otta got a reaction from Alexsea in Document quality 😬
I empathize; spent almost 2 weeks trying various scanners and dozens of setting combinations to try to get the best possible quality under 2MB; it was such a headache. It's a crapshoot and one just never knows.

Did you try more than one scanner? We found that quality/size balance was worst from public scanners in places like Fedex Office and mostly had no luck trying to compress good quality larger files using Adobe Acrobat or online services. We did find a scanner at my office that worked well enough for the most part, and also at a professional photographer's office, that had good equipment. Depending where you are, it may not be easy to look for other scanners right now, but perhaps there's a different machine you could try.

Lastly, maybe try a smartphone scanner app? (One of NVC suggestions; maybe can allow you some more options to play with?) I've seen some stunning PDF scans from those.

Wow that's great! So happy for you! Thanks for sharing. Now you gave us all hope that we might be the lucky ones to hear earlier than anticipated too 🙂

Thanks for responding! I'm still waiting for one document to file taxes, hopefully in a few days, but also don't want to wait another 3 weeks for transcript to be available, though would like to use 2019 taxes. My plan is currently similar to yours, provide transcripts for 2017 & 2018, and for 2019 full return with W2s and 1099s, as instructions specify. I hope they don't come back asking for a transcript, because that would be a delay, but it's a gamble.

I heard from someone via private message that after submitting they don't see an option to update anything online. I also have a consultation with an attorney tomorrow and plan to ask about this approach, so will share if I hear anything useful.

If you don't live too far from your local USCIS office, you can consider getting an infopass appointment (http://infopass.uscis.gov) which gives you get a chance to speak in person with an immigration officer. Since it seems your case is technically not past processing times, you may need to select simply "need information" as type of Infopass appointment on the website. It may or may not be helpful; a lot depends on the individual officer you speak to, same as on the phone. If I were in your situation, I'd probably try Infopass if the office is nearby and your schedule can accommodate a visit there, but I wouldn't try too hard if it would take too much effort. In that case, maybe try the 1-800 number again and request to speak to a Tier II officer.
You can also check your local office's processing times at https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do . Sacramento indeed says 5 months, but that should mean from start to finish, not from start to biometrics...

Ugh, then definitely try calling again: explain briefly that a lot of your mail has gone missing and you're concerned you may have missed the biometrics appt. Then politely, but explicitly ask to speak with a Tier II officer. If you say that you never got anything in the mail from them for 4 months, as you say has happened with one of your co-applicants, it will be harder for the 1st-level phone person to just blow you off.
I feel your pain. My oath is next week, but I never got the letter. A tier II officer gave me the date on the phone, but told me to call back 5 days before the ceremony for time / location if the letter still doesn't arrive by then. I don't know what miracles they think USPS can whip up to make a letter rematerialize a month after it was sent. USPS also lost my green card extension letter during removal of conditions, and inexplicably returned my 10-yr green card back to sender without a delivery attempt. I can't imagine how many people's USCIS applications are even worse than need be because of missing mail.

Sorry to hear you didn't get any better news today. The wait time to speak with a Tier II officer can indeed be painfully long; did they provide any useful info eventually?
Many of us have experienced difficulties here or there, but this delay is pretty awful even for USCIS standards. Keep your chin up; in a few months this process *will* come to an end. Cheers!

Just let it go. Nothing happened! I really think the IO picking on your wife for not having a DL is HIGHLY unusual; maybe he himself had had his license revoked for a DUI, hence the suspicion? I've never had a DL and know other people who also became naturalized citizens using only a State ID in the process. And this issue never came up, because it's a non-issue. You couldn't have anticipated this curveball. Granted, here in NYC it's common to not have a license, as people mostly take public transit / bike / walk, but my close friend recently went through the N400 process in Kansas, where she is definitely unusual for not having a DL, and this also was never brought up by her IO. I'm telling you, your IO must have had a bad day or... personal DUI experience!
On another note, as an avid cyclist and public transit user, I'm saddened by the fact that some people may see not driving as suspicious. I know many places in the US don't even have sidewalks, not to mention good public transit or bike paths, but I know people who choose to live in such places without a car and are doing fine. Your driver's license story from the interview was a major #######? for me. It's upsetting, because not driving is a lifestyle choice for some, and a life circumstance for others who simply can't afford a car. The way your wife's IO sees the world seems discriminatory for any poor applicants who go before him. He just *imagines* things to be a certain way with his rather limited worldview and understanding of people's lives. Sad.
So, in all... Congrats on passing the interview!
