OK. So we are scheduled for our K1 interview in Vancouver this Thursday, May 5th. We are both a little crazy checking and re-checking everything and realized we never got a letter in the mail confirming the appointment. The only thing we have is an email from the visa service online site with confirmation information.
Is that all we will get and is that sufficient?
I emailed the K Visa Section in Vancouver last Thursday and they have yet to reply.
Any recent (like in the last 30 days) experiences from VJers?
Thanks everyone! This site rocks!

Thanks, everyone for your posts! I'll plan on going and hope for the best

I have read here on VJ that the US Citizen is welcome to attend the K1 interview along with the beneficiary and I planned to do that. However, while looking at the Vancouver Consulate's interview scheduling website I found the following:
"Accompanying Persons
The following persons may accompany a visa applicant during his or her visit to the Consular Section:
Interpreters: An applicant may bring one interpreter if he does not speak English (or French if applying in Montreal or Quebec City) well enough to participate unassisted in the visa interview.
Special Needs Assistants: An applicant may bring one person to assist him if he is elderly, disabled, or a minor child.
The following persons may not be allowed into the U.S. Consular Section premises:
Attorneys: An applicant may not be accompanied by his or her attorney(s).
Drivers, friends, extra relatives, and others not specifically named above cannot be permitted to enter and will be asked to return to meet the applicant after the interview is complete. This includes minor children who are not seeking visas.
Due to the limited size of the Consular Section waiting rooms, the high volume of visa applicants, and the time required to screen consular clients, other accompanying persons cannot and will not be admitted to the Consular Section".
This was under the heading of "General Information" so perhaps this is for Montreal?
Have any of you attended an interview recently?

This works so well!!!!! especially if you are assigned to a low traffic Consulate like me: Vancouver. I called this morning and they told me my package shipped yesterday. Checked the DHL website this afternoon and there it was: one lonely little 6 lb. package enroute to Vancouver! Of course, I can't be sure it is "my" package, but the coincidence is sufficient for me. I've been checking every day since NVC said they had my package and this was the only one to Vancouver in that timeframe.
Thanks to smart people of VJ for the tip!
PS. Seems DHL picks up around 1:00PM CST every day, so look around that time.

Federal Departments Lay Out Plans in the Event of a Government Shutdown
"PASSPORTS As a national security agency, the State Department would continue operations, but some activities, like issuing passports for travelers and visas for foreigners coming to the United States, could stop or face significant delays. Emergency consular services would continue".
As if we don't have enough to worry about...

Democrats had control of both the House and Senate in addition to the White House for the entire year in 2010. The Federal Budget year begins in October. Hard to blame the minority party (in this case Republicans) when they had absolutely no say in the matter for most of the budget cycle.

I asked this same question and yes, the interview was scheduled 10 days after receiving packet 3. It helped that they had all the docs ready ahead of time and they faxed everything to Vancouver right away. Still, 10 days is awesome. In the same boat as you guys so all the best!

Good luck on your Journey and welcome to VJ!

Just got our NOA2 last monday and we're waiting to schedule our K1 visa interview in Vancouver. We were hoping to pick up her visa at the consulate a couple of days after the interview. Emailed the Consulate in Vancouver and was told that the visa would be shipped by DHL to her location and is the only option now "no exceptions". I was a bit surprised about that since the the DOS website says they can be picked up at the consulate in three business days and others have told me 1-2 days after interview they picked theirs up.
FYI: This info is straight from the K1 visa unit at the Vancouver consulate.

Hi Kristin!
Thanks for the info and for taking the time to complete the Consulate review! Very helpful!

Hi everyone! I'm looking for recent experiences scheduling K1 interviews in Vancouver. Looks like they are about 30 days from packet 3 to interview?
Was that your experience?
Did you pick the date or did the Consulate assign?
Anyone get an interview prior to 30 days if you had all the items on packet 3 checklist already completed?
Thanks in advance for your wise, insightful, and caring answers

Police reports take time so i suggest getting those asap! He needs one for every country he lived in for over 6 months after the age of 16. Hope that helps.

I am obsessed with this website and Igor's list in particular. For example, I've checked for updates several times already today and become very disappointed when there are none. I'm strangely angry with igor, even though he is probably a wonderful human being. I think this whole process is driving me crazy, LOL!
Noa2, where are you?

Noted a couple of fairly quick NOA2's (less than 100 days) for Japan couples recently. Guess they are moving those along quickly...

I here ya. I have this image of some policy maker in DC saying "stop everything and process apps from Egypt,Japan, and Libya so we can get those people here before everything falls apart". Who knows, maybe that might even be the "right" thing to do? Just wondering if I'm the only one who worries about this?
-
With all the chaos in Egypt, Libya, Yemen and the devestating earthquake & sunami in Japan, I selfishly wonder how all this might effect the processing times for our visa apps? Please feel free to weigh in with your thoughts. Anyone with past experience or insight?

Happened to my fiancee back in November
We decided that I would be the one to visit after that. I'm on trip #5 to Canada this week!
The whole issue is very "grey" it seems to me and you will get many opinions on this board.
If he didn't get anything stamped in his passport and didn't lie or mislead, then he could probably try again with copious amounts of proof of ties and copy of NOA1, etc.
But then again, the only thing I'm certain of is the process can be frustrating for those who comply with the law.

Congrats! You waited long enough! Hope the rest goes fast and smooth for you guys!

Just get one from each country and be done with it. That way you have one less thing to worry about. It's no big deal really. Just have the US citizen half contact the appropriate consular section for the country you need the Cert from. They will ask for some info such as dates they lived there, addresses, copy of passport. I did all that via email to Turkmenistan. It was really very easy and the Consulate was very professional (unlike USCIS).

My wife is K1 visa holder. Good luck at the Concentra in Maryland Heights listed above. I called ahead of time and they said "no problem", like $40 to transcribe vaccinations. Got there and after an hour wait Dr. Bernardo insisted on full physical for $175. Needless to say we left. We had all req'd proof of vaccinations. My wife had full overseas in Canada less than a month earlier. We submitted AOS with 3025 and note stating physical within one year. We'll see what happens. I was disgusted with this office and Dr. Bernardo and filed a complaint with Concentra Corporate. Dr. Puricelli actually called me and she insisted they were correct to require full physical. I showed them instructions from I-485, etc. They had no clue. Very unprofessional.
