Note that many Immigrant Visas are suspended until the end of 2020 because the April 22 proclamation was extended: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2020/04/27/2020-09068/suspension-of-entry-of-immigrants-who-present-a-risk-to-the-united-states-labor-market-during-the
Extended by June proclamation's Section 1: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2020/06/25/2020-13888/suspension-of-entry-of-immigrants-and-nonimmigrants-who-present-a-risk-to-the-united-states-labor
Can you elaborate on this? so they're not interviewing applicants right now? PD will not move if that's the case.

Start here https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-1-submit-a-petition/step-2-begin-nvc-processing.html and follow through the subsequent pages, it is pretty much a step-by-step of the process including listing all the civil documents you need.
But yes short version is you don’t submit documents etc until the case reaches the “current for filing” date. Still a few years away, see table B of the visa bulletin.
Thanks! Will there be a problem if they submit the docs even if it's not close to their PD?
Can the petitioner submit their i864 now?

F2b petition - my Mother in law petitioning her two adult (unmarried) children. Priority date July 2015. Her petition got approved. They received the notice of Immigrant visa case creation and paid the AOS fee and IV fees ($120 and $325). Should they start collecting the documents and send them to NVC? or should they wait until their PDs get current? Also, what are the documents needed from the petitioner? can you help me out and link the civil docs needed from the beneficiaries? Thanks in advance.

So your parents received no interest or stock dividend or pension payments or capital gains on investments?
Thanks for your reply. No investments, stock dividends or any pension. They came here with only $200 in their pockets. We supported them since coming over here in US. They didn't work also because of their age and the fact that they don't speak English quite well.

No problem at all. Just write a letter and explain why they not filed income tax.
Thanks for your reply. They just put it on their application as "unemployed". Will they ask for more evidence? When do we write the letter? When they ask for it? TIA.

Hello, my parents-in-law already filed for N-400 for US citizenship. Since coming here to US, they haven't worked and never had an income. We supported them all throughout these years. There's a question in the N-400 that asks "Have you EVER not filed income taxes....." But since they haven't worked here and they are both seniors, will it cause a problem with their US citizenship application? What are the documents that they need to provide to support their claims?
Thanks in advance and Happy Saturday!

I applied my N400 October 2018. I already did my biometrics. No interview date yet.
Question, I have an expired passport from my native country. Should I get a new one? Or an expired passport will do?
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
I'm helping my in-laws prepare their N400 application. They are both have 5 years required for permanent residency. While answering the children part: one of her children is already a US citizen. There's a question in there on putting the A- number. IF she's already a US citizen, do they need to put her A number on the application?
Also, the applicant's parents are US citizens but they both are deceased. There's a part there that asks the dates when her parents became US citizens. It was a long time ago and they don't have any documents to refer to as to when they became US citizens. Can they skip this question? Is it okay to just put an "estimate" date?
Thanks in advance!

Although if you have an N-400 that is accepted and pending, they will give you an I-551 stamp for free I believe.
Thank you. I'll take note of this.

1) No such thing as overstaying on a green card. If the green card expires, you are still a legal permanent resident, just like if your passport expires, you are still a legal citizen.
2) If your green card is expiring in 6 months or more, you can apply for naturalization without renewing the green card. If it is already expired or about to expire in less than 6 months, then you need to renew it first. That's what USCIS says officially, but see point (3).
3) Regardless of what USCIS says in point (2) above, many applicants apply with expired or about-to-expire- green cards and are approved for naturalization. USCIS seems to have an informal policy of ignoring this requirement.
You will have trouble traveling if your green card expires and you are still not a citizen; you can file for a GC extension, but it will take several months and is expensive. Check the USCIS website for green card renewal.
1. thank you for this. i didn't know that. All along, I thought when your GC expires, you need to leave US. Appreciate the input.
2. I am in the 6 months' window and money is tight. I can't pay two fees for now.
3. I might just go ahead for the naturalization. I don't have plans of going out of the country just yet.
Thanks for all the help.

Hi everyone!
Thank you for taking time to read my queries. I have been a GC holder for almost 10 years, I have a family living here and my wife is already a US citizen. I have 4 kids, all US citizens. I'm about to apply for citizenship and my problem is my GC is expiring Oct of 2016. If I apply April 2016, what's the timeline for it to he approved? I worry about overstaying and I'm afraid my application won't be approved on time. Is there a form where I can file an extension of my GC? Or is it okay to overstay while I await for my papers?
Thanks in advance and have a great day!

Hello!
My mom had her medical exam two weeks ago and St. Luke's required her to have sputum test. I've heard that when you're positive even though you'll get a negative sputum result, St. Luke's will still require you to do a six-month treatment for TB. Is this true? Hope someone could shed light on this. Thanks in advance!

me too. finally got an interview for november. good luck to us all.
congrats!

Got an email yesterday... Its scheduled in November too. .. Good Luck!
yey! good luck too!

The thing I don't get, besides that all of our interviews were cancelled, is that I'm seeing people with case complete dates after mine getting interview dates for Manila. Yet when I talk to the NVC they assure me interviews are scheduled by case complete date. You'd think given the "mistake" they made in scheduling and canceling our interviews we'd be put to the front of the list to get an interview. Not the case.
we got an email from NVC and they sent us a new schedule for November. hope you got yours too. good luck!

nothing yet. still waiting.
same here. hope they can come here before Christmas.

the supervisor i spoke to yesterday said october was closed.
any news on your case?
-
Trust me when I say I tried calling them many times otherwise you will not see me posting a topic out of frustration. Think harder!
Mimolicious was just trying to help you. You dont need to be rude to her/him.
Sometimes, they have different mail boxes for RFEs. If they send you an RFE, contact NVC if they received the docs you've sent. We have two RFEs sent in consecutive weeks. We called NVC and they advised us to ignore those emails. They may have received it but haven't reached their deparment yet.
Always follow up with them. Chill!

Mine have not been, they are still at the NVC. Did they send yours to the Embassy? Not sure how to track them if they have been.
Mine still says at NVC. I read in the forum you can track the docs through DHL. Not sure how to begin with that.
Is October window for interview really closed?
DoS Hotline will know. Call them tomorrow, when they are open.
got it. thanks!

I spoke to a supervisor named Sue yesterday morning, by far the nicest of the 3 I've spoken to now. She basically said they're aware of the interview letters that were sent out for the 3rd, however they were cancelled, and told meOctober scheduling was now closed. Still no explanation offered and was told we just have to wait for an interview to be scheduled.
Do you know if our docs were already sent to US Embassy Manila? How to track them?
thanks!
-
yeah. we did an expedite request given the "mistake" that the NVC made. that was of course denied by the embassy. also did a congressional inquiry and included the appointment letter for the 3rd and all written correspondence i've had with the NVC relating to the "mistake." haven't heard back on that as of yet. called NVC yesterday and spoke to a supervisor (3rd time) and she said we're just waiting on an interview date. well, i already know that. i don't really know what else we can do.
i was thinking of doing the same thing as you did but I dont think it will be fruitful. I called NVC two weeks ago, she said that it's US Embassy Manila's fault why they didnt accept the Oct 3 interview date. Marge said it's a computer glitch. like i dunno what to believe now.

Hello All,
I'm trying to make a payment on an IV fee for F24 visa category. Unfortunately, it's grayed out and won't let me pay it. Any reason why?
Thank you in advance.
