I received BMB case number and IV invoice number via Email 2 weeks back. I have paid IV fees and now DS260 form got active as well but i am waiting for my father BMB number. I called NVC and they informed me that wait till 15march if you do not receive it by that time then email us.  They said they were waiting for some documents from USCIS before they send me email. According to them it was on last stage so I guess I should receive it any time soon.

Did you receive anything in snail mail? I have not received anything from NVC either by snail mail or email. Should I call or email them? It's been 6 weeks since USCIS sent them both files.

  2. An update: Both my parents' I-130 were approved on 1/5/19. I received an online notification that the case was sent to NVC on 1/16. I haven't received anything from NVC since. It appears that there are others on a similar timeline - has anyone received documents from the NVC with case number and invoices yet?

Also, referring back to the question raised (by me and others) about alternatives to birth certificates for Indian citizens... They will accept school certificates that specify date of birth.

  3. Hi folks

Better late than never... I filed an I-130 for both my parents. My PD is June 27, 2018 and processing is at the Texas Service Center. It's nice to have a community of people waiting in line lol

Also, my parents do not have birth certificates which is a common problem of people their age in India. Are there alternatives to birth certificates that will be accepted at the NVC stage?

    thanks

  4. Good luck to all upcoming interviews and oaths! Somehow I got denaturalized on the list (unredded, if I can make up such a word). Thank god that can't happen in real life :)

I got a passport in one day at the SF passport agency and was also able to pick up my naturalization certificate in person when I went to get my passport. For anyone living near a city that has a passport agency, I highly recommend using them rather than any other method of applying for a passport. You won't have to worry about having no proof of citizenship for the time you spend waiting for your passport or certificate to come back by mail.

  5. Hi Indomex!

How did it work out? Did they let you in with just your green card? I am in the same boat. Letter was mailed 11 days ago according to online status and the next LA Oath ceremony is Sept 27th. I don't know where or what time.

I have made an infopass appointment bu tthe next available one is Sept 23rd. Evertime i call USCIS Customer service they will not pit me through to a second tier officer. How did you get through?!

    i am very worried.

Please give me any insights. All the best.

I had no problems. They just made me fill out the oath letter questions when I arrived. And they are not allowed to deny you access to a Tier 2 officer on the phone if you insist on speaking to one. You have to do this of course because otherwise you will not know when and where your ceremony is. Good luck!

  6. it's been 8 days since my on-line status changed to...

"On August 19, 2013, we scheduled you for your oath ceremony and sent a notice providing the date, time, and location. If you move prior to the scheduled ceremony, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."

... and still no letter. what gives?

You should call and ask to talk to a Tier 2 officer. They will give your time and location for oath over the phone. I had to do the same thing since my oath letter for lost.

  7. Thank you claudiaarroyo49!!! In Sacramento, there were 1246 new US Citizens for the oath ceremony. We were offered the opportunity to update our Social Security Status on site, and register for vote at the same time.

On Friday, I went to San Francisco and got my brand new US passport (with 52 pages) same day, for an extra fee of $60. It was worth it!!!!!!!! I am happy I am done with that. Congrats to caraqueno! and good luck for the rest.idea9dv.gifgood.gif

    Riro, congratulations!

Did they ask for proof of upcoming travel in less than 2 weeks at the SF passport agency to issue your same day passport? Or did they not care about that?

  8. Hi,

This is what I brought to my oath ceremony: Notice of receipt acceptance, fingerprint notice, interview schedule notice, recommended for approval letter, passport and my green card. All I was asked for was my greencard. By tthe way, don't worry too much about the oath letter. I did not have it with me because my field office called me up to schedule me 3 days before the actual ceremony, so sending out an oath letter would of cut it too close. They just handed it over to me at the ceremony itself and I filled out the part on the back where they ask about any trips after the interview, or arrests and stuff.

Thanks so much. This is very helpful to me

  9. Nimaan and HappyDancer. My online status changed 9 days ago to "we scheduled your oath and sent you a notice..." But I never received the notice. So, I called USCIS and the Tier 2 officer confirmed that the oath letter was mailed out on Aug 8. USPS has always delivered my USCIS notices within 3 working days of the mailing date. So, I am guessing that since a lot more time than 3 working days have passed, USPS has lost my oath letter. It may yet arrive but I'd be surprised if it did.

Fortunately, USCIS gave me my oath time and location over the phone. She told me to arrive an hour early (8:15 AM) so I can fill out the N-445 form and surrender my green card.

It's funny that the notoriously unreliable online case status actually worked and saved me this time. Otherwise, I may have just sat back and missed my oath ceremony.

Thank you Jamericanlove for updating :)

  10. Thanks Jamerican and iamwhatiam

So, I did call and the Tier2 officer gave me my oath location and date! She also said that I can show up without the notice and with my green card and they will take care of it at the venue.

