  1. Yay we finally got my husband's NOA1 today. Funny thing is that it wasn't even in our mailbox (we live in an apartment building). The mail handler must have put in someone else's mailbox and that person left it on the shelf. My husband always checks the random letters that people leave on the shelf and thankfully he did so today as well. Of all the letters to misplace they sure had to misplace this one!

Anywho, they had cashed the check on 5/8 so we were expecting to receive something by the weekend. Their receipt date is 4/25/13. I'm so happy nothing was wrong with our application....I was starting to get a little paranoid.

Christi85 enjoy your trip. If anyone else knows how to correctly update the list I would appreciate if you could add my NOA1 date. Thanks in advanced and have a pleasant weekend to you all and Happy Mothers Day to any moms on this thread.

  2. My husband has fair skin and blue eyes and is confused for American all the time. We have gone to resorts in the DR and people would talk to us in English because they'd assume he is American but whenever I'd be by myself they'd speak to me in Spanish because they'd assume I was the Dominican dating the American since I look like your average hispanic (which I am). Until recently I was mostly used to seeing and meeting tan, brown and dark skinned dominicans and would assume any lighter skinned person was puerto rican/south american unless they had a dominican accent. People at school would always ask me if I am mixed (African American and White) because I am yellow skinned with curly hair, full lips and dark eyes. I would always correct and say no I am dominican, not because I was offended but because I felt proud to be dominican and did not want to be confused with any other nationality, be it American, Chinese, Guatemalan, Portuguese, etc. I had only learned and memorized American history but knew little about Dominican history and our roots. After educating myself I realized that yes I am "mixed" and no longer make the same assumptions as before. Now when asked if I'm mixed I can say yes, I'm dominican which is a mixture of taino, spaniards and africans.

I can identify with your husband somewhat in wanting to correct people because of dominican pride. I don't get asked that anymore (I was asked this at school where there was a predominantly white population) because here in NY there are tons of hispanics, but at the time I got used to it quickly and did not mind at all :)

  3. Ok I have a question How many days does it take for the paper from the medical to get finished. We are cutting it close because she has to pick up her packet on June 30 exam on July 1 interview July 11... Will it be done for us to pick up on 8 July

Kind of off topic but my husband has his interview scheduled for July 11th as well. He had his medical exam done today and will pick it up on the 8th too. Maybe we'll see you guys there on the 11th. Good luck.

  4. WHOOO WHOOOO WERE APPROVED I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!! IM JUST STARING AT IT..

    Post Decision Activity

On June 15, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

YESSSSSSSSS, this is great news! Finally! Congrats :dance::dance:

  5. you've received the interview letter, which is part of packet 4.

Many Embassies are not sending out postal mail with other forms, instead posting the forms online.

Specifically for the medical forms, usually the Approved Medical Examination Facility has the forms, but

now'd be a good time to check in with the Embassy IV Unit Web Site, see what they have for download.

With the interview letter, and the medical forms, can go to medical exam.

    Thanks for that clarification :star:

  6. Congratulations on receiving an interview date!

Your husband could contact the Consulutorios de Visa directly and ask them if this letter would be enough to get his medical completed or if he needs to wait for his packet from the Embassy. I contacted the Consultorios de Visa via e-mail and, to my surprise, they replied the following day. So, he might save some time in going there if he e-mails or calls first. I believe CR-1 beneficiaries also get a packet, yet there is only one packet at Santo Domingo and not two like in some other Embassies.

    Best wishes! (F)

Thanks! I feel like it has been years already and everyone else had been done with this process while my husband and I have been stuck waiting. So happy it will soon be over.

My husband wants me to call and confirm with the NVC but I'll tell him to call the clinic instead just in case.

  7. I believe that since you are filing cr1/ir1 this is the only confirmation you will get. Your husband can just print out the email and go to the consultorio with it. DR beneficiaries only receive packet 4 which has the interview letter and some people get the forms that need to be filled out. You should just download all the forms needed from the website and fill them out.

Thanks. The VJ timeline always confuses me because they ask when you received packet 3 or 4 but I never really knew what each packet is supposed to contain so I can't even tell whether I received it or not.

