  4. What does your marriage have to do with his birth certificate?

In Turkey, if you are married, it is reflected on one's Birth Certificate... since we were NOT married there, (as I mentioned before) we were married HERE in the US and when we had our interview, they require that our marriage be on his birth certificate. I was simply asking if anyone has any info on how to get this done here in the US.

a little too late for that

What do you mean "its a little too late for that?

  5. Hello,

My Husband and I were married in Las Vegas and returned to Turkey and had our interview in March of this year. They gave us AP and said that we need to have our marriage registered in Turkey so it will show on my Husband's Birth Certificate. I have tried to contact the Turkish Embassy both is Los Angeles and New York and have had NO luck. Has anyone else had this experience or know first hand how I would go about getting our US marriage registered and how long it takes before it would show on Hubby's Birth Certificate? HELP :help::help::help::help:

    Thank you!

  6. Hi everyone! Sorry I was away, Bulut had his interview and WE WERE APPROVED!! I was just too nervous to come on here a fw days b4 everything because then I would start to worry about what we sent and what we didn't send and AP and a whole slew of other things we had no control over. So now you can tell I'm the woman that worried about everything. I could take an HIV test and come back negative, turn around and take another one 5 minutes later and still worry about the results. I put an embassy report up if anyone wants to know what happened (not much, as it was only 5 minutes).

Tolsab, I'm so hungry now! That is the perfect kahvalti and makes me home sick even more. I really miss peynir, tereyagi and ekmek and I'm all good.

OMG.... Congrats You two! I am so happy for you guys... finally! And now your almost done..... what a good feeling that must be! We are still waiting to get through AP..... what a nightmare, this is horrible but what to do but wait.... I miss my Hunny Bunny so much!

We will be done with this process soon and then it will be my turn to post a positive word!:lol:

  7. Hello Ameriturks!

I haven't been on here in quite awhile and I miss it actually. We are still waiting in AP :( and the time seems to be dragging on!

Sounds like several of the Turks are in America and doing well! I am looking forward to all of us getting together for a real "shindig". Good Luck to everyone who have upcoming interviews and CONGRATS to everyone who is past that lovely stage.

    P.S.

    EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT 4TH of JULY!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D

    Fatih and Kelly

  8. We got our interview date for July 12th, but I am reading contradictory info for it. Some say that I go with my husband, some say I dont go with him. Has anyone in Turkey joined their spouse for the interview? Apparently this is something new since last summer, but have no idea...

If you are doing DCF, it is mandatory that you as the US Spouse attend that interview with him. Didn't they state this in the email that they sent you notifying you of your interview. You DO NOT need permission in this instance.:no::no::no:

  9. Hey guys,

I m at home now i got my visa hahaha i saw it with my own eyes so i believed i got my visa..

Iam praying to all of you to get ur visas and being together soon with ur loved one..

there is a thing the embassy sent all papers to us back that we sent uscis and also nvc (plus my visa)the thing is there is a warning saying that do not open the yellow envelope damn!! its already has been cut off the left side of the corner and its already open the yellow packages have our papers that went to uscis and nvc then there is another yellow envelope inside this big huge yellow envelepo i m so lost then i called to the ups office what happened the yellow envelope is already opened they told me we never allowed to open any packages that we got from the embassy its the way its when we get it from the embassy so i think it might having a damage when they were about to delivered it or dropped the package thats made me worry i think i m going to call to the embassy and let them know or what to do ?

I believe that you are just fine so DO NOT STRESS yourself! The Yellow envelope inside the other Yellow envelope is what you need to be concerned with and that is not to be opened as that is what the Officer at the POE will open when you enter the States. If it will make you feel better than yes call the consulate on Monday!

  10. Hello guys,

I was checking the UPS track number that they gave me anyways i put my track number on the web site so it was saying ur package taken from the consulate by UPS driver then it was on the road then i also got a text msg after few mins that i will have my package tomorrow.

OMG i hope my visa in it..I hope this is over to wait for my wife to be together

    Yes,

This means EXACTLY that.... your visa will arrive very very soon and you and your Wife's wait are FINALLY over! I hope that we will have some news soon!

    Congratulations KD and Family!

    From our hearts to yours,

    Mari and Kadir

PS: Now, just because you got approved, that does not mean you get to ditch us here on the AmeriTurk Thread! It means keep us updated so we know how to proceed. I think our prayers were answered! Yeah!!!! That's 2 AmeriTurks this week and the interviews were less than 10 mins and EASY- PEASY! Good!

    OH yeah and KD,

I forgot to ask you which hotel you recommend near the Embassy? Somebody else asking whose interview is approaching quickly!! HELP!!!

    Mari

    Melbar,

Thank you for your reply and good luck!

  16. I have a question regarding contacting my Senator/Congressman. As the US Citizen, am I one that provides the information or is it info on my Hubby, the Beneficiary. I have found the forms and want to be ready once I proceed with contacting them. Also, is there a certain time frame that we must wait before I contact them? We had our interview in March of this year and was placed in AP.

Thank you in advance for any and all replies.

  18. Which would be easier? Getting married in Turkey or the U.S.?

In My opinion, it is easier to get married in the USA, BUT if your boyfriend is not able to obtain a tourist visa then you would have to get married in Turkey which would be just fine... would take a little longer BUT that's what you may have to do if you don't decide to go the K-1 route~ If you were able to go to Turkey and live for a short time and get your permanent resident permit after 6 months of residing there you could do the DCF which normally takes 3 months or you can marry there in Turkey go back to the states and do the CR1/IR1 process from there.

Either way you will be fine and good luck!!!

  19. KD, Melbar, Kelly or Nihal,

What official documents did you have to get translated? The police and military reports, marriage and birth certificates? Any others?

    see post #408

Per the DCF instructions, if documents were in English OR Turkish no translation needed. HOWEVER, I believe that if you are filing from the states if anything NOT in ENGLISH has to be translated by an official translator.

    Hope this helps!

    Kelly

  20. Oh Kelly... I'm sorry hun. That doesn't seem like they were fair to you at all. The last 15 mins and rushed because fatso had to eat? C'mon! If the marriage had to be registered in Turkey (for DCF), why doesn't the Embassy place that in their instructions in the first place! If that had been the case, and you two are meticulous about paperwork btw, then that CO wouldn't have a thing to say. Absolutely it is frustrating I am sure.

Hugs sister, it's going to be OK.:luv:

    Love you two!

    Mari

    Mari,

Hope all is well with you and your sweetheart! Thank you for your kind reply.... I guess I don't know what else to say, am in shock and I had 1 nerve, yes 1 and they stepped on it that day at the Embassy..... I am frazzled, I really thought that all was ok and we would be ready to go, well I guess I learned my lesson!

    Me~
