my AOS package. This is what is currently going in:
- I-864EZ (verified as no spots blank and signed and dated)
- Tax Transcripts for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 (they are all scanned together as one PDF)
- Employment letter
- Possibly paystubs
Do I really need the bar coded cover sheet for an electronic case? I have it standing by in any case.
Can anyone see anything I may have forgotten?

Maybe the child (born abroad) of a USC? If she was born in the US, she should have been assigned a social security number at birth (at least I was...).
Even in this case, would not the child had to have been issued an SSN at some point for tax purposes unless the parents relinquished their citizenship?
-
All these tax questions brings up an interesting thought... as of this moment I haven't filed my 2011 taxes. I'm about to but it hasn't happened yet. I have tax transcripts for 2007 - 2010. I wonder if I should send in 2011 in 1040+W2+W7 form or just provide the tax transcripts? Either way, I'll be providing 2011 - 2008 at interview time.
-
I believe I've found the form in question. Is it the one that just asks for the case number, visa category, names and what not? It doesn't even look like a form. Is the wife just supposed to print this thing and write the bits of information to the right of the lines?
Also, I nuked more link spam from the EP wiki page. I really hate those people.

Okay... so... in short.. the Supervisor said she'll try and track down the original OPTIN email with DS-3032 attached. Of course, as she pointed out it probably wouldn't change anything at this point since the original and the one I sent in today would be racing each other into processing.
I do really wish I could get someone to say whether or not our evidence sent to USCIS has made it into the SAFEFILE or not. Like I told the Supervisor, if my spouse was coming from the UK or France it wouldn't be that big a deal. However, the loss of that evidence for someone coming from China would be catastrophic and would practically guarantee a denial at interview. Since as we all know, absence of evidence of bonafides is evidence of non-bonafides.
-
Update... is it bad that the supervisor seems rather confused already?
-
Ya, there's yer snafu, as well. I tend to forget that, as you supposedly have succesfully OPTed IN now.
Hmmmm.
Chase down the DS-3032 now with NVC - they close in 42 minutes. Ask for a supervisor FIRST. Tell supervisor yer an EP case, and the DS-3032 in the OPT IN has NOT gotten into yer casefile.
I'm on the phone with them now and on the way to a supervisor. The first lady I talked to was nice but seemingly a bit clueless about EP and GUZ. For instance, she was insisting that NVC doesn't scan any documents. Which left it a bit hanging as to how things were going to get into the SAFEFILE and sent to GUZ electronically. I suppose that would happen by magic?
