  1. Sadly i forgot to make a copy of the form, but i have everything else. I have looked at the infopass but none of the options seems to be the right one, does it matter the reason i choose to make the appointment?

    Probably (I've never done it):

"You need Service on a case that has already been filed "

    and then

"Case Services follow-up appointment - If it has been over 45 days since you contacted NCSC and have not received a response to your inquiry. You must bring the Service Request ID Number related to your inquiry to the appointment. "

What day does it say on the NOA that it was received? Make an appointment for 45 days later, which should be soon if you sent it out on July 4th

I know it says that you have to bring the service number, so it is not totally the correct number. But it is as close as you can get I think. Maybe somebody else has some ideas....

  2. I just want to chime in and say we also did it ourselves. We followed the guide on this site to the teeth, no RFE, no $5000 lawyer bill. Filling out the forms can be done in a couple of hours, checking and triple checking them all also a couple of hours. Gathering evidence maybe an hour, we sent in a copy of our lease, bank statements with both our names, marriage certificate copy, and 5 photos of our courtship. Spread it out over a couple of days if you don't have the time.

You know the kind of person you are best (organized, able to follow instructions etc) best.

It isn't hard, it just takes time. Mine took from 8am, till the post office at 4:45pm.

  3. You would think that if you received your NOA1 on July 20th that you'd be in the system. I honestly don't know the exact answer to your question. But I would make an infopass appointment, and go talk to somebody in person. The people on the customer service hotline have no power to change anything. But if you actually go in they can help you out. Did you make copies of what you sent? You might want to bring that and the NOA1

  4. I have an interesting question for y'all.

I came here initially on a F-1 then I started my OPT. I met my now wife right before I started my OPT. Since I was a nurse I was never really worried about my immigration status (turns out that even with the preferential nurse treatment it will take 2 years). Anyways, we talked about getting married before any immigration matters came up. And we were planning on getting married in fall of 2011. Anyhow, I finally talked to a lawyer and found out that July 7th of this year was my end of the line. And we decided to get married, and we were so on June 22nd.

Anyways, my question. Technically speaking we got married because we didn't want to be apart for 2 years, or go through the K1 process, so can this be construed as marriage for immigration benefits? Is this something I can tell the IO at the interview? or let this be one of those "Don't ask, don't tell" kind of things?

And I'm sorry if this question has been asked before and answered, I did a search but couldn't easily find something.

I greatly appreciate all your help!

  5. There are more congressmen and senators you can send it to. You will at least have one more senator, and depending on the state you can have 50 more congressmen. The only difficulty with the congressmen is that they will probably want you in their district. But you can always use you in-laws address, or friend's addresses when petitioning. In my case they didn't check my name and address with USCIS, they just needed my A# and receipt number.

Try it again, you have a complete package done.

  6. No money no petition??

I am a 22 year old female from Virginia USA. i met my fiance in the philippines 2005, and weve been together for 5 years. we have a 2 year old daughter. I went to school in the philippines, met a great guy, had a daughter now need to head home The problem is, i have no income yet. once arriving i will get a job, more or so, Nursing assistant until i pass my NCLEX to be a registered nurse. I want to petition my fiance.. but how..? Now my question is are Co sponsors allowed for K1 visas? Or should him and I get married so that i can use a co sponsor in a spouse visa. (my mother and father are willing to co sponsor) but the question is will the uscis understand?, any one else in my situation?

I don't know how Virginia is but after I completed nursing school I couldn't find a job for the life of me, they want people with experience. And especially in this economic climate there are a lot of retired nurses going back, and since they have the experience they get the preferential treatment....Good luck to you though

  7. Another question: Is it possible to check the status of your case on the uscis website without an NOA 1?

Nope you need the receipt number, they print it on the back of your check if you have access to that through your bank. But the online system sucks anyway, look at my time line, I've only had 2 touches in the beginning and nothing after that (touch wise...according to the status check) and yet quite a bit of stuff has happened on my case.

  8. uhh actually, don't worry just yet - it takes most people just about 7-10 days to receive their first 'sign' that the application was received/worked on etc.

    it'll all work out

Anybody got any experience with walk-ins in Seattle?? Wonder if I should just go - need EAD - stat. :hehe:

I'm not completely convinced that it actually makes anything go quicker, for some people it seems like it does. For other people it seems to make no difference. But it definitely doesn't hurt to try :)

  9. Woohoo finally got my biometrics in the mail today  and my case status has not shown any touches, so obviously thats not all that reliable!

My appointment is not til the end of August, so Im wondering about weather to try do a walk in, as the office is really close to me.

For anyone who has done a successful walk in, how long did you wait after getting the NOA for the appointment???

I went on a Wednesday so it was 2 days. I don't know why but whenever I read about walk-ins they say it is better on a Wednesday. I have no idea if there is any truth behind it or not, but it worked for me.

During the appointment they were able to pull me up successfully from their database using the bar codes, so I think you should be ok.

  10. Really, your EAD was approved in less than 30 days? Wow! What kind of visa did you come to the U.S. on?

It wasn't really about the visa, I was working for a year as a RN here. And I lost my job because of my previous EAD expiring, ever since then my wife and I have had enormous trouble keeping afloat financially (wedding was a bit more than planned). So we contacted out local congressman.

  11. Wouldn't her emails to her ex prove that she did not enter this marriage in good faith? Now if it was him sending the emails she would be entering under good faith.... I think there is a case to be made if you can somehow string the pre- and post-marriage time lines with her and her ex together, as long as you can prove she didn't enter on good faith.

Also, what do you expect she would do knowing you are throwing her #### on the plane on the 30th? That she would stick with her old ways? Of course not, her main concern is not going back (and from what I've read) this will be at any cost possible..... I would make it sound different, I would tell her that you will go with her on the 30th to work things out, and actually go with her. Book yourself a nice 5 day stay in one of the resorts (prices shouldn't be too bad as it is somewhat out of the season). As soon as you land you say goodbye, take a cab to the resort, and on your way you cancel her return ticket (or maybe do this in the bathroom at the airport in Thailand).

Keep in mind that everything I say is based on what YOU have told us, I don't know her story, and it is my experience there is usually two sides to the same story. That having been said, I do believe you are being used by her. Think long and hard about what you're going to do. If you honestly feel that she is this person that you made her out to be, don't feel bad for sending her back into poverty. She had her chance, and she blew it.
