Looks good to me, you have pretty much everything that we sent off in our AOS package. Dont forget to photocopy the front and back of the I-94 and to write your alien number on the back of your passport photo's in pencil!
Good luck!

I don’t believe it!..
We got our NOA 1 for both the EAD & AOS today 01 May ! Received on April 24th 2006 Notice date is April 28th 2006!
I wasn’t expecting an NOA 1 quite so soon!.. I'm shocked!..
Oooh congratulations thats rather promising!!!! Hopefully we should be getting ours soon all going well, our file was recieved on April 28th!!! <touching wood> We have similar timelines!!!

Any immigration issue that makes it easier for illegals rather than the decent law abiding people is bound to cause high emotion and debate on this site, look at the boat we are all in!!!
I guess if you look at good ol' fashioned British queuing
. How peed off are you when someone cuts in the line when you have correctly joined the queue at the back and have been patiently waiting for X amount of time?!
-
And only one more thing is it good to get a Visa/Immigration Law firm to do the paperwork to make sure there are no mistakes?
We used a lawyer to prepare our K1 application and to be honest it was a complete waste of time and money! I have just sent off our adjustment of status application (something you have to do once you are in the US) and I have done it all myself by using visajourney members and the guides on here. You have to do what you feel comfortable with. However do read through the guides and check out the example forms, it's pretty clean cut and if you get stuck there are so many people on here in the same boat who will be able to help!
Good luck on starting your journey!

As others have said
I would recommend the letter from the temp agency and for sure his return ticketAlso I would like to recommend being honest! As when I came through MSP airport a few weeks after getting our NOA2 I had prepared myself with a bundle of information like your fiance has collected. I never had to show it but was asked directly "and why should I let you through?". To which I told him that we were currently going through the K1 visa process, where we were at with that and that I could show him my proof that I would be returning, I also told him that it wouldn't be worth my while staying in the country because it would mess up our visa and we would be a separated for longer. He asked me lots of questions trying to trip me up, which is why I recommend you be honest with the POE officer. After that he then let me through warning me to make sure that I left the country once my trip was over!
Good luck to your fiance, it's fairly nerve racking going through this when you are halfway through getting your visa!

I had a similar question recently to you check out the LINK.
I dont fancy waiting another however many weeks to get it back in my married name, so any advice on how to go about changing names without waiting weeks for a new card would be greatly appreciated. You will have to wait for a new card to be sent out, no two ways about that. Possibly because it's only a name change it shouldn't take as long as your first card as you are in the system. Ensure that you change your name prior to the two weeks before your I-94 expires!
Also do i have to hand over the ssn card i recieved yesterday when i go to apply to have my name changed, if i do can i make a record of the number and use it when, if, i need to while i wait for my new cardDo not give your original card back, say you don't have it on you! Your SSN number will be the same as your first card so you will still be able to use it.
I personally would do it sooner rather than later (because I did it later and there was a bit of a rush to get things done!)
Good Luck

Any one remember the UM Bongo ad's???

Good news my I-693 is almost ready!!! However I've just found out that my school never passed on the information that I had my TB injection to the doctors... GRRRRRR!!!
I'm wondering if there is a health implication of having this injection twice? And I was wondering what the proceedure will be when I get it done. I know I need to have it, and recontacting the school is not an option, it would be easier to get it done!
Please reassure needle-phobic-nicola!!!
Thanks

UPDATE
No squash in liquid form found anywhere as yet, however the search continues.........
In the mean time, Target has a great "own brand" cool aid/crystal light/country life etc lemonade, raspberry iced tea and raspberry lemonade for only $1.77 per tub (loads cheaper than the previously mentioned brands!)
I'm feeling a lot more reassured that i'm not the only person who is missing that sugary syrup we fondly call squash!

Congratulations!!! I would check out the guide's on here and utilise the example forms they are very useful when filling out all the forms! It's easily done, I promiseAOS GUIDE LINK

Take what I posted to the office and start yelling for the offfice manager if the service rep says you can't do it.
LMAO will do!

We had to wait until Claudeth had something from the USCIS in her married name like the EAD or GC befor SSA would change her name. They wouldn't accept the marriage certificate
Goodness, I hope this won't be a wasted trip... I will go with an army of information to support my application to change my name! I'm going to go prepared!!! GAWD DAMN IT GIMME MY CARD!!! hehehehe
-
Yipppeeeeeeee sister-in-law has come through for me!!!! She's taking me up there tomorrow
If anyone is reading this and has their SSN in their maiden name and needs to change it to their married name, keep an eye on your expiry date of the I-94, learn from my (and probably others) mistakes and do it way before the 2 weeks is up on your card!!!!
It saves getting grey hairs and worrying!!!
DO NOT give up your SSN card until you receive the new one. Say the dog ate it. LOLMdyoung thanks for that tip, I will definately not take it with me!!!
Thank you so much for the support you guys have given.
Regards

