  1. Great news!!!!

We finally received approval for Lili's green card. Took approximately 9-months from when we turned in our AOS paperwork in January.

Lili came to USA for the first time in December 2011

    Married End Dec 2011

AOS paperwork sent in 1 week later

    Biometrics Mid Feb 2012

Transferred to CSC Mid Feb 2012

Wait Wait Wait checking MSC number many times

Checked again Sept 7th; Approved; No 2nd interview or additional info required

System said we should receive green card within 7 days via mail.

  2. ok - that was fast - anomoly in SSA time - which SSA office was this? [city/street name]

She can go back on Monday, ask for the SSN [the number, not the card] and the SSA clerk can give it to her, face to face.

Social Security Office in Georgetown, TX.

  3. whoa.

    let's back up a step.

go back to the SSA office, apply again,

ask clerk to look her up in the SAVE database via A# and VISA name. *

IF SOME PROBLEM on the lookup - ie - A# is off a digit or two, or VISA NAME is mis-spelled -

withdraw the application, get to the local CBP secondary inspection / deferred inspection office

    and then

get a shift supervisor. Tell him/her there's an error in the SAVE database - one of his crew fat-fingered the data entry work. Show the passport and I-94 and visa page. Ask him/her to correct the typo. Don't leave till the typo is corrected.

Then wait 4 business days. Then go back to the SSA office, and apply again.

    ----

    * - it may be that the clerk already forwarded all on to USCIS, where a verification is performed. This process takes 30 to 45 days, and you want to EXTRACT the application, WITHDRAW the application, if indeed this is the case. You'll need to get the SSA Supervisor involved, as the application needs to be withdrawn due to clerical error.

We went to SS Office on January 9th. Im sure all the information has already been submitted to USCIS. Should we go back to the SS Office and ask to see Supervisor and withdraw our app? Wont this start the process all over again? The lady went over all the information she entered into the computer with us. It was correct. It just didnt match/confirm what the computer said......

    What to do????

  4. Thanks in advance for the assist. We are going through the AOS now. Lili arrived in the states in late December ( k1 fiancee visa) and we married on Dec 29th. Lili doesn't have a social security number yet. I need to file married on my taxes this year. How do I do this without Lili having a SS#? What is needed? W7 form attached with my 1040?

We went and tried to get her a SS# last week. We filled out the form waited in line for 2 hours and handed in all required information. For some reason the information the worker put in the computer didn't match what was on the computer. She said it needed additional work and someone needed to manually look at it. Grrrrrrrrrrr

  5. Hi all,

I finally have all the forms completed and needed information together. Should I include a summary cover page? I thought I read somewhere this is recommended. Does someone have a template on here? or did I hear this from Candle for Love site?

    Thanks,

    Matt and Lili

  6. We just left blank for middle name.

I864 specifically states on page 3 at the top: "DO NOT COUNT ANYONE TWICE"

She's already been counted previously. also see for C

"Persons NOT sponsored in this affidavit:"

Unless you have some other dependents in your house, you shouldn't be adding anyone else here.

    Sounds good thx!!

  7. I know I know but just want to be right in filling out the forms.

Lili does not have a middle name. Do we put NONE or N/A for her middle name in the forms?

Also, on the I864 I have couple questions.

    1) What do I put for current individual annual income? Is this AGI from my tax returns?

    2) Part 5 #21 Sponsors household size. It is just Lili and I (2 people).

    a - I have a 1

    b - I have a 1

    c - I have a 1

    d - 0

    e - 0

    f - 0

    g - 0

    total - 3 ?????? shouldnt this be 2????

    Thanks,

    Matt

  8. We did an Apostille for use in China if necessary.

    Thanks!!!

I clicked on the link and printed out the following forms:

    I-485 AOS

    I-864 Affidavit of Support

    G-325A Biographic Info

    I-765 Employment Authorization

    I-131 Application for Travel document

    G-1145 E-Notification

    1) Is this all we need for AOS? I looked at everything briefly and dont see a cost? What is the cost associated with AOS? I assume I need to send in another check.......

    2) I-864 and G-325A we already filled and sent in. Do we need to do this again for this step?

    3) I-765 Do we need to fill this out? My wife will not be working for a while (maybe 5 years from now)

    4) I-131 this is needed for travel out of the States (before we get green card), correct?

