Finally got the AOS moving!!! Mailed it off day before yesterday... what an immense relief. I think we can actually take a little break, now. (I can't believe we've been at this just about a year now!)
-
Married!!! That was the easiest part so far!
-
Haha! Is AOS really as much fun as it looks? I guess we're about to find out!

We waited 4 weeks instead of two to file fot the social security number to make sure Robe was in the system. The whole appointment went really well until the end when she ran his name and it wasn't in the system. She says we'll need to run a manual verification and we will be notified by mail when it goes through. When I asked her roughly how long it would take she said I. have. no. idea. like it was a totally ridiculous question. Here we go again.

Felizidades! Yes you will need the "antecedentes no penales" for all the cities the beneficiary lived in for more than 6 months since age 16. They will look at them during your interview.

I wasn't able to create a personal album but if you click on my "photos" you can see some pictures we took as we were driving by the consulate.

Hey guys!!! Finally wrote that review. Just posted it and realized it may be excessive but it's got the answer to every thing we had wondered about the whole time so if yall can get through it, maybe it will answer some of your questions as well.
-
Hey, sorry I didn't see your comment until just now! We filled out 160 and 260 to be sure. Turns out they are just two versions of the same thing and the 260 is the updated version that they want. I'm writing a review right now, PLEASE contact me if you have any other questions. I get messages easier...

Crossed on Thursday evening and we're all here in the USA!!!!!! Still making our way across the desert, we'll write a full review once we arrive HOME.

Picked up our visa on the 7th after we had already checked there once that day and twice every day prior. It was postmarked the 5th... it had been there during five of the times we had checked but no one had found it.
-
I assume you also called 703# during those days? They didnt say it was being delivered, etc? just one day they said "its ready for pick up"? Ive been calling these past days but they have no info yet, im thinking they wont give me info "its being delivered, etc", they will just let me know when its ready to be picked up w waybill #

Just got off the phone with 703# and they say VISA IS READY FOR PICKUP!!!!!! We even have a tracking number!!! Oh. My. God. If I'm not back on VJ for a couple days its cuz I'm driving my Mexican across the border through TX and AZ. THIS is the scary part.

Train trip, copper canyon. As long as we're paying top dollar for a hotel we might as well have our honeymoon somewhere that has living plants.

I don't know what we will do... It will cost a lot to pay for the plane and bus back to Oaxaca state and back up to Juarez to check for it. There aren't any DHL locations anywhere near where he lives and I don't know if I trust trying to change locations without a tracking number. I dunno... Road trip to the beach?

Thanks for directing me to the government shutdown, Matt. It looks liker most people won't be affected but the embassy WILL suspend interviews and visa processing during the shutdown. I can't believe our rotten luck... it just goes on and on and on. If we get the visa in hand before the weekend we'll be okay.
-
The good ol folks at 703# today said it may be another 2-3 weeks. They explained that when you go back to the consulate it's like you start the countdown over and each time it can be up to 3 weeks. Mind you, we've already been here 2 and a half weeks.

The guy at DHL just now said it'll probably be 5 more days. And why don't we have a waybill number like everyone else? This is so depressing.
