  1. Leave tomorrow for our first trip to Mexico since Marco received his green card! A little nervous about the process, but I am sure it will go smoothly.

  2. Received notice of "Card/Document Production" yesterday! Green Card on its way!

  3. Hey there! I took a cab there and back. It was a little pricier, but a lot less trouble and probably safer. I put in my review the name and number of the cab driver that I used, and I would recommend calling him to make arrangements. He is a known quantity and is probably safer than just going with a random driver.

  4. Marco got his drivers license in the mail last night-how fun is that!

  5. Bought my wedding dress, Save-the-Date cards have been sent, move into our new place on the 3rd, and my fiance arrives on the 4th-what a busy month!

Yay!! You're so lucky!! Hey, I have a quick question for ya- did you have to be present at your fiancé's visa interview?

No, they would not let me into the consulate or even ask my fiance if I was in town. But, it seems like for some people they asked them if it was possible for their fiance to come in for an interview as well (but they were able to deflect the questions if it was really financially not feasible for them to do so).

  6. Thanks! We are so happy :) He will come in early December! When is your wedding? Congratulations on finding a dress!

  7. Starting to get a jump on the AOS documents (vaccination requirements, SSN info, researching my name change, etc.). This should not be too bad now that the pressure is off :)

I am hoping that in Texas it won't be an issue :)! Have you been looking into vaccinations at all? I want to be sure that all that is required is the Td/Tdap, MMR, and Varicella, but I am not sure. I think I found some civil surgeons in my area that will transcribe the records for $25-$50, but I want him to get the shots before he comes because I am sure they will be cheaper in Mexico.

I haven't called any of the civil surgeons yet. There is only one close to me, so I am thinking I may have to pay full price to get the I-693 done. He is trying to check around and see if he can get his vaccinations transcribed in English before he leaves. Also, might see if he can check private hospitals for the Tdap, since they did not seem to have that one at the free clinics.

By full price I hope you don't mean that you will pay for another physical! Did you check the "Civil Surgeons who Won't Rip You Off" board to see if there is anyone in your area? I think I am just going to have someone here translate the vaccination records and then have it notarized, and give that to the doctor to transcribe (but around here there is a good chance they will speak Spanish anyway).

He is at his interview right now (eek)! Everything went well with his medical yesterday, and we feel fairly safe here (we are staying inside-I stand out sooo much here in Juarez). I will update as soon as I know anything!!!

  11. Best of luck to you guys as well!!! I know everything is going to work out perfectly :) I can't wait to touch base and hear about everything-I will try to update as soon as we know anything!

  12. Our interview invitation letter just arrived (cutting it a bit close)! :)

  13. I am feeling so many different things right now! So excited to see my fiance (it has been so long), terrified to have to spend a week in Juarez, and nervous about the visa! My friends and family are all so scared for us to have to go there, but I just want to be with him-even if it is in a war zone. How are you doing??? You must be so excited and nervous too?! I want to hear all a...

  14. Thanks! It should be next Tuesday (I will keep everyone on VJ posted). Eek!

  15. I will leave on Saturday to drive and arrive there on Sunday afternoon (I will take a cab from El Paso). I am so nervous/excited-we have not seen each other in four months!

  16. Yeah, I am doing the last-minute paperwork and travel-booking thing too. I think my fiance is buying his bus ticket today. I am pretty relaxed about the actual visa, it is the travel logistics and time in Juarez that makes me nervous! haha I guess it is always something. We are on the same timeline exactly. I might PM you with some last-minute questions over the weekend :).

  17. I found out today that they mailed our letter on the 1st of September, so I was able to book our hotel finally. How are you guys doing? My fiance is so, so nervous. I will be glad when this is over and he can relax!

  18. Awesome! I called them today and they said that they mailed ours on the 1st of September (whew!). I hope we receive it before the 19th, but if not, at least we can just pick it up at the consulate before the medical exam. I hope things are going well for you! My poor fiance is a nervous wreck :).

  19. Thank you so much for the well-wishes! All the best to you and yours as well!!!

  20. Just talked to the consulate, and our interview invitation letter was mailed on September 1st, so we are clear for our interview! Whew!

  21. We will arrive in Juarez on the 19th, do the medical exam on the 20th, and then do the interview on the 21st. It can take a few days to get the actual visa after the interview, so we are planning on staying there until Friday. You have to get there very early to wait in line, so we will probably arrive at the consulate by 5am, and the process will probably take all day (not very efficient) :).

  22. I received an email from the consulate today (I sent an inquiry a few weeks ago) saying that they would send our letter within a week or two. Eek! We are really cutting it close if we are going to go on the 19th! I hope the hotel prices don't go up too much by then. I don't want to book a room until I know the letter has been sent... Have you received your letter yet?

  23. Thanks! I hope they mail it in time!!! I received an email from the consulate today saying that they would mail the letter in one or two weeks. If they do, then we will be fine, we will just probably have to go pick it up on our first day there. Thanks again for the information! I will probably pester you some more as our interview gets closer :)!

  24. Hi there! I saw that you posted on Keka's wall that it took you two months to get your letter from the consulate. Do you mean two months for them to send it, or two months for you to receive it? I am just a little nervous because we are hoping to go to Juarez on the 19th, but the consulate had not sent our letter as of last week :) As long as they have sent it by then, we will be ok...