Thanks for the replies. My I-94 expires on May 9th so i'm trying to get one of my sister in laws to help with a lift. I have a feeling that i'm not gonna make the 2 week deadline but i'm gonna try my damndest to get it.
So I guess if unable to change my name on the card, once I get EAD and a job it will have to be in my maiden name until I get the green card right? Then I can file another document with the SSN office to change my name?
Thanks once again (I am kicking myself for not realizing how much time I had left on the I-94)

Quick question, I have my SSN which is in my maiden name. They wanted me to go back when I have our marriage certificate to change the name to my husbands surname. My I-94 is almost about to expire ( 2/3 weeks left on it), I am wondering where I stand.
Is it possible to change the name later or is this going to cause me problems. I have trouble getting to the local SSN office as it's so far away and with most of my in-laws working full time it proves to be quite difficult. I just want to save us as much hassle as possible and do things on a needs must!
Any advice or experience would be helpful. Thanks

I've noticed over the past week or so that there have been many questions with regards to the I-693 form in the AOS forums. The questions all seem to be the same (but worded differently!). I would like to suggest a sticky topic on the top of the AOS forum to address this issue as it seems to be a hot topic!
Thanks
Nicola

Being almost vegetarian, I can't imagine anything worse! However I have just joined allrecipes.com and doing a search I found it! It's got a 3 star rating and all ingredients should be easy to get hold of. There's also loads of recipe's on there that are "traditional" for places over the world!!! I myself can't wait to make xmas pudding, mince pies and xmas cake.... yuuuuumy!!!
Happy cooking!

i think that once you have a legitimate record of receiving the vacciniation, no matter where it is from the civil surgeon must accept this and make the necessary ticks on your application. maybe someone here could confirm this?
Thats correct, you have to get your vaccination history transcribed by a civil surgeon designated by USCIS and have it recorded on the I-693 form.
linkSpecial Instructions:The medical examination must be conducted by a civil surgeon who has been designated by USCIS. For the most current list of civil surgeons in your area, please check our Civil Surgeons Locator. To obtain by telephone the names and phone numbers of the designated civil surgeons in your area, please call USCIS' National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283. You will be asked to provide your zip code. Please have a pen or pencil ready to write down the list of civil surgeons in your area.
Missy I would call up as many places that are easily reached to find the best deals as it seems to be hit and miss! I would also read through the forum posts for the past few days as this issue seems to be a hot topic at the moment!
Good luck
Nicola

The link to the civil surgeon finder on the USCIS website is HERE. And definately do a search to find the best priced place, some members have been stung for loads of $$$'s as other people have pointed out!
Good luck

I was searching the AOS forum for this particular issue and I found someone who got some good advice about this. On my form I've put "date unknown at present" and then the supplement I wrote
"I qualify for Advanced parole as I entered the US on a K1 visa, and am applying for the advanced parole in connection with my Adjustment of Status application.
I require a multiple entry advance parole document so that I may visit my family in England."
Which seems to be sufficient. I'm sorry that I can't remember the original post that I got this information from, but if you use the search engine I'm sure it will come up!
Nicola
-
I'm getting the same thing done tomorrow! I called up loads of places and most ranged from $100+ , one place I called were charging $200 with vaccinations at $75
. Luckily I found somewhere that will charge $25 for the form to be filled in and i'm getting the chickenpox vaccination for $18. It's an approved site in Minnesota. I would recomend calling all of the approved places up within reasonable driving distance and choose the cheapest.
Good luck

Isn't the issue that her county is listed under both the Milwaukee & St. Paul lists???
Nope its under the Minnesota list according to the posted web link! Which is alll good!!!
Hey, I learn something new every day I don't know if you want the St. Paul office though. They're slooooooooooooooooooooow.I'd sooner drive 40 minutes to St. Paul rather than the several hours to Milwaukee!!! Hell we went through Nebraska (when it was slooow!) and survived, things can't possibly get slower than that!!!
Thanks for your help!
Nicola
-
Strange because Eau Claire is listed under Minnesota and our county is listed there too!
The St. Paul District serves Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The following Wisconsin counties are serviced by the St. Paul USCIS office. (See the Milwaukee USCIS Who Are We for the Wisconsin counties serviced by that USCIS office.) Adams, Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Buffalo, Burnett, Chippewa, Clark, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Iron, Jackson, Juneau, La Crosse, Lincoln, Marathon, Monroe, Oneida, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Portage, Price, Rusk, Sawyer, St. Croix, Taylor, Trempealeau, Vernon, Vilas, Washburn, and Wood.I guess i'll keep our fingers crossed and hope that we end up with MN as our district!
Thanks
