  1. Hey,

It is Wednesday, February 16th 2011, 2 days after Valentine's Day and what did you do? Did you do something fun, special or memorable (even though the Sweethearts are half way around the world) OR maybe you have a particular Valentine's Day that you would care to share with the fellow Ameriturks? Also, Welcome to all of the New Ameriturks here on VJ! (L) (L) (L)

And to my Hubby "I LOVE YOU"! (F)

  2. thank u for your response ...

luckywife i will start a topic on forum u will see it now i am hungry i need to eat kebab

    thank u again

    Melek&Baris

    I agree with you melbar,

It is good to show that you are supporting one another in every aspect and that includes financially, after all you are married.....

If you were filing a K1 then I would use some discreation perhaps. As far as your answer to the CO, you just simply answer the truth, that you are supporting one another and my thought is and always has been that their is no "My Money and "His/Her Money". The truth is always the best policy, and they will see this at the interview!

  3. Here's the situation, and thanks in advance to any KNOWLEDGABLE comments and advice.

I'm a U.S. citizen, born to immigrant U.S. citizens. I have dual citizenship and had spent 4 of the past 10 years working in Istanbul, Turkey. I returned to the U.S. a year ago.

3 Months ago, my girlfriend from Turkey visited for a trip here to see me and improve her english, a requirement for

her work as an air-stewerdess. A month after she got here, we decided to get married. I asked around, law firms

specializing in these issues mainly, and they said it would be ok.

By the way, my wife was here on a tourist visa but I'm not exactly sure which one. I can find out. It allows her to

stay here for up to 6 months.

My question is this: Would our applying for a green card without a lawyer be a mistake and come to be something we

regret. Some people have adamently insisted that I hire a lawyer for this process. Do I really need to? Are there any particulars in the history I've stated above that would suggest a lawyer should be consulted?

    Thank You,

    Levaant

    Welcome SpaceBaklava,

In my opinion (and several other VJ Members) You do not need a lawyer unless you have some issues that may cause concern and therefore may require the assistance of an Attorney.

I suggest you read the guides here and decide which process will better fit you and your Wife. We have done everything ourselves (DCF) and we had a lot of guidance from this site as well as

as help from several of the Members here on Visa Journey. Here is a link from the Embassy's Website (Ankara) for the DCF process. http://turkey.usemba...nstructions.pdf

and if you should choose to file from the USA, as I stated above, those can be found here on VJ.

    Good Luck!

  4. thank u so much andz for your response now i understand how much money they realy get ....thank u again

and also about western union papers my wife uscitizen sent me alot money with wester union is that bad for me to bring?i only sent money to my wife 3 times but my wife sent me alot(to pay for hotels, tickets, rentcars, buying gold,or staff like that,,)

    melbar,

I have to disagree with the post above that states do not take Western Union receipts..... it shows that you were supporting her and she was helping you out... read on VJ what others say about money being sent Western Union. It is up to you...... Good Luck and let us know how everyting goes.

    Also,

    To get more answers/posts

Start this topic of "Western Union" in your forum CR1/IR1 and you will see as well!

  5. melbar,

Here is the link to the Dr's in Ankara... www.doctorun.com

I believe that you can call them at the number provided to set up the appointment and also what the approximate costs will be involved with the visit, (I am sure that they can't give you an exact amount) and I do not believe that it will cost anywhere NEAR $2-3000.00 which is a relief!

    Next,

I think that your Mountain of evidence is good proving that your marriage is real... maybe her or your family can write affidavits that declare that they have knowledge of your Marriage and that it is real and how they know this,

Just something extra if you have time! An example can be found here on VJ!

Any Cards that you sent to one another and IF either one of you have anything that shows BOTH of your names such as bills, reciepts or other documents, invoices etc.

You will need to take the Medical Report with you as well that the Dr will provide to you in a sealed envelope... DO NOT OPEN IT, they will at the Interview.

It would be a good idea for you and your wife to read and re-read what you need to take to your interview and that can be found on the Ankara website... here is a link that will be very helpful... read and follow the instructions very carefully! :guides:

    http://turkey.usembassy.gov/media/pdfs/iv_instructions_101510.pdf

    ALSO,

I have read from several previous VJ memebers that have attended their interview that you will need some extra photos of you for sure and it may be a good idea to take some of your Wife as well (just to be safe!)

The ones that I am referring to are like the litle ones that you sent in with the original packet. It also shows this on the link that I posted above.

I can't think of anything else at the moment BUT it may help if you posted this same question in the CR1/IR1 forum here on VJ.... there are lots of qualified and helpful folks that may add to what I have suggested.

