  1. Hi guys new to the forum!! I'm in England an my fiancé is in the states. We nearly completed the I-195f packet an we think it will be sent in over the next week or so. Problem.... Every site I look on gives me a different time period for how ling this actually takes from start to finish!! We've actually booked a small wedding for nov 8th as that's my birthday. It's no problem to change the date for that but obviously my parents want to book flights.... Any ideas for English people how long I'm looking at?? Or how far into the process I'll get an idea of completion dates so they can book flights???

    Thank you soooo much

    Emma xxx

At the moment depending on what service centre your application will be routed to - your petition could be approved between 3 weeks to 9 months  . Over the past couple of weeks some February filers have already been approved - some from august 2010 are still awaiting approval. If I have learned anything from this process it is that there is no rhyme or reason for anything USCIS do. I am now over the 5 month 'processing time' that is listed for the California Service Centre. Alot that have filed a week after me have already been approved.

I think it's best not to make any solid plans - who knows when you will be approved. Even if it takes 5 months to approve the petition there will be another wait for your medical/interview.

Good luck - get the package away ASAP.

  2. WE GOT OUR NOA2! Last friday!

I was so upset today again, so I took your advice and called again, and the first guy I spoke to wouldnt transfer me to a TIER 2, until I cried and got upset and he did. Then I had a woman and she started to tell me I was still in the processing time frame, but then she said "Oh wait a second... wait... you were approved!" I said WHATTT??? She said you were approve dlast friday, the 4th! So then I spoke to her and another man and they said that the E-mail and USCIS online portfolio has had trouble updating lately. They then called CSC and CSC confirmed that my NOA2 hard copy had been mailed out.

YESSSS

YAYYYYY!!! Congratulations you two! Fabulous news! x

  3. Start by asking them to repeat their name employee number so you can write it down - I think it gets their attention. Be persistent ... you are outside of normal processing time and have the right to a service request.

Also, if you haven't already, contact your Congressional Representative and ask them to initialize a service request. I got an answer back from mine in 2 days.

Good luck, and I hope you'll have your answer soon!!!

Asking them to repeat their name and employee number is a good idea! I know when people call me at work and ask me to spell my name to them I'm like 'Uh oh', I better be nice to this person

  4. Skype! And Skype mobile :)

Also, GMAIL calls are free to any number in the US, so I use that to call Tim alot :)

I just discovered that you can call US phones for free on GMAIL the other day! I have wasted so much on purchasing skype credit!

I also find that the quality of video/voice calls is much better through gmail then skype.

You can also download an iphone app called 'Talkatone' to log into your gmail account and use 3G for free calls to any US phone! I have seriously saved hundreds of dollars a month - wish I knew earlier!

    HOORAY!

  5. What a lovely place this is. People who are happy being screwed by a bunch of Nazi wannabees in our government can write about it here, but those who want to sound off about how said wannabees are ruining our lives are told to shut up.

Al422, people are always so quick to jump down your throat. haha. I appreciate your posts lol

OP, if you threw your worries and stress into a pile with everyone elses - you'd want yours back. Fiance and I are 19 hours apart. Needless to say we chat for about 10 minutes when I'm on my work lunch break and then for another 5 mins when I get off work - by then it's way past midnight where he is. We only really get to talk/skype on the weekend.

As for stress relief - exercise is a great way to let off steam. I've also been spending copious amounts of time with my friends and family since it will be a couple of months until I get to be around them.

My fiance has started to arrange work for me when I get there - volunteer work I can do to keep me occupied when I get there until I receive EAD. Maybe this will pass some of the time for you?

Good luck. Once you get to 5 months nag/###### and whine all you like to USCIS/Senator. Fiance jumps on the bitching train first thing monday morning!

    Good luck x

  6. Well, here I am at the 5 month mark. 152 days and still no approval from CSC. Monday I will be faxing my Senator and Representative requesting their assistance in moving things along. I hope that it will help.

    John

I hear yah! My fiance will also be doing the same thing monday morning. I find it laughable that the senators website stresses that uscis are extremely "STRICT" on the order petitions are received! ha!

Good luck to you both and hopefully we'll both be receiving those elusive NOA2's this week!

    x

  7. My fiance cheekily called and requested an expedite since I start a job in May - they said we would hear back in 5 days, if not to call back.

Fiance will call back tomorrow. We will be at our 5 month mark in a couple of days and you can bet your #### we'll be calling/nagging/whining every day until we have our NOA2!

We are hoping to expedite the EAD also - I wonder if that will happen? ha!

I'm so sick of wishing everyone good luck because it seems to delay us even further - so ummm fingers crossed instead?

    Happy hump day! x

  8. Can I be the first to say a big fat wat the eff to these Jan/Feb approvals!? What the hell is going on at CSC? Last I checked october came before nov/dec/jan/feb. Saying that they have pulled them out for training exercises is no excuse to 'pull out' peitions filed a few weeks ago - there are mountains of boxes and people waiting that can be used for training purposes. What a load of BS!

My fiance called USCIS today and put in an expedite request - they seemed to entertain our request and said we'll be hearing back within 5 days. I don't care that we haven't reached the 5 months - neither did those that filed a month ago.

So over this ####### process. GRRRRR!!!!!

Having said that, I hope everyone has a lovely day today :) and someone checks a calendar at CSC and realises that October 2010 comes before Jan 2011.

  9. For something completely different...

If you are good with Photoshop/Illustrator you can design for Print on Demand websites. You can set up your own online store for free or pay a small fee a month (which can be deducted from any commission you make). You can set up a basic store at cafepress for free or a premium for $6.95 a month/$55(?) a year.

I've had a store set up on cafepress for a couple of years now and usually make a couple of hundreds a month. It takes a bit of time to set up but once you make a few sales - they snowball. Lots of social networking/marketing involved to drive customers to your store but hey... I just made about a grand over christmas which restored my faith in my design abilities and print on demand companies :)

    Try cafepress.com or zazzle.com.

    Good luck :)

  10. Maybe if you call Dr. Millar you can get a copy of the form mailed with your results??? Also did you need to provide your full medical details/history to them? I have lived in a lot of different places, getting my full history if needed is going to be a big issue.

Best of luck at your interview when it comes up :)

Got all the results in the mail the other day. The DS-2053 - which is the form Dr Millar filled out when I was there. They even sent over the blood results for my records. So I'm pretty sure I have all I need.

Oops sorry I meant full immunisation records/not full medical. I guess unless you have any major health problems you don't need to bring anything else with you :)
