Passed and oath at 2pm. They had a hard time locating her birth certificate due to her married name being different. I was sweating for 40 minutes.

What relief.. I am imaging now I could be in your situation. That interview messed us up the entire day. I couldn't wake up this morning for work..almost wake up late for work.

My wife could have that certificate in here hand yesterday too if wasn't that additinal questions the officer was asking.

Updated on my wife interview.

It was almost a happiest day ever but it was not. She has to come back for a re-interview. She passed all reading/writing part of the test but somehow when the officer asked her about something to the effect of how did you meet your spouse" or somthing similar she wasn't able to answer, Officer said wait right here, I'll be back.

By the way, my wife has limited communication with outside world beyond her next door neighbor.

when Mr Officer return after consulting with his upper, he told my wife to come back in 2 months for a re-interview of the Understanding English...unbelieveble.

Now I am scramble to prepare her for the ultimate interview.

I guess lesson learned USCIS can failed you for not understanding the a few questions they throw at you. and conclude that the applicant does not understand enough to naturalized.

Officer did not ask even on piece of evidences she brouht along except for the green card.

It is annoying if nothing else. And then to know that you've passed the English language/history part but still not be a citizen because you haven't been sworn in. That's like you're so close you can taste it but you're only allowed to smell.

So, question for those you've gone to the ceremony, the letter says to take other immigration papers (besides the green card, of course). Like what? We don't have children.

It was dated March 28th so luckily it got here within 2 days, giving us less than 48 hours. A friend of mine in ATL said that when she got her notification (4 years ago) it was also last minute so she had to change it. Luckily for us, despite the short notice, it's perfect. Neither of us has to work and I hate the waiting....

Agree with Bora. The waiting in all these immigration filings is the most painful part. for me It has been like 129,AOS, and now N-400.

My wife's interview is coming up in 12 April. We just received a N-659 checklist telling my wife to bring among other evidences:

1. IRS form 1722 listing the tax information for the last 3 years. Question is : is this equivalent to taxscripts..since my wife already has these? anyone brought form IRS 1722 to the interview?

2. Proof of marital union as well of proof of residence. Can anyone provide examples of what they brought previous interview in related to this evidence request?

How do you know that you will received a YL- Yellow Letter? You will only receive a YL if you are missing some evidence in initial submition like I did.

Good Morning all.

I went for my N-400 appointment this morning with my wife, my appointment was at 8:45AM

i thought i will be the first one in there but i was shocked when i saw alot of people waiting for their name to be called. i thought at first i have to drop my appointment letter on the window where they call the people for their Interviews. but i think they change this rule, now u keep ur appointment letter and ur name will be called thru ur Interviewer, well i was praying to get a nice Interviewer. because some of them look mean. (they cant harm you if GOD not wills it) So. here is the door opened and a nice looking young lady came out and called my name. i went to her with my wife. and i asked her if my wife can get in with me. she said No. and then she said to my wife dont worry he will be fine. so we start like this. she asked me how am i doing and then. we went to her office. and she wanted me to swear. but i said i would like to disclose something with you can i do it before i swear? she said No but after. so she had me sworn. (I was going to tell her i made a little Mistake on my N-400 Application) well start nice Conversation asking my Green card and my Driver license and my Appointement letter and then she asked me my name my date of birth and some Questions about Marital life. (Dont worry not to much questions and no need to go for detail) and then we went thru my N-400 Application and she Asked me about the Yes and No question maybe 3 and then she checked them all with red Pen with Yes. (Thanks that was good dont need to go thru it) and then she she took my Pictures out of Plastic bag and said i want you to sign ur 2 Pictures and then i have noticed something. i said to her Oh i put them in a nice envelope. (i dont know what they did with that envelpe) (At this stage i got very comfortable) because she start saying GOOD GOOD GOOD lol, and then she said ok lets move to the civic questions. she asked me 6 questions which i answered them all ..

i think they were.

1- The house of representatives has how many voting members?

2- We electa U.S. Representative for how many years?

3- In what month do we vote for president?

4- If both the president and the vice president can no longer serve, who becomes the president?

5- Who is the chief justice of the united states now?

6- Name one war fought by united states in the 1800s?

I passed them all and then she asked me to read (who was the first President) something like that but i am not sure. then i had to write. Washington was the first president.

I passed it right and then she took some stamps from her office and she stamped my papers. but before that she gave me a white page. with my information on it she wanted me to verify if its right. which it was. then took Form N-652 and she checked First one with Yes. (You Passed the Test of english and u.s. history and government)

and (A) (Congratulations! your application has been recommanded for approval)

i Thanked her and then i asked her if there is any available Oath ceremony this Days she said not this month but maybe next month. and Thanked her again and i left, my wife was waiting for me and she asked me did you pass? I waved my hand with my form N-652 to her she knew it that i passed. she was talking to Chinse gurl which she passed too but she got a mean Inteviewer . well it's all Done with Interview.

Now waiting for my last Chapter. Oath Ceremony..

I think that means that you do the Biometric next. You will receive a Biometric appointment in the mail next. That is just the way the Online status had on the USCIS website. Believe me I receive the samething. also check others posting on here, you will see exact response as me.

I was there at about 11:00's and out of there like 20 mins. When my wife got there, there were barely people in the line.

I filled ou the form for my wife and to the Biometric room.

so it was painless, no waiting no problem.. but we did noticed one indian gentlemen trying to do a walk-in for his father but were told to going on Wednesday only if it passed the reporting date.

I believed he was able to do the walk-in but the lady did made a big deal but he let the man do it anywway.

I heard the lady said " walk-ins are on Wednesdays only and only if the reporting date is passed."

my advice for those who wants to do the walk-ins. Go for it anyway. I don't think it will hurt.

Hi, my wife's friends were able to apply for Naturalization after only 2 years and 9 months upon recieving thier permanent resident card. They all are married to a US citizen. Is this still true for 2011 or has there been a rule changed ? I can't find any information regarding this on the USCIS website. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Go to this link. and search for citizenship. the rule is one can apply for earlier of 2.9 years married to usc or 5 years continous residence withou married to usc - the date one become permanent residence(located on green card).

Oh I am talking about the Application support Area in Elizabeth, NJ that serves my area.

I already called the UCCIS...they don't really know that information. I know that that is a federal holiday for most gov agency.

May be a stupid question but any knows if the office open on 31 December ?

Finalizing my AOS packet, and though I am a little far from this step but curious how does one get early biometric ? I am in NYC as well so most likely will get an appointment in Manhattan (may be)

Now the question is for those who already had earlly Fingerprinting at the Newark ASC. is it true that they do walkins only on Wednesday?