Good Luck and update your timeline as well and then by doing so that will show your upcoming interview date on the Turkish Portal just like this....... melbar..... 2011-02-22 - IR-1/CR-1 Visa

  6. My husband's visa (IR-1) is currenlty in administrative processing....so far it's been 4 months. He has a valid tourist visa and I was wondering if he can come to the US on that for a couple of months while we wait for the process to be completed.

Does anyone know if this is permissable?

    Thanks :)

I see from your timeline that he had an interview back in 2009 and was in AP then and then was out of AP on 1/12/09 and visa approved 01/16/09 but wasn't issued as he couldn't leave in the 6 months that is required to exit the country. Why was he in AP then, and why now again?

Regarding your question, I have heard of Beneficiarys being allowed to enter the USA on a Tourist Visa as long as they show strong ties to their country BUT I have also heard the opposite and they had to turn around and go back! I don't see why if someone is in the process of an Immigrant Visa, why they would take a "chance" and stay in the US and abandon all of the hard work and money that has been put forth and why the "powers to be" doesn't take this into consideration!!! :bonk: Yet again, we are dealing with the Government here! :hehe:

Good Luck which ever road you may take!

  7. They could be doing any number of things in finishing the interview. Maybe your security checks aren't done, maybe they are validating some documents, maybe they are doing a field interview. It is a general title for "more stuff"

Why can't they get this all done and over with before they schedule the Interview for goodness sake? Why?????

  8. Hello Ameriturks,

Just bought my ticket tonight,I will be leaving April 1st -April 18th.for Turkey. It will be exactly one year in April that I didn't see my husband and my mom.I can hardly wait!!!Miss both of them very much. Hopefully,TSC approves my petition this month so I can bring Ceyhun back with me. everybody pray for me...and TSC, HURRY UP AND APPROVE MY PETITION!!!!BEFORE I LEAVE FOR TURKEY!!!

I hope that this happens for you, and I am glad to see that you are going to see the Hunny and the Mommy... you have been apart far too long!:crying:

  9. I don't know why I can't edit my posts! Techno challenged I guess... :ot2:

Timbo: Age is not against the law. Listen here "old man" lol, when a Filipina loves, she loves deeply. She doesn't "see age". She sees nothing but "heart" (L) +(L) =

At least that's how I see My Sweetheart!!

So don't get all "Crinkly" on us  ... lol, you're young in spirit!! She's mature in heart. You love who you love... it's real and it's gonna be alright!

    Mari

    AMEN to this!:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

  10. I am very happy you made this comment. I read a post yesterday and it seems the couple may have been denied the visa because of the age difference. I have been very worried about this. There is not a dramatic age difference between my fiance and I but still I was concerned. But it is great to see people stating that they have received visas even with their age differences and I think it is great that people are making positive posts here concerning that issue. My personal stance is that age is a number, the maturity of a person, what they feel in their heart and the way the two people interact with each other is what is really important. AGE means nothing. Thanks for your post!

  11. our interview was yesterday and I was in attendance. we had all the standard proof of a relationship e.g. chat logs phone records text logs letters from family and friends. He was interviewed by a woman in english and then given the same questions by a man in arabic. he answered consistently and truthfully for over an hour. I was then interviewed by the same man for about an hour. We were given no specific reasons for denial just the usual "appears to be for immigration purposes" statement. i'm fairly sure that they did not like the fact that I had met him in may 2009 and went to see him in december 2009. the man said " that was quick!!" they also did no tlike our 15 year age difference. that's all i can think that it would be since we co,pared our answers to their questions afterwards and we gave the same;

so, i have tried contacting my senator, no response yet; what about getting in touch aith an attorney, and how do I find a good one?

I am sorry too hear of this BUT DO NOT give up! Did or WILL they give you an official notification stating exactly why this decision was made? Are you or your Husband the older party? I have read on several posts that age difference can be overlooked if they can see that the relationship is true and they have a lot of proof.... I dont see how the Government can decide for a couple based on their age.... FGS!

Good Luck and like I said DO NOT GIVE UP!

  12. That is great... and it sounds like you will be able to enjoy Filipino Cuisine as well.... and Tea here in Turkey, my opinion is, that it is better than the tea in the USA or maybe I haven't found the right blend where I was shopping. I will take some Turkish Tea with me when we leave here. I have a great Turkish Teapot and it is sitting on my Stove-top waiting for us!!!:dance::dance::dance:

When is your interview and will you two be attending the "gathering" together?