Advise for others: If it's more than a week since your online update that you've been scheduled and haven't received a letter, call USCIS and ask for a Tier 2 officer. The Tier 1 misinformation people will try to tell you that you need to wait 30 days for the letter. If you do that you will definitely miss your ceremony!

  11. My online status updated to "we scheduled you for your oath ceremony and sent a notice..." 9 days ago. I still have not received this notice in the mail.

For every other notice I have ever received from USCIS, the time lag between an online update saying they have mailed a notice to my receiving it has never been more than 4 days even when a weekend has come in between.

Has anyone else experienced such a long time lag between an online update that confirmed oath had been scheduled and receiving the letter? I am afraid I am going to miss my ceremony because USPS has lost my letter.

For what its worth, my local office is San Francisco.

  12. My online status updated to "we scheduled you for your oath ceremony..." a week ago. I still have not received the notice in the mail.

Have other SF office people seen significant time gaps between online update and receiving the oath letter? One reason could be that they don't actually mail out the letter on the day that the online status updates but do so in batches on specific days. So, I'd like to know of others' experience with this office.

I know it hasn't been that long but the only reason I am already wondering if I should call them is because it appears as if people frequently receive their oath letters just a few days prior to their ceremony. So, any USPS screw up can easily cause me to miss my ceremony if I just sit back.

  13. WOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay NYC! Good to see that they seem to schedule oaths fast, after that awful, awful wait for an interview.

Congrats to dramaqueen81 and andry_bronx! Thanks so much for your updates, it really helps people like me not to freak out over the wait... apparently the longest in the country.

Good luck to you Otta! Maybe NY is finally picking up some speed!

  14. Getting there...

    Testing and Interview

On August 6, 2013, your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was scheduled for interview. You will receive a notice with a time and place for your interview. If you have not received the notice within 30 days of the date the notice is mailed, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance.

    Congrats Nimaan! Go Atlanta go...

  15. here is what mine on-line status says:

    Oath Ceremony

On June 14, 2013, we placed your application in the oath scheduling que. We will send a notice when the ceremony is scheduled. If you move prior to the scheduled ceremony, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Naturalization Applicants: you will receive your certificate at your oath ceremony. You can expect to be scheduled for an oath ceremony within 45 days of receiving your recommended approval. Many offices schedule approved applicants for the oath ceremony on the same day as the day of the interview. Please check the local office profile page on our website to determine if the office where you will be interviewed schedules same day oath ceremonies.

You are well past 45 days. Call them.

  16. My wife and I arrived for the interview about 35 minutes before schedule in the morning. The guard at the door was very friendly and wished me the best of luck in my interview. Once we went through airport style security we were directed to the second floor even though my interview notice said that I should report to the first floor. I went to the reception area on the second floor and handed them the appointment letter.

The receptionist took my notice, found my name on a roster, checked it, kept the appointment notice and handed me a large grey envelope which contained a passport application form! It also contained a letter informing me of where the Oath ceremonies for the SF office applicants are held (Paramount Theater in Oakland for those who care to know) and additional information on how the scheduling occurs. When I got this in hand, I couldn't help but think that I was somehow pre-screened and a shoo-in to be approved. But I looked around and noticed that most others also had this packet - so much for feeling special . But it is weird that the hand this stuff out before you are approved.

We then waited for about 20 minutes or so before I got called in. My IO was courteous, nice but not overly, very professional lady. After swearing me in, she asked me to take out my passports, GC and DL and nothing else. In fact, she told me completely clear the desk of my packet and place it all on the chair next to me. She asked me if I had any questions on the application and I brought up that I was not sure if I was supposed to list my adult stepdaughter on Part 9. She said yes and asked me for her details.

Then, everything moved at warp speed. She mixed all parts of the interview - going over the form, civics test and english test. She DID NOT go through every question on the N400 form like everyone else has reported here. In the middle of going through the form she fired off 3 questions from the Civics test. I can't remember what they were but I answered them correctly. Then she continued with the form, suddenly asked me to write a sentence on a piece of paper (English test). As soon as I finished that, she asked me to sign at a number of places on the form and another document. She then handed me the recommended for approval notice and said I passed.

Then she mentioned that I will probably make the September ceremony and asked if any dates don't work for me. I said I was going to Barcelona in November but nothing other than that. She commented that was a nice place to go. And finally, just as I was picking up my things and getting ready to leave, she asked "Are there any jobs that you do that are only meant for citizens?" I work for a federal facility so it was a legit question. I said no and elaborated why I don't do any jobs that are meant for citizens. And out I went…

There you have it. Pretty straightforward apart from that well laid trap question at the end. I negotiated that alright - a little taken aback but gave the right answer in a longwinded way.

I have some questions for those who passed their interview and received an oath letter.

    1) What does "recommended for approval" mean? How does that turn to "approved"? And how long does that take?

    2) Did anyone receive an approval letter or did you just receive the oath letter?

Thanks to all of you - my virtual support group! Good luck to all who are still waiting.
