  1. Hello All,

Today I decided to try my luck at walk-in biometrics. I thought I'd write something, and hopefully at least one person will benefit from this.

    Getting there, and getting through:

Since I haven't been able to drive ever since my OPT card expired I had to go by public transportation. I was surprised to see how fast it went (keeping in mind that Phoenix has a horrible reputation when it comes to public transit). I got on the lightrail (beginning of the track on the east) at 05:40am, around 06:20 I arrived at the Central and Thomas station, at which I got off, and took Bus 29 east (around 06:40). The bus stop you want to get off on is 26th st and Thomas, which is right next to the ASC. I got there at exactly 07:00am.

I was first in line, but only about a minute later other people started showing up. By the time 08:00 rolled around there were about 50 people waiting. I think they are getting stricter with walk-ins, since they had to talk amongst each other before they let me in (I had a print out receipt with confirmed flights that showed them I wouldn't be there on my scheduled date, and they all looked at it, and compared dates). Anyways, thanks to Andymac (who replied to another thread of mine) I knew exactly what to expect. They want you to fill out your A# and the receipt numbers on the form (in my case MSC....), which are all located on the appointment letter. Make sure you fill it out quickly, it isn't rocket science. But this place is almost like the motor vehicle department, lots of people waiting, one person to help you. Anyways, things went smoothly from here on out.

    Things I didn't know:

You can bring cell phones in, as long as they are completely turned off.

    They don't check your bags

You can bring somebody else, but they will have to sit on one of the chairs inside.

The people inside were all super nice and courteous. Besides having to wake up at 5am my day went great!

  2. I don't know how much your girlfriend/fiancée makes a month. In my case I was working and making about $4500 a month, after my OPT ended and we filed for AOS I haven't been able to work or drive or do anything. She doesn't make a whole lot of money, plus the wedding was a bit more expensive than that we hoped. Long story short, we are under major financial stress right now because we lost my income, and she simply doesn't make enough money to cover all the bills. I would only recommend this route if you really have thought about the whole financial situation.

  3. Hello All,

I just received my biometrics letter, and I just wanted to double confirm something. I already have a previous A# number from my OPT days. But when I received the NOA1 and the Bio appointment there is a totally different A# in it. Also, nothing is filled out in the social security number section, even though I have one and I sent it to them.

Also, anybody have any luck with walk-ins in Phoenix, I read about 1 couple doing it and they were successful.

    Thank you all kindly,

    Robert

  4. @AandB You should check if you can have some agency in Canada print you an international license for over here. I know back in Europe they do that, and here AAA takes care of that. Too bad I only had a US license :(

Anyways, I think I am with y'all in the slow pile. Haven't received by biometrics letter yet. My NOA1 was dated July 9th..... Biting nails....Hopefully I get it Monday or Tuesday, so I can attempt a walk-in on Wednesday.....

  5. Hello all!

I'm there with you all. I've been watching this wonderful forum, and thank you all for the great help and insights that were given to me through these forums. It would've been a zoo without this site. Anyways, I submitted my Application on June 30th, It was accepted on the 2nd of July, and the notice and checks were cashed on the 9th....Now I am waiting for my biometrics appointment :( .. I hate not being able to drive and just sitting at home checking the USCIS website every 5 min :'(

  6. As a nurse I would strongly advice you (her) to not stop taking it. I believe a lot of medications are over-prescribed and overused, but not in the case of TB. I don't know what your health insurance situation is, but trust me, treating this in China is relatively cheap. If she were to come here and infect you on top of it, and you don't have good health insurance you'll be wishing you had waited. I know it sucks having to wait, but in the long run it is worth it.

  7. Hi All,

First of all, I would like to thank all of the people working on this site and the people posting to this forum. You all have been a tremendous help with the process.

Anyways, I have a simple question, and maybe it has been asked and answered before, I tried finding the answer but with all the stuff going on right now I am just slightly overwhelmed.

    My question is:

I am following the guide to put my 2 packages together, the I-130 and the I-485 using the "Step-by-Step Guide on How to File an I-130 for a Spouse Inside the US" guide.

Do I file both "packages" to the same place (Chicago)? or do I file one in Chicago and the other one to my local office here in Phoenix? In form I-130 on page 2 it asked "Your relative is in the United States and will apply for adjustment of status to that of a lawful permanent resident at the USCIS office in:", and I put in Phoenix AZ there. So do I need to mail the I-485 package to Phoenix, or is that so they know where to forward the application to?\

    Thank you kindly!
