Take a look at my timeline. You'll never call the consulate in Malaysia--they'll send you packet 3, you'll send some info back. Then, they'll send you packet 4 with your interview date and info about the medical. I think my timeline is optimal: I sent everything back the day I received it and even had the interview moved up.
If you do everything right, I'd estimate NOA2 - Interview in Malaysia at about 60 days. Just make sure you have your police certificate!

We only waited 10 months between meeting online and getting engaged. We did live together for 3 months before becoming engaged, though.

I had fun reading this topic! Thanks for sharing, everyone.
I'm 22 and he is 26. We met online in late 2009.

Minnesota is becoming more conservative but, thankfully, I don't see this passing. People who don't vote are counted as "NO" votes in Minnesota.

Congrats again, Riki. <3 Really hope we'll stay in touch even after the visa process is over for both of us.
Less than 6 days until the interview! And in 10 days, we'll be in Bali! Nervous and excited for the interview; just excited for the trip to Bali.

Happy birthday and congrats! What a great surprise you received.
-
Congratulations! My fiancé did the medical about a week and a half ago. I was so nervous in the waiting room, haha! Our interview is not until May 26th, though. They managed to move it up from May 31st, but the 26th was the earliest they had available.

I think you'd be safe for another month. If anything, you could attach a letter which explains why you waited two months. I still don't envision any kind of problem, though.
Keep in mind, you could always mail it now and postpone the interview if you haven't procured the necessary documents by them.

Have you tried calling DOS to get the same information? I believe that's also an option if you cannot get through to the London embassy.
Instructions for calling DOS here.

Well I'm not sure how big your age difference is, but I wouldn't worry yet. It sounds like your RFE was for a legitimate reason: you forgot the death certificate.
A big age difference may be seen as a red flag at some embassies, but there's certainly no such thing as an age barrier that would get your petition automatically denied.
Best of luck and try not to worry so much!

Yes, most embassies allow you to have one co-sponsor. When it comes time for the interview, both you and your father will fill out an I-134, even if you have not found a job by then. Just make sure your father makes enough to cover all of his dependents and your fiancé.
What do you mean by "prove this money exists"? I believe the fee for the interview is currently $350. Other than that, the beneficiary's financial situation is not taken into account. You just need to assure the embassy that you/your co-sponsor can support him when he arrives in the USA.
Best of luck.

Selamat tengahari,
The medical went great! He had no vaccination records so he was worried about needing tons of shots. They only gave him one MMR, though. Truth be told, I think I was more nervous than he was. I was sitting the waiting room sweating like crazy and feeling ill. We're both glad it's over.
Yeah, we got our interview date too! They originally scheduled it for May 31, but my social visit pass expires that day! They were kind enough to move it to May 26 so I can attend. We have 19 long days ahead of us.
How are you doing?
-
Hey! I'm doing just dandy here. Enjoying Malaysia + living with my fiancé. The embassy received our 'packet 3' response eight days ago, so we are hoping to receive packet 4 with the interview date in the mail anytime now!
I'm still sure my fiancé will be put in AP after the interview, but I figure the sooner we get an interview, the sooner we start AP and the sooner AP finishes.
-
Hi Riki! Thanks so much for the "review" of the medical exam you sent me. My fiancé is still terrified, but now he knows what to expect.
Thanks Bsze... I'm checking the mail for packet 4 every day just in case they sent it quickly.
Off I go to my Bahasa Malaysia class. It's been very fun!

It seems like CSC is taking about 5 months and VSC about 6 months from NOA1 to NOA2. Don't worry yet! Most late 2010 filers I've seen on VJ (myself included) waited 5 months or more for their NOA2. Yours should be coming sooner rather than later.

If your fiancé is a male from the Middle East, this question is very tough to answer! Many beneficiaries from the MENA countries have to go through additional background checks (AP/AR) after the interview. Because of this possibility, I would not make any travel arrangements until the visa is in hand.
Best of luck for your interview!
-
To answer your other question, there is a question on the I-129F which asks you to write the location of the embassy you'd like to use. I've never heard of someone not being allowed to interview at another embassy. Is his current address in the neighboring country? Then I don't see a problem.
USCIS had no problem with my fiancé interviewing in Kuala Lumpur.
Best of luck!

You can call them, email them or simply wait until they mail you a letter saying they've received your file.
-
Looks good. Make sure to send supporting evidence/documents with your I-134. There will be more paperwork for your fiance to do before the interview, but it doesn't require your signature.
I'm not sure what they do with the cases at NVC, but they are usually not there for too long. You can call or email to get the new case number once they have received the file. NVC can also tell you when they sent your file to the embassy. Here is a link with tips about calling NVC and DOS. You are not required to call/email NVC, but many people like to do it in order to track their file more closely. Personally, I emailed them 9 days after my NOA2 email and they gave me my new case number and told me they had sent my case to the embassy. 3 days after that, I got a letter from the NVC with the new case number again.

Congrats!!!!!!
Alex & Stacee: We also followed the guide.
Well looks like our file was received at the embassy today. Hoping things continue going quickly! I'm sure we'll be put in AP/AR after the interview, so I figure the sooner that begins, the sooner it is over!
-
Ohhh good luck at your interview! Looks like your process has gone very quickly since NOA2
Our file left NVC on April 8, so it should be arriving in Malaysia soon. We have everything ready for packet 3--it's sitting in an envelope already! Once we get our interview date, I am going to try to request a sooner appointment time as well.

Congrats from Malaysia

I got some good news via email from the NVC today:
"The NVC has completed its processing of the visa petition you mentioned in your letter and has forwarded the petition to the assigned US Embassy/Consulate General for further processing."
NOA2 in hand, got questions about NVC, Consulate and expected wait times

No, you don't send originals of everything. They'll send you an official checklist. Once you sign/swear that you have all the documents listed, they will give you an interview time. Until then, you wait. So make sure you have everything ready right now.
