  1. hey so im joining the army and doing citizenship that way, the form asks for any trips outside the US in the last 5 years, but i have only been here as a perminant resident for a year and a half, so do i just go from the time i became a green card holder?

and also it asks for my wifes information, i use her married family name or her maiden name?

thanks for the help everyone, wouldnt normally ask such stupid questions but i leave for training tommorow so dont have the time to research.

  2. Hi, i got a conditional offer for a dollar general close to my house, only job around i could find, anyway i got a conditional offer pending a background check.

First there is now way to put in out of USA addresses that you have had for the past 5 years, anyone else had that issue?

and how long is it taking anyone else with a green card to get the background checks back? i have lived here now for about a year and a half.thanks for the help

  3. We filed for a fiance visa, took a year from filing to being together again, we got the green card a little while ago. we spent 6 months waiting for the nao2 for our case, we both checked the uscis website every day several times, it felt like every hour was a liefetime and each check with no change was a stab in the gut.

I would love to have some advice about how to make it easier but nothing helped us, but words of encouragment on here and each other kept us both strong to the end so keep strong, there is an end and once it comes its the very best feeling in the world.

good luck and i really hope you get through this process soon!

  4. i track my status online for my AOS status.

My case has gone to the DECISION step and it says:

On September 23, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision.

does this mean its been approved or whats going on with it?

    thanks for the help

  5. hey i was advised that getting a return flight was much cheaper than getting a one way flight, which it was.

i was also told to be very sure that i canceled the return part because it would mess with my AOS.

i just wanted to see if the bit about needing to cancel was true?

and if anyone knew if American Airlines charge for you canceling the return part of a 2 way flight?

I dont think my ticket is refundable, but it shouldnt cost me anything more right?

  6. hey were just about ready to send off the AOS packet and get started on that road, but have just checked the vaccine record i got from the medical for the K-1.

we were always told that just sending off the DS-3025 vaccination document worksheet thing we got from the k-1 medical would be all that was needed with regards to a medical as its valid for a year,

    hope all that makes sense?

anyway at the bottom where it says results i just noticed the 'incomplete' box is ticked with the sub catagory of 'may be elligable for blanket waiver because not medicaly appropriate'.

this is because i had chicken pox as a child and they dont offer this jab in the UK.

what are peoples experiences here? we shouldnt have an issue with this should we?

  7. hey any help and advice here would be great.

probably need a little background, we got married a month or so before her 18th birthday and were going to file the AOS after her birthday to cover the support requirments.

we got married about a month and a half ago but only just got my SSN through so we havent managed to set up a joint bank account yet and as her bank account was a teen account we couldnt even just add me to her account.

we also live with her parents so there isnt a tenancy agreement with both our names on.

anyone have any idea what we can send for evidence of our marriage?

we have photos, wedding ring reciepts, and iv had to sign a few things for her school as her guardian if that might help?

were just getting worried about a lack of evidence here......please give any ideas or advice, thanks

  8. hey we waited a few weeks to go and apply for the SS number like the guide suggests, then we got there to be told that im still not on the system and that they have to send off for manual verification, i got a letter saying id know one way or the other about getting my number within 4 weeks, that day passed yesterday and still nothing.

anyone else been in this situation? my i-94 expires in about 4 weeks now too, is there a cut off from where i cant get an SS number before the adjustment of status comes through (we only just sent that stuff off but really need to get me working once the EAD comes in)

  9. hey, first off please no comments with ur opinions on our situation....really not going to help.

anyway we got married about a week ago and my wife is 17 and im 21.

shes american and im just starting the adjustment of status from a k-1.

anyway we cant work out if gaurdianship passes over to me (her husband) as im 21 or if it stays wit her parents?

    any ideas?