I had the gut feeling that he could use this letter though. Thanks again.

  8. Hello everyone,

I was fortunate enough to receive my husband's interview date yesterday via phone and email, however, I'm a little bit confused as to what my husband will need in order to go get his medical exam done.

I've read that he just needs the letter with his interview date, which he will receive in the mail. I guess this would be packet 4? So now I'm wondering if the pdf I got via email yesterday would be considered packet 3 or packet 4? If this is packet 3, could that letter also be used to go get the exam done? I'll post the contents of the letter below.

    NVC Case Number: XXXXXXXXXXXXX

    Dear (Beneficiary's Name):

The enclosed information pertains to (beneficiary's name) interest in immigrating to the United States of America. The National Visa Center (NVC) has completed its processing of (beneficiary's name)'s petition, case number XXXXXXXXXXXXX; and forwarded it to the American Embassy/Consulate in SANTO DOMINGO.

An immigrant visa interview has been scheduled for the applicant at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in

SANTO DOMINGO on July 11, 2011 at 06:45 am.

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please read and follow all Interview Preparation Instructions located on the Department of State's web site at: www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov, under the "Prepare for your visa interview abroad" link. Important information egarding the required medical appointment is listed on this site. Failure to read and promptly follow all nstructions provided on this site will result in your immigrant visa being refused at the initial interview.

Upon arrival at the Embassy/Consulate, the applicant should present this letter to the receptionist.

Those members of the applicant's family, listed on the attached page, must appear at the Embassy/Consulate on the above appointment date. The address is provided on the next page.

WHAT TO DO IF THE APPLICANT CANNOT KEEP THE APPOINTMENT:

Some Embassies/Consulates reschedule interview appointments themselves; others utilize an outside service provider to reschedule appointments. To determine the proper procedure for rescheduling the applicant's interview ppointment, please go to the Department of State's web site at: www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov, click the "Prepare or your visa interview abroad" link, and read the US Embassy/Consulate information on page (4) entitled "Embassy/Consulate General-Specific Interview Guidelines." If the Embassy/Consulate does not have any specific interview guidelines listed, you should contact the Embassy/Consulate directly to reschedule the applicant's interview.

So what I would like to know is:

    (1) Is this packet 3 or 4?

    (2) If my husband takes this letter to the designated clinic, will they accept it and give him the medical exam?

    Thanks for your help.

  9. Wow, there has been a lot of action here lately.

Congrats to everyone on their SIFs, CCs and interview dates.

I myself called and found out my husband's interview date today. We got what we've been praying for, a July interview. July 11th to be exact. Now I can relax and stop stressing out so much about possibly not being able to go.

To those of you still waiting I wish you the best of luck!

  10. OMG OMG OMG!!! I just tried to sign-in to the payment portal and got the SIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't received ANYTHING official yet, but you can bet your ___ that I'll be on the phone first thing tomorrow to confirm!! I feel like it's a false positive just because I was so discouraged that it was gonna take forever to close, but low and behold..... SIF!!!!!

I'm with you guys... just praying to God that we can still get that July date!!! I'll cry happy tears forever if we do!!!

    Congrats!

  11. A July interview is totally not out of the question for you. The NVC *says* they schedule in the second week of the month for the next month... to my mind, that should be next week, rather than the 15th necessarily. I CCed the first week of May, interview scheduled second week of May for 21st June... there is someone with pretty much the exact schedule as mine in the June Interviews thread from your embassy (interview scheduled 14th May for 21st June). Since you CCed late May, your interview should be scheduled soon and it could very well be for the 3rd or 4th week of July.

The NVC does actually schedule interviews throughout the month (not just in the second week), but from what I've seen a lot of people who CC at the very end/very beginning of the month will get assigned their date in the second week. I hope you get yours next week!

I guess my concern is that July will fill up with interviews for K-1 visa applicants and any other miscellaneous tourist visa applicants while I'm here waiting for NVC to pencil me in.

I hope I do still have a shot. Will keep my fingers crossed.
