Married!!! That was the easiest part so far!

Just got off the phone with 703# and they say VISA IS READY FOR PICKUP!!!!!! We even have a tracking number!!! Oh. My. God. If I'm not back on VJ for a couple days its cuz I'm driving my Mexican across the border through TX and AZ. THIS is the scary part.

CASI!!!!! Robe went to the consulate this morning super early. They made him wait in the information line and get a pass to enter the consulate. Once inside he waited in another line to enter and they gave him a number and he waited some more. Almost 4 hours later he was called up to one of the windows, they found his file and confirmed that his fingerprints were not in there. They had him put one finger on a digital reader, took both his blue papers that he's bee...

Well the hotel started out costing $45 a nite with a promo code I had and for some weird coincidence they raised their rates on the weekends and then the weekdays too little by little as we've been here. Now we're paying $75 a nite (WITH my discount still)on this 16th nite. I don't want to do the math... we've spent money that we don't have and we'll just have to work it out when we get back- what else can we do??! Physically we're just fine but th...

I wasn't able to create a personal album but if you click on my "photos" you can see some pictures we took as we were driving by the consulate.

Robe arrived 7am for his interview scheduled at 8:15. They let him into the consulate area where you are not permitted to bring anything with you including food, water or phone. Then they made him wait until just before 5pm, he was the last person called, almost 10 hours later. His interview was brief and it turned out that we had everything they needed. Then they tell him his fingerprint results were not showing up on their computer and wanted to know if he had gone to an ASC appointment...

This site changed a lot over the weekend. Seems easier now but where's the ASC locations and phone numbers? http://mexico.usvisa-info.com/en-MX/selfservice/us_before_you_apply

Crossed on Thursday evening and we're all here in the USA!!!!!! Still making our way across the desert, we'll write a full review once we arrive HOME.

The good ol folks at 703# today said it may be another 2-3 weeks. They explained that when you go back to the consulate it's like you start the countdown over and each time it can be up to 3 weeks. Mind you, we've already been here 2 and a half weeks.

In Cuidad Juarez, so far so good. We'll find out tomorrow what's going on with this ASC.

AND they scheduled the interview for the following day for us, I also assumed they would want more days in between but as I said they were scheduled together and I thought they new what they were doing. I think they learned to allow 48 hours AFTER this past week of getting things all messed up. No packet at DHL today so we'll send Robe to the crazy line in the morning to ask for information.
-
P.S. I noticed on the homepage today http://mexico.usvisa-info.com/en-MX/selfservice/ss_country_welcome
that there was a statement re: people having issues getting their docs, so you may want to follow instructions to avoid more delay..

We waited 4 weeks instead of two to file fot the social security number to make sure Robe was in the system. The whole appointment went really well until the end when she ran his name and it wasn't in the system. She says we'll need to run a manual verification and we will be notified by mail when it goes through. When I asked her roughly how long it would take she said I. have. no. idea. like it was a totally ridiculous question. Here we go again.

Here's another story that happened to someone that went with Robe to check DHL at the same time: He had been coming for days asking the same lady for his papers and she kept saying they had not arrived. Today they got in an argument and he told the lady he didn't think she was doing her job and could he please speak to someone else. Another employee checked and found that his papers had been there for three days.

WE DID IT!!!!! GREEN CARD APPROVED!!!! Thank you everyone for your help and support, we COULD NOT have done it without you!!! Eternal gratitude from our family to yours

Today I was told that our packet 3 was sent out March 10!!!! They told me we have to wait until it arrives in the mail and follow the instructions. Part of me wants to follow instructions and part of me wants to tell him to just take the chance and go there and see what happens...... Jejeje

The guy at DHL just now said it'll probably be 5 more days. And why don't we have a waybill number like everyone else? This is so depressing.
-
Medical exam went well. They accepted a scanned copy of the "invitation letter" along with passport for entry. Because of his tattoos he was scrutinized more thoroughly and given a urine test...we were expecting that.
-
ASC appointment went well also. Robe said they were really nice. Did not want the two passport style photos, took one with their camera. Looked at the DS-260 and 160 and said they were both fine (not sure what that means). 5 minutes later he was done!

Still in CDJ, still nothing. Finally tried the Chinese across from La Quinta, actually really good. That's all I've got for ya.

Picked up our visa on the 7th after we had already checked there once that day and twice every day prior. It was postmarked the 5th... it had been there during five of the times we had checked but no one had found it.
-
I assume you also called 703# during those days? They didnt say it was being delivered, etc? just one day they said "its ready for pick up"? Ive been calling these past days but they have no info yet, im thinking they wont give me info "its being delivered, etc", they will just let me know when its ready to be picked up w waybill #

Finally got the AOS moving!!! Mailed it off day before yesterday... what an immense relief. I think we can actually take a little break, now. (I can't believe we've been at this just about a year now!)
-
Hey guys!!! Finally wrote that review. Just posted it and realized it may be excessive but it's got the answer to every thing we had wondered about the whole time so if yall can get through it, maybe it will answer some of your questions as well.

Car is fixed and we finally got the envelope from DHL! It contains a letter saying he needs to return to the consulate (not ASC) and re-do his fingerprints... So he had his interview Thurs. 3-24, this letter is dated Mon. 3-28 and is postmarked Sat 4-2.

I'd love to go to CJ but besides finances being an issue my 3 week old baby needs a passport to fly! Who woulda thought... So a big no. How bout THIS new f'd up part of the process? http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/298777-ds-260-form-as-of-march-1st-2011/page__p__4521789#entry4521789
