The Mister and I just sent in our AOS application (25/26), so we probably will not hear back until early November. Would this mean that we are October or November filers? Best wishes to you all!!!
We'll let you into the exclusive October club. But only if you promise to update your timeline.

Go here and make an appointment:

Very good to hear!!! I am not a fan of this waiting and not knowing either :S
Inconceivable !!! Waiting and not knowing is my third most favorite hobby!

Did our scheduled Biometrics today at the Fairfax ASC just 5 minutes from our place.
The place was empty so there was no wait, in and out in no time.
Too bad the visit to the Japan consulate in the morning wasn't so easy. We walked in during a fire drill and had to wait almost an hour. The icing on the cake? Parking is over $4 for each 10 minutes there.

I visited my fiancee in Tokyo numerous times while our 129F was pending. Heck, I event attended the interview and got called to answer some questions. I went back again and we did the POE together in the Citizen/permanent residents line.
So there shouldn't be any problems.

I didn't take any days off since I didn't have many vacation days left.
I had taken a trip to Tokyo to join her for the K-1 visa interview and went back again to pick her up.
I had visited Tokyo 10 times in a little over 2 years, so all my vacation days were gone. We figured we'd be in the US enough after she came over and wanted our vacations in Japan.

she wont get deported when the visa expires will she??
No one will get deported. And there is no visa to get expired, the K-1 visa is irrelevant at this time. Some people file months, even years after the I-94 expires, and they are fine as long as they don't leave the country.

about a month between the letter and the interview
Excellent. Thank you!

Biometrics Aug 24th, interview Oct 24th.
Thank yo for your reply. But that is something I can see from your timeline. What I wanted to find out was how much notice is given between the appointment notice/letter and interview.
-
4 hour drive??
I feel bad for admitting it, but our ASC for biometrics is a 6 minute drive from our place!

I am an October filer! Very eager to receive my EAD asap. Has anyone looked at timelines and seen how long this takes around this time of year?
Well, based on your timeline:
Based on timeline data, your EAD may be adjudicated between December 16, 2011 and December 25, 2011*. -
My husband and I are going to get our AOS filed either today or tomorrow.
So I guess we're in this group.
Good luck! I remember you from the K1 days!
-
Thank you all for your replies.
Although the timeline data on this site provides information regarding the duration from biometrics to interview, it's great to get some samples regarding how much notice is given between the appointment notice and interview.

Recently I booked a couple tickets to visit my wife's family. The trouble is that I just realized that our trip is exactly two months after the biometrics appointment.
Now I'm worried that there is a chance that the appointment might be scheduled during our trip.
So I am trying to get a sample of dates to see how much notice is given between the appointment notice and interview? I know the dates will vary greatly but it'd be great to get a rough estimate to know how long it took from getting the appointment notice to the actual interview.

oh wow, we've crossed paths again, Yagisama LOL
i just sent mine and was received 2 days ago by USCIS
Haha we meet again!!
Good luck to us all for a quick and easy AOS process!
I'm not usually a gambling man but I just booked two tickets for New Year to visit my wife's family in Tokyo so I have my fingers crossed that the AP will complete soon!
-
As far as using AP while out of status, the following applies. If you didn't accumulate at least 180 days of unlawful presence then you will be OK with an AP. There will be no difference between overstaying 1 day and 179 days. After 180 days, its an entirely different story.

I have my US driver license. Can I use that to come back to US If I go to PR?
Officially a driver's license is allowed for US Citizens. I wouldn't take the chance in any other situation.
Customs and Immigration
There are no passports or visas necessary for United States citizens, which mean that US citizens can travel freely in and out of the island without going through immigration or customs. US citizens only need to have some form of official government issued picture identification to enter Puerto Rico such as a current driver's license or a photo-identification card issued to non-drivers by a state's motor vehicles department. For additional information, contact your local U.S. embassy. or call the Puerto Rico State Department at (787) 722-2121. Citizens of other countries have the same requirements as for entering the USA. Potential visitors must first obtain a visa, either a non-immigrant visa for temporary stay or an immigrant visa for permanent residence. The 90-day "visitor" visa is a non-immigrant visa to enter the United States temporarily. Those planning to travel to Puerto Rico for a different purpose, such as study or temporary work, must apply for specialized visas (either an M-1 or F-1 class). A visa is not a guarantee of entry into Puerto Rico. The bearer of a visa is subject to inspection at the port of entry by U.S. Department of Homeland Security officials who have authority to deny admission (Homeland Security Advisor, La Fortaleza, P.O. Box 9020082, San Juan, PR 00902-0082 - 787-977-7730 / 7731).

Use your passport. Also, I've traveled with an expired Driver's license before. I had my passport as a backup but they didn't need it.
-
Hawaii should be ok right?
Of course. Traveling inside the united states is OK.
