  1. Prior to June the fee was $131, perhaps officer was unaware of the change, OR beneficiary was not clear in stating for a K-1 visa, and was charged the fee for a visitors visa.

Right! That's what I was probably thinking as well. They probably thought it was still the old amount or a different kind of VISA. But regardless shouldn't we just be able to pay the rest of the amount with no problem? They have my fiancee's passport number so they can record the full paid amount of the K1 visa to her record..all they have to do is give us another receipt for the rest of amount so it will total out to $350.

  2. Why on Earth would a bank teller force a customer to only pay half of the amount they want to pay? What was their reasoning? Bring the receipt back, pay the remainder, get another receipt.

Exactly. They just assumed it was for that amount without asking what type of visa we have, which was infuriating. I asked my fiance to see if she can pay the rest of the amount and the manager told us that we can't because our fee has already been processed. He said that we pay the rest of the amount in the consulate. (He got this information by searching on the internet). So to be sure, I called the embassy myself and they advise me otherwise. They told me to pay the rest of the amount at the bank because they don't take payments inside the consulate. And without paying the full amount, she will not let be in inside the consulate at the time of her visa interview. So I will call my fiancee to go back to the bank and insist paying the rest of the amount and get another receipt. I just hope this is not going to hold back our process.

I will update again for the result.

    Thank you.

  3. My Fiancee went to our country's local bank (BPI) to pay the VISA fee. However, she was misinformed by the employee of the bank and made her pay only half of the $350. What do we do? Do I ask her to go to the bank and have her pay the difference of the $350. She did receive some kind of receipt for the amount that she paid. Can we pay the difference at the US Embassy in Manila? Please advise. :help:

    Thank You.

  4. Yas. I just recently sent copies of all the document to my fiancee. Just for peace of mind, I made sure I made 2-3 copies of all documents for back-up. If it happens to get lost in the mail, at least I can be sure that I got everything backed up. Photocopies are sufficient enough but for the divorce decree, make sure you bring a CERTIFIED copy. Make sure it has the appropriate stamp of the court/state and signature of the judge.

  5. Hmmm...that's weird! Maybe you should wait until tomorrow and see if you can book an interview appointment. If you can book an interview appointment, then maybe you won't have to pay the other half of the visa fee.

Does anyone even look at the amount on the BPI receipt? Does the amount you paid show up in your electonic file at the Embassy or at their call center? Maybe the Embassy only knows that you paid, but does not know the amount. Wouldn't that be something...you would receive a visa at Black Friday prices! :)

hahaha.. that would be great for a "Black Friday" prices, and I wouldn't even have to wait for a long line with a mad crowd dashing. The BPI receipt that my fiancee paid was for only 6500 peso which was only half of the 15000 something pesos that everyone is paying. I know this is not going to be overlooked, but I would like to fix this as soon as possible. I am not sure if we have to go to the branch and insist paying on the rest of the amount. Or wait till the visa interview and pay the rest at the US Embassy. I'm just frustrated at the BPI employee for giving the wrong information. It's a setback which I'm hoping is not going to give us problem.

  6. If your income is sufficient, it's best to leave the asset questions blank. If you need to claim assets, you'll need the home appraised and a mortgage statement showing the current mortgage balance.

Thank you for the sound advice. I think I'll just leave it blank. Now to support the income, do I need to include my pay stubs and tax income? would it be sufficient enough? I'm kinda wary including my bank statements.

    Cheers.

  7. August Filers are next up... a little more wait and NOA2 will be there knocking on your door. Now here's another question for the experts. How does one ask for an appointment interview after paying all the necessary fees. I read some posts that we contact the US Embassy in Manila and ask for an appointment, and then there are other suggestions that we do it online? Which is the correct method? Please assist. All help is welcome.:help:

    Cheers,

  8. Just to be safe and save time of an extra trip going to st. luke because of missing requirements, I would wait for the NVC letter or the appointment letter for your visa interview, in addition to the other documents needed for the medical like NOA2, passport and passport size photos.

  9. Thanks for the info, its going to be handy knowing now we finally got the NOA2

Good Luck Mal and Meg. Hope the process goes well and fast for you. The forum is indeed a treasure trove of informations. I just called NVC and they told me that they have forwarded my documents to Manila Embassy. I've got the MNL case number so I'm still trying to find out what to do next? Everyday seems to be like Christmas from this moment on. lol. The next step is to set up a medical exam for my fiancee. I need to read and ask guidance to anyone who had gone through their medical exams already.

    Cheers!

  10. Here's a quick question for those who have taken their medical exam already at St. Luke's Medical Center in Manila. Can my fiancee take her medical exam with only our NOA2, passport, and passport picture on hand? We haven't receive a notice yet that our file has been forwarded to the US Embassy in Manila, so I was just wondering if we can take only those requirements to the medical exam?

    Cheers,

    Bryan

  11. congratulations on the approval!

next thing to do is start preparing the docs that your fiancee will need to received from your end and your fiancee should do the same for the docs she will need to apply for her K1 visa . check out the "what to send" part here http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

check out the NVC.gov website as well if for updates on forms/fees etc

in the meantime, your papers will be sent to the USEM in manila (about 2wks) after which they will send your fiancee a letter saying that she can already apply for a visa which will require doing two things, setting up an interview appt and having a medical done.

for the interview, she'll be paying fees and filling out forms (under "forms" on the homepage) and to go with the forms are required documents which she should also prepare now (i.e. NBI, police clearance, passport cenomar, etc)

if you think you'll have all th requirements ready at a certain date/time frame, you can call the USEM hotline and get a schedule for an interview. whatever date you get, your fiance should then go for her medical (there's also a guide here for that) at least two weeks before the interview so that the results can be forwarded to the embassy and evaluated during her actual interview.

    good luck and god bless!

Thank you so much Zen Den for the detailed instruction. This will definitely help us out in the next stage of our application. Once I call the NVC and verified that packet has been forwarded to Manila Embassy, should I set up an appointment at St. Lukes Medical first or for the VISA interview? This step of the process is still kinda vague to me. Again, I appreciate every much of your help. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!.

  12. Hi guys. I just want to share the relief that we finally got our NOA2. It has been a long wait. So I am asking for any good advise and friendly suggestion as to what to do next after NOA2? Are there things that I can do to prepare earlier so that the rest of the process will be smoothn and quicker?

This forum and site has been a treasure of information. Thank you to all who contributed and shared their experiences to help those that are in need of guidance.

    Good luck to us all.

    Cheers,

    Bryenna
