  1. Thanks for all the input. My husband has already explained what happened to the Embassy and apologized for what he said and did.He sent that in(certified mail) giving every detail of what happened. Now,we have to work on the next step and PRAY even harder than before. With all the evidence we have of a sincere relationship and all of my trips, hopefully they will know that NO ONE is perfect and we have all made mistakes which we regret.

  2. hello,my husband and I have been married since April 2010 and I have been to Nigeria 6 times and he has had two interviews, both of which I was there. We are 6 years apart in age(I am older)and have provided my sponsor documents and a co sponsor which both of us make well over the poverty level, all the documentation of our relationship including pictures, emails, phone records, itinerary, letters from both sides even a letter offering my husband a job when he gets here..Anyway,we are now in AP and I have contacted my Congressman's office to see what is going on since we have been in AP since Oct 2011 and have received no word. She was just able last week to find out that we have potential fraud indicators, which are: 1.I was still legally married when my (now)husband and I met.(although we were living in seperate states)2.My husband had applied for a visitors visa back in 2007 before we met and was denied 3.When he went to that interview he allowed a "immigrant consultant" help him with his forms which the man sent in FOR HIM,in which the man lied and said my husband was married and would definately return to Nigeria.(this was obviously not true, but the man assured him they would grant him a visa but never told MY HUSBAND what he had wrote and sent in on his behalf)So,when they asked my husband if he was married(2007) he said no,and of course that did not coincide with what the man had put on the petition that he sent in for him.(HUGE PROBLEM)

Now,we have to try and figure out how to convince the CO that my husband is a good and HONEST man and that he made a mistake in allowing someone else to fill the form for him and that he is truly sorry.

Has anyone ever had to go through AP with any fraud-type issues and if so what was the outcome and how did you convince them that you are not a liar and that it was a mistake??Please Help!!!!

Thank you for your replies in advance.

  3. No real reason was given, and it wasnt actually a denial, just that the case would be sent back to the states for possible revocation..Luckily,I was able to catch it before it left Lagos and get a new interview scheduled..Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. If I didnt have a job and family and school,I would be going to Nigeria to live by now until it all gets resolved..It has been a miserable 2 years :(

  4. I was also in Lagos on August 18th for my husband's interview and was outside as well.It made no difference at all,my husband even asked the interviewer if they would like to speak with me and he said it wasn't necessary. However,I do think it makes a difference somehwhat for them to know that you(the US citizen) has made the attempts to come to Naija. I have been to Lagos 4 times in the last 2 and a half years so they know that MY feelings are real. Its all about the Nigerian spouse proving THEIR feelings are legit. My husband was also given the standard letter, that stated the application was being returned to the states with a recommendation that it be revoked. We have not received any emails regarding this yet but I have,as well as my Congressman's office have been in contact with the Consulate and we have been approved to have his interview rescheduled.

Hopefully, this will be our last step!

  6. Well,we had all kinds of proof, phone records, emails, itinerary for all 4 trips to Nigeria, pictures, letter from friends and supervisors at my job etc..even letters from the Congressman's office on our behalf and were still denied. My husband and I are as real as real gets..and Lagos is just one of those places where you can never tell.I was with him for his interview, sat outside for 6 hours, they asked him about the difference in our race and about our age difference(which btw,is only 6 years)and the guy just gave him the basic "for Immigration purposes" letter. I have since contacted the consulate and after they originally told me in person in Lagos when I went to ACS it would be about 30 days for his app to return to the states, they now emailed me and said from 3-4 months before it gets returned to the states.I wish there was a way to have another interview scheduled while its still in Lagos.

In any case God knows the best time for us to be together and we will keep proving our love and dedication to each other, afterall thats what marriage is all about.Never giving up! ;)

  7. Hi souleymon ,my husband went for the spousal (CR-1) visa and was denied,no real reason given;we had all kinds of proof too.It was a complete shock. They asked my husband about our racial and age differences which btw,is only 6 years:(

God's time is the best however,we will keep persevering. And thanks for the compliments!! :)

  8. My husband and I went through almost the same process, although I originally filed for the I-129 fiance visa, then during that process went back to Nigeria and got married so when I came back to the states I had to start all over from scratch.I wish I could say its a quick and painless process but it just isnt.I filed for the I-130 in June 2010 and his documents just got sent to Lagos last week, very discouraging.I also got a Congressman's office invloved and that was what got the train finally moving again. My calls were to no avail, just the same, its "processing" every time and I am a very aggressive person,I might add.Anyway, just keep the faith and get everything to them as soon as possible and you will be together soon. Not to worry, our fate is in God's hands, not our own.Stay Blessed!
