  1. Good evening members,

I'm a US citizen, and I'm planning to bring my parents and sister to the US. My parents will retire in a few years from their jobs in Dominican Republic. The point is that they are not ready to come live here yet. They want to retire fist, so I'm not submitting an application for them for the next two or three years. My sister, on the other hand, graduated from college, she is 23 y.o. and unmarried. I know that if I petition her is going to be about 12 years before she can come, so I think that, at the end, it's going to be the same amount of time if I petition her or if my parents do it. I prefer to do it myself, so I can start the process ASAP, instead of waiting for my parents to be ready to come. I just want to save time for my sister, but I am not sure if this the most clever way to do it.

    Thank you!

  2. Hi!

I'm just awaiting for my interview to become a US citizen. I'm planning to bring my parents and sister to the US. Do you know the current processing times for parents and siblings? I read somewhere online that you can bring your siblings in 18 months. Is that true? Is the processing time for siblings being reduced? (My sister is 22-years-old).

    Thanks

  3. Hello everybody!

It's been a while! I am here in US since 11/18. I have been working and accommodating to my new place.

I hope you can help me with a question: I received my SSC and permanent resident card with my maiden name (which is really long), I thought I would receive them with my husband's last name. Now I want to change my name for my husband's last name. we got married in Dominican Rep. I went to the SSA and the lady suggested me to change my name in my green card first and then in my SSC to avoid confusions. But when i go to the USCIS site, the only reasons to change your legal name are: USCIS error, legal name changed since the green card issuance and some others. And that cost me 365.00

Any ideas about what to do?

    I'll appreciate it

  4. Hi to all my friends!

Today I received my passport with my IR1. No errors on it. So... just waiting for the 18th. Im getting a little bit sad. I almost forgot all this process but once the case got the NVC, everything went really fast, more than I expect it, really. Im surprise. I have a lot of things to do in my country before leaving and short time.

Now I have a question: What should I do once in the States? I know that I don't need the removal of conditions cause a have 3 years married... but, what follows in this process? Is this the end?

  5. Hi all!!

I just want to repeat my last post. I got approved on Thursday 28th. My interview was really quick (about 3 min). And the only evidence requested was my daughter's report of birth abroad. We already booked a flight for Nov 18th. Thanks again for all the advice received during my NVC journey and for your wishes. I'll try to keep in touch.

For those who have interview this month, my best wishes!!

  6. OMG I got approved today!!!

The waiting was really hard. We were waiting from 5 am to 2 pm today. But my interview was just 3 minutes long (so fast). Just a few simple questions. And the only evidence requested was my daughter's report of birth abroad, not even a picture or letter!

Thanks to all the vj members, especially to Loto and all the people who help me. I wish you the best in your journey. And for the new people here continue reading this website because is really helpful and follow the instructions. The only thing that help us to fly the nvc step fast was Visa Journey.

Thank you sooooooooooo much! I love you guys!