    Thanks,

    Matt and Lili

  9. Hi All,

Its been a crazy and hectic last 2 weeks. But all worth it!!! I flew to HKG to get my love, spent a week in the Rockies (UT) and got married :)Now the next steps and I have a few questions.....

1)Is there a link on here on what exactly is needed for AOS? Do we need the actual marriage license for this? I only have the marriage certificate thus far. Maybe another 2 weeks before we get the marriage license in the mail.

2)When can I get her a SS Card/SS number? What is needed?

3)I assume we cant do her name change yet. (or can we?) We need the marriage license first, correct?

4)We are planning to go back to China the end of March for a Chinese wedding.I dont think we will have her green card by this time. What is needed for Lili to leave the States for the China wedding and get back into the states after?

5)Finally, we currently live in Texas. However, we are moving to Utah in March. How will this effect AOS (any)?

    Thanks,

    Matt and Lili

  10. Yuppers,

    Still waiting :crying:

We received Blue at our August interview for prior CCP affiliation (strictly work related).......our 90 days will be Nov 25 (Next week). Everytime I call Washington or send email all they say is "still under additional processing" please be patient.........We are trying, lol.......I already booked my flight to Hong Kong for Christmas to spend some more time with my love (7th trip in the last 14 months) :)

If she gets her visa before Christmas, I will just change my flight and go get her :)

    Matthew and Lili

Visa is approved and in the mail via EMS :) Flight changed and I'm going to get the better half Tuesday............Woohoo!! Christmas with family and wedding on the 29th. It all came together.

  11. So, a call in letter, to come in with the passport? Or they have the passport still?

We received the final call in letter saying the visa is approved. The letter gave instructions on how to mail in her passport to GUZ. We mailed in her passport within 2 hours, lol.

  12. Great news!!!!!! We received final approval letter today. Is was actually approved on Nov 17th......A little less than 90 days since interview and blue slip.......my love will be with me for Christmas :) Thanks all for the help and support.

  13. Are you guys still waiting?

  14. From my experience, DOS's information aren't being updated as regularly as they should, I had better luck contacting the embassy couple times per week. You have to take account of the time difference, as well as any US/Chinese holidays. The consulate usually respond to you question within a day (my experience), sometimes you can work one to two questions per day. Do keep in mind that the response can be very generic, but once in a while they give you some good information.

PS. Try to write well mannered. Those that answers the question probably have to read hundreds everyday.

    Thanks Ning :)

  15. Whilst calling the DoS Hotline is useful for any status and dates,

GUZ IV is the only entity that can give you detailed information,

and you can ONLY reach them via the IV 'contact us' web portal.

I pray you are sending them an inquiry, once a week or so.

    Good Luck !

Thanks Darnell. Yes, when I call the hotline they give me hardly any information. All they say is still pending additional information. I'll hit up the "the IV 'contact us' web portal" more often I guess......In the meantime just trying to wait patiently, well sort of........

  16. It's been 60 days / 2 months since our interview in GUZ and we are still pending administrative processing (SAO I assume because of prior CCP membership). The lack of customer service and unknown is a terrible emotional roller coaster........It has already been over a year since since we started this ride. I am praying my fiancee receives her call in letter around the 90 day mark (Nov 25th) as recent others have and she can finally join me in the USA for a December wedding.........please please please include us in your prayers.

  17. It depends on 'what happens next'.

Many people receive a 'call in letter' via postal mail - basically it says to 'come in' during certain times of certain days of the week, drop off your passport.

    ---

When the passport is dropped off, she'll need to make arrangements at the EMS desk for 'where to send the visa packet'.

It's exceptionally rare that a visa packet is held for pickup at the IV Unit - she can ask about it when she's there - she may get lucky.

    Thanks!!

  18. Hello,

We had our interview in Aug and received Blue due to prior CCP affiliation (strictly work related). We knew this may happen. At the interview we turned in her resume and CCP letter of explanation. VO said nothing else is needed just additional processing. SAO I assume.

I hear the process of mailing in your passport to GUZ and getting it back with visa is very slow, like everything else.I'm looking to reduce wait time

Question - Assuming my fiancee gets the approval letter/call in letter in the mail in the next 60 days can she just fly back to GUZ and personally hand in her passport? Airplane/Hotel cost not really an issue Then she can just wait in GUZ and have the passport/visa sent to the post office in GUZ for pick up. Can we/she do this? Where does she turn in her passport and what is needed? What floor?

Will they let her inside and through security with the approval letter to turn in her passport?

    Thanks,

    M & L
