  1. I'm an automobile claims adjuster... I do this for a living. $250 is VERY low. However, filing suit is very likely not going to be neccessary. Keep in mind, if you get an attorney they will take 1/3 of whatever you get, and THEY will likely settle before ever filing suit anyway.

Who is negotiating with the insurance company, the senior citizen, or the family member?

What I'd suggest is telling them that $250 isn't NEARLY enough.

here's some things to keep in mind:

Are there any photos of the bruises?

ANY medical attention, including just a visit to a primary care doctor to be "checked out"?

How was her daily routine affected - e.g., couldn't go for daily walk, needed someone to come over every day to check on her, had to sleep in a chair, hard to cleanse herself, money spent on heating pads, aspirin, are they nervous to go back outside and cross streets? Make a list and call the adjuster back. Have a dollar amount in mind, at least as a negotiation "starting point".

Once the adjuster knows the full extent of the issues, I'm sure they'll move on it. Unfortunately, sometimes people, especially older ones, have a tendency to "minimize" the issue ("oh, it was just a bump, I'm fine"), and the adjuster really has nothing to go on.

Good luck. If I can be of any more help, feel free to PM me.

  2. 24"-30" of snow here where I live in Connecticut with drifts up to mid-thigh :o

The snow has finally ended and I'm trying to dig out 2 cars. Also the airports are either closed or have limited flights leaving. I hate winter!!!

Connecticut here too... We got spanked pretty bad, for sure....

  3. Maybe the OP meant it to be a free for all religious thread and get everyones views etc. But by asking how many 'CHRISTIANS' there are kind of limits it to one religious view in my opinion. They arent asking who is and isnt christians, theyre asking how many christians are there. I dont see how that can be aimed at anyone who isnt a Christian??

I agree that I don't think that the OP meant it to be a "free for all" with religious views. However, by the same token, answering "Yes I'm a Christian" or "No I'm not a Christian, I'm a (fill in the blank)" also shouldn't raise anyone's ire. Especially since for the most part, the people responding with "No" thus far haven't been sharing any of the fundaments or specifics of their belief system (unless asked specifically), or attacking Christianity or anyone else's beliefs (please note the general "live and let live" approach most have taken), and are merely answering what was asked.

My impression from the OP's first post was that they were interested in finding out who was a Christian here. By chiming and saying "not" the OP gets her answer...and can continue to commune with people whom she wants based on that answer. I don't think the OP meant this to become any sort of a problem, and frankly, until a couple of the Christian posts on here (Lily's at the beginning, yours, Ace13's which while understandable and a fair question, is going to open a lot of discussion which may not go so well), I don't think it would have been.

No one has attacked anyone for being Christian, unless you consider a person saying they're not a Christian is somehow an attack on your faith.

    :thumbs::thumbs:

    Very well said.

And, just for the record (and to stay true to the original question), my guess is:

    136 Christians on Visa Journey.

  4. This Thread will most likely be taken over by the Non-believers and then closed unfortunetly.

Funny how peeps in VJ can post all kinds of bashing but say something good or say your a Christian and you get put down. sighs Oh well.

Some might interpret the above as "bashing"...
